  1. Perhaps you recall the saying about a fool and his money. Something in the OP does not compute. They could not save enough for a house in Sydney, but can splash out the equivalent of AUD 1.2 million in Thailand?
  2. Hurricane Milton is on its way, Category 5 storm. I doubt they will be saying anything but "HELP!!!!!"
  3. What's the point of staying silent when one of the candidates is utterly anti-science? Trying to deny climate change is not the result of anthropomorphic emissions of carbon dioxide since the Industrial revolution is akin to King Canute trying to hold back the tide. True, fossil fuels have given us our current standard of living. They have had their day, time to get on board with renewable energy. Basic thermodynamics says as we get hotter, storms become more violent. Have a chat to Floridians who just lived through Hurricane Helene.
  4. Coconut oil is a chemical. IIRC the principal ester is glyceryl trilaurate. I love it when people use the adjective organic. I am waiting for some bright spark to invent inorganic bacon.
  5. 27 million baht for a 4-bedroom house is way over the odds for a house in Thailand. Plenty of good houses for 5-10 million baht. The husband is 7 years away from qualifying for the OAP, and will have to spend two years in Oz to get it. That may not be a concern if they are self-funded.
  6. Homes under $1 million close to any of the capital cities are as rare as hens' teeth. A decent house could cost $2-3 million, particularly around Sydney. Foolish to be shelling out capital until they have rented for a few years.
  7. Not really, many women past 50 need the help of KY for vaginal dryness.
  8. I should have put a sarcasm alert in my post. Just because I read and respond to a poster does not mean I take them seriously. You might want to take note yourself.
  9. Trump has always been a racist, way back to the time he and his father excluded minorities from renting, and got sued by NYC. His followers are too stupid to see with any of such comments, he is pushing their buttons, and telling them what he knows they want to hear. America's real test will come on December 5, when voters can choose between sanity and chaos.
  10. Valsartin is an angiotensin II receptor blocker, which works differently to a beta-blocker. AFAIK valsartan has zero effect in terms of psoriasis, although it may affect libido.
  11. From experience, when a relationship is going sour it is futile to try and salvage it. The damage then becomes a source of resentment to the innocent party. The longer one stays, the greater the harm. Whose welfare is more important, yours or hers? Permit me to doubt you can persuade her to change. Having been in one marriage and a long-term defacto relationship where I was shouldering most of the work, my Thai GF is a refreshing, hard-working change.
  12. Trump has not only lost the respect of veterans, although his stunt at Arlington was the final straw. He has also no respect from golfers, due to falsely claiming championships. It's why he only plays golf courses that he owns. Places such as Augusta or Pine Valley would turn him away.
  13. I fail all three criteria of the OP. While my GF does work part-time, she has a child and two grandchildren. She is 23 years younger than me. The relationship has been going well for about 14 years, what are we doing wrong?
  14. There is no real reason for your GF's libido to change. The desire for sex comes from hormone production levels - tying off the Fallopian tubes does nothing to interfere with that function. If anything, your GF may find sex more enjoyable without the concern of becoming pregnant. The long-term use of oral contraceptives does increase the risk of cervical cancer, blood clots and stroke. My GF's daughter has had her tubes tied, she is quite active sexually. Not with me, I'm too old for a rerun of "The Graduate".
  15. Get a diagnosis done with an EKG and/or CAT scan with contrast, a cardiologist will then prescribe suitable medication. If the doctor prescribes beta-blockers to slow down the pulse rate, be aware these medications have side effects such as loss of libido, and psoriasis.
  16. Well. you ignore the fact cash is untraceable, whereas every digital transaction can be tracked by nosy governments. Privacy is non-existent. Nobody has ever robbed me of cash, I have been scammed a couple of times when I went digital. IMO phone payments are the biggest vulnerability to hackers yet seen in the realm of digital transactions. You say traders in China do not accept cash anymore. No skin off my nose, visiting China is not on any bucket list I may have. As for Thailand, I think cash will be around for quite a while yet.
  17. Not that I care, but there are quite a few examples of initiatives in Thailand which have not come to pass. Legalizing prostitution. Majority rule. Reducing air pollution. Eliminating corruption. Enforcing traffic laws. That's not jumping to conclusions, that's going by past experience.
  18. Trump was not put on trial for having sex with Stormy Daniels, except in the court of public opinion. He was tried and convicted of falsifying business records. Nothing strange about that, unless the Kiwis have different fraud laws.
  19. He has eyesight problems......
  20. I take it as a responsibility. I enjoyed fatherhood at age 30, I very much doubt I would enjoy it now. If you got lucky with your kids, good for you. It doesn't always turn out that way, it's a lottery.
  21. New chemotherapy drugs are being developed all the time, what may have been true 11 years ago is not necessarily true now. I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma two years ago, after getting a lump in my upper thigh checked. By the time I was treated in Australia, the cancer had spread to two other sites. I am in full remission. Biopsies are the cheap way to investigate, a complete examination would involve a CAT scan with a radioactive sugar marker.
  22. Personally, I could not think of anything worse than fathering a child in my sixties or seventies. Having to deal with parenting a teenager when I could cark it any point in that period would be unfair on both of us. I can understand people who want their genes to go on. Mankind probably won't miss mine, or theirs either if they don't procreate.
  23. Most cheap furniture cushioning is polyurethane foam. The premium cushion material is foamed natural rubber latex. It is difficult to make polyurethane flame retardant, as the compounds added for reduced flammabilty affect service life adversely. The Volkswagen Beetle used to have very comfortable seats made of coconut fibre molded with natural latex, I don't know if seats are made that way anymore.
