  1. Officially yes although when my wife filed for divorce from her ex her local amphur in Isaan told her not to marry again for 1 year and they said this as if it was some rule.

Its not a law but if you are at the mercy of the local amphur in the sticks to authorize documents you have to take these nuances on the rules into consideration.

@NightSky was that directed to me or to @OJAS ?  (You replied to the topic rather than quoting a post)

If to me I can assure you that I'm VERY aware of such things -  (See #156) - I just haven't had occasion to comment on them here before

I was adding information to the OP's topic which is why i didn't include a quote.

  3. Ring fencing and fraud prevention crackdown at UK banks has been happening since 2017. You're probably one of the few left to notice these changes. Its an inconvenience but ways to manage it if you really do need to maintain a UK bank account whilst travelling outside the country.

Not the same. Look it up.

I know already about what's available in Thailand.

    It's not the same.
Neosporin and related brands is a specific thing that are the go to wound thing in the U.S. Why would the same thing not be available here? I understand with some fancy scrips but that stuff is BASIC!

It seems there is a powder product in Thailand with the same drugs in it as Neosporin. Its called Banocin and contains:

    Clioquinol :30 mg

    Bacitracin :75 i.u.

    Neomycin sulphate :2.5 mg

    https://www.drugs.com/international/banocin.html

Another alternative with a single drug in it is Bacitracin also available from Thailand. The difference can be seen here:-

" My dentist" would have told you to go for a crown and charge you 5,500 baht for one. Last time it was 4,500 baht.

The problem with crowns is that their material is harder than a tooth is which might cause new problems.

I can't afford golden ones to be precise.

I had a palladium crown fitted a few years ago. The metal is soft but cheaper than gold or platinum. Root canal and three visits later was about 10,000 baht in total.

(well at least they told me it was palladium it could have been made from anything for all I know)

  6. I had a molar removed last week, not something I want to repeat often mind you. The female dentist was really excellent, it was out within 5 minutes of me sitting in the chair -- 800 baht.

I try to go every 6 months for a routine checkup and clean and more often only if required although it usually ended up being about 8 months if I forget to book.

Find a good low cost independent dentist, the bigger brand chains charge much more.

A family member had a tooth out last week in the UK costing 70 pounds so my 800 baht bill was very cheap in comparison. I will always have dentistry done in Thailand for lower cost, high quality treatment.

Nothing new about these cars.  When doing my 90 day report in January, at Nakhon Pathom, there were 3 of them parked outside the office.

What is interesting is what is mounted on the roof behind the emergency light bar.  Its a tilt/pan/zoom CCTV camera which is connected to an on board computer that is linked to Immigration's main database and facial recognition system.

At a later date I spotted one of these cars parked outside a nearby food factory, which  employs a large number of migrant worker, just before the shift was about to end.   No doubt looking for workers exiting who may not be registered or have work permits.

It probably goes without saying but another hazard of falling on the mean dirty streets in Thailand is dealing with the wounds if they are bloody, as mine were. I was quite concerned about infection, even risk of deadly sepsis (healed by now though).

Which brings me to another question that maybe Sheryl can help with.

I've never been able to locate the very common in the USA (and I think most countries) ointment called NEOSPORIN or equivalent. Over the years I've tried several pharmacies. What's up with that!?!

    https://www.drugs.com/mtm/neosporin-topical.html

Iodine is available cheap from 7/11 for all minor open wounds (that red stuff they put on our knee grazes as kids)

  9. Tripping over and falling can happen to anyone especially on these uneven streets. Hope you are OK now?

How about investing in some good strong and comfortable walking shoes (maybe with those Velcro tapes that go across the foot for ease to put on and off) and consider a walking stick that doubles up as a Vaudeville Hook implement, it might come in handy for all sorts of reasons..
