  1. A wonderful tool. Didn't know they were sold here now.
  2. We have surge protectors for our Inverter fringes as recommended by the very 1st warranty repair man. Order at one of the big electrical supply shops, eg Wualai Rd, or search online. They plug in behind your appliance and shut down any surge current/voltage spike, resetting when supply is stable. Priced around 750 thb.
  3. Paint stripper should be ok on glazed tiles. If in doubt, test a small area 1st.
  4. Up to you. Fortunately my intellect allows me to see thru the crap and I have seen many instances of manipulation. Friends call me sherlock.
  5. You're thinking of the accommodation towers, I'm talking 'office' tower
  6. I once left a scathing, though 100% factual, review for a Bangkok hotel. When reading about the Koh Chang episode I checked my old review with a view to deleting it until I noted the 1,000's of views. Went walking the Google man past the address and the hotel site had been demolished, Asoke Towers now stands on that site. I normally research places pretty well before dining or booking a room and have left 100's of positive reviews on both TripAdvisor and Google.
  7. Strelitzia like a well drained soil bed and adequate watering during dry periods. The rhizomes will slowly spread and may be dug out to contain the plants within a smaller area. They grow well in poor soll on sloping ground and help retain an embankment.
  8. Airconditioner repair tip. Geckos fry themselves on PCB boards and a good repairer should spray the new replacement board with an insulating film. You can buy the CRC product via Lazada in clear or red tint and use on any vulnerable appliance. Expensive automatic coffee machines for example. Some of the latest AC units coming from makers like Samsung have the outdoor PCB boards protected, or potted, in resin.
  9. I usually buy appliances only at Homepro as they've always provided excellent after sales service and honoured warranty obligations on behalf of the manufacturer. They will often match competitors prices without too much of a nudge. Funny story. A friend gave me his Black and Decker hedge trimmer when moving house but warned it was very noisy and overheated, from new. Ever seen shop staff putting tools and appliances together? So I pulled the cutter apart to see why it overheated, to the point that smoke was coming out the vents, and found the problem. Obviously dropped from a height, the blade was slightly bent at the casing entry and caused the eliptical gear to work overtime. A few hard taps with a mallet and it was good as new. Still going 3 years on. I've seen many items, incl. furniture, poorly assembled by shop staff and now insist they are delivered to me for self assembly.
  10. System @ 240,000 /72 = 3,333bt per month on daytime consumption with pool/irrigation pumps + house. (doesn't allow for non productive cloudy days) With 5kw LiFePo battery payback = 6.75 years
  11. ~ 6 year payback for my 10kw/3phase/hybrid system installed. (no Li battery just yet) Eyekandy was OTT with their pricing, nice gear, but .... Huawei 3kw (no battery) system installed by TNS costs 189,000 and would suit most folk
  12. Which part of CM are you in? I know of 2 local ppl, both very knowledgeable.
  13. Redmi Note 11 @ 5,300 (discounted) is an excellent buy. Compares well with Samsung A04s and beats it by a small margin in some features. Like Samsung, they have local service in Chiang Mai which helped sway the choice. Mi UI is user friendly and Snapdragon 680 chipset is fast. Happy with the purchase!
  14. It depends on the location of the puncture and quality of workmanship, the former I can address, the latter would have required me to o serve to repair. Mushroom type repairs to a simple piercing of the main tread area should last the life of the tyre and be perfectly safe to drive on. Mushroom plugs are sometimes used on the tread to sidewall area which is not always recommended due to the constant flexing of that area which could cause some delamination of the mushroom head. That may or may not lead to a leak at the puncture site depending on quality of the workmanship.
  15. You talk in riddles though some might use stronger words. Do you have any constructive commentary?
  16. Drilling a hole in the skull may relieve pressure from fluids, a fairly common procedure with head trauma.
  17. HP, been there done that with a lappie and printer, never again. A Brother wifi laser printer works for me as I only ever need documents/copies.
  18. She could be my wife's twin. Met Mrs McT at the Aussie bar in Patong back in '02 and we married in '03. I got some dirty looks those 1st few years, especially back in Sydney for a visit with the inlaws, but it's ok now that she's 35, hardly anyone notices the 30 year gap. And yeah, she's been a faithful and devoted wife.
  19. Plucking figures out of thin air and attributing revenue generated by TAT. ???? Dreamers! Revenue from Thai's will flow to Thai's and only a few 100,000 international visitors may, just may, have come here specifically for Songkran. They will likely only do so the once.
  20. Sarin Coffee shop in Ubon Ratchathani has been consistently excellent over the 12 years I have visited. Located on a main road west of the Police HQ and Hospital, Sarin is located at the rear of the Shell servo. Nice cakes and sandwiches + fast wifi in aircon comfort.
  21. Starbucks coffee is highly over-rated expensive flavoured water. AMAZON make a quality coffee!
  22. CM is full of whingers an whiners. About time you all grew some more brain cells and thought about the season, wind patterns and why a hot dry climate produces dust and bush fires. You want smoke, go live in Australia during bush fire season. Only difference here is that much of the smoke is blown across from India or Burma and settles among our valleys all across the North and into Laos and Vietnam. Dust is stirred up by human activity and any city traffic pollution exacerbates poor local conditions. It's normal in a dry climate. Get used to it or move.
  23. The bottom set of wheels can be adjusted to raise the door. Best idea is to remove the door from the frame and check both wheels are undamaged and fully serviceable. If damaged you can purchase replacements from most aluminium door/window fabricators or major hardware retailers.
  24. Central Festival's Food Hall stock a large variety of UK foodstuffs, eg: Waitrose brand, and I've seen frozen Chicken Kiev and meat pies in the freezers.
