The worst will be behind us

when i say that the worst is behind us i mean us on the global level. there is better understanding now of the virus and how it works. even the human bodies learned it and cope

with it better. so just relax everybody and enjoy life. thailand is now going to get what latin america got last year, and in the end of the process it will be left with some stable rate of

daily infections and deaths. ce la vie

Good to see big heads thinking again.

Shopping malls closed, but markets open.

I am sorry but how stupid do you have to be not to realize or understand markets are the source of spread and have shown to be consistently.

Where are restrictions on interprovincial travel? Do they not understand when people travel they may spread the virus? If unable to to think or use a brain, look at other countries and see what they did to curb the spread.

Anyone want to make a bet, this new restrictions will not bring down the numbers by much?

you just cannot lockdown a country like thailand for too long. here is not australia. there

are too many people here living hand to mouth with no savings.

thailand will have to live with some rate of daily infections and deaths from covid, just

like mexico and brazil, even u.s. and u.k.,  did. this virus cannot be controlled. it has to be managed and

we all have to learn to live - and die - with it.

dont really understand why anybody would vacation outside their country during a pandemic

in my country hotels charge 3 times normal prices just because they can. hence

the flight here was full. even with all the flight and other costs it will cost me 25% of

what will cost in my country. and no som tam there

  4. The stark reality is that even if there is a short complete lockdown (which Thailand as a developing nation can't afford) it will only slow transmission until the inevitable reopening, and it only works in tandem with an effective and rapid vaccination strategy (Thailand's is a well documented shambles). The Uk has been locked down for months, is approaching herd immunity, and still has 20,000 cases per day! See Israel too (with Pfizer). Thailand has no choice other than to live with it. Partial lockdowns will achieve nothing, and a months long total lockdown would destroy the country.

Nobody ever died of starvation in Thailand, just dosnt happen.

are you sure about it? do you even know what is going on in all thailand?

anyway, when i said starvation i meant poverty, depresion, desperation, ext.

i once asked a poor girl from isarn what the people there do if they need expensive

health care or special diet ext. and they cannot afford it?

    she answered innocently: they die.

this is indeed what happans to many poor people when they get a serious illness, or need more nutrition than the twice daily som tam. but nobody counts them. the statistics are just

    lies.

  6. TRANSLATION: bank of thailand does not know how to think for itself and will do whatever the big boys, uncle sam and china, will do.

not that it is a thai thing. the whole world is like that. the U.S. declare was on drugs (mainly kakanabis) and the whole world follows brainlessly.

next decade, U.S. declares kakanabis as medical and legal, and the whole worrld follows.

maybe next decade the U.S. will decide that fecet is good to eat and great way to rehabilitise the xeroklarification, and the whole world will follow.

  7. at this point of time, there is enough knowledge and information about the pandemic and what help where.

truth is that lockdowns does not work. so you lock for a month, than you open and all come back.

the way to go for thailand is the brazil and mexico way. just open everything, with tests.

the price will be indeed more covid deaths, but more lives will be saved from death by poverty and even hunger.

I believe there are other reasons here for the 'sandbox'.

THE reasons are very simple - to start openning the country for tourists. that is it.

most shops in phuket are closed not because of a lockdown but simply because

there are no customers. horrible sight. thai government must east all restrictions and

allow visitors in as easy as they can get into spain and portugal. otherwise many more

will die from those stupid sanbox restrictions, which are anyway useless because

thailand is allready a red country.

The Sandbox or how you may call it is an area quarantine.. You are allowed to go around on the island, but are obliged to sleep and use your hotel. The only difference is that you are not need to stay in your room all day. Only available for fully vaccinated people and no exceptions for expats who return to Thailand. But with the low vaccination grade, because of that the most people only got one jab, there will be serious risk that Phuket also will face more Covid cases.

nobody cares about phuket. we all want to get to bangkok

Then maybe you should look at this list from skytrax. https://skytraxratings.com/the-varying-costs-of-a-pcr-test-at-airports-around-the-world Admittedly these are airport tests which may be more expensive than in city hospitals/clinics. Still most fall in the range of US$ 75-150/PCR-test, with some cheaper and some with outrageous prices, topped by Kansai (Osaka) at US$ 404!!

i am not expert on PCR TESTS PRICES, but from  my experience the prices are 30-50 USD in airports.

outside airports, in rpivate clinics, the prices are even cheaper.

i just had my done for 30 USD.

osaka price might be a way to keep tourists away.

thing is that if thailand want to attract tourists, thailand has to make tourists lives easier.
