Try Mr Jacks a few metres up Soi Bukhao from Pattaya Klang. He’s the best guy I’ve found to service watches. He’ll give you an honest opinion as to what he can / can’t do and an estimate of the cost. He serviced a 70’s Tissot for me. Very pleased with it.
  2. I’ve got a Toyota hybrid. Dealer advised service intervals of 10,000 Km or 6 months, whichever comes first.
  3. You could try The Grass on Pattaya Tai. They have an Apart/hotel block. No idea what the availability might be or indeed the rate, but maybe worth checking.
  4. I guess what will be interesting is when a tourist gets nabbed for having a beer at 14:15, and it hits the headlines. And believe me it will !!
  5. Beginning of the year, we were quoted 50,000 for SS gate approximately the same size as yours. Didn’t get a check price, but believed that was the going rate.
  6. This week via WISE I’ve sent a transfer for 100k Thai Baht to Kasikorn and transfer went through in seconds.
  7. The Expat shops (Like Siamburys) normally carry PG Tips and Yorkshire tea bags. I do understand that supply can be a bit hit and miss though.
  8. If your friend applies in October for the extension it will only be valid until the April passport expiry date. I renewed my passport in March of this year myself (not through an agent) and it only took 2 weeks from first visit to Bangkok to make the application. My suggestion would be to get a new passport in the next month or so. Process is pretty easy.
  9. I guess if many people are applying on line it should make the process at the DVLA easier and quicker for those that have to apply physically.
  10. The bank that you deal with will know what you mean if you just ask for a bank letter for immigration. I always ask for a 12 month statement as well so there is no doubt at immigration.
  11. I had a BKK firm file for me, as I have multiple sources of UK income that is assessable. At the end of the day, the Thai allowances, tax thresholds and the offset from my UK tax paid to HRMC yielded nothing to pay here in Thailand. Worth the peace of mind in case they decide to quiz you on tax status at your next visa renewal/extension, or upon trying to leave the Kingdom.
  12. SCB do. Won’t change your life style though at the rate they pay.
  13. Take a look in Boonthawan (spelling ?) just past Home Pro as you are heading North on Sukhumvit just past the Klang tunnel. From memory they had a big range of kitchen taps in there.
  14. We always keep a bottle or two of the Laughing bird Red in the fridge. Not a bad drop for the money, if you want a change from beer.
  15. I use Bolt a couple of times a week. 95% of the time it’s fine. Occasionally I get a driver that wants more than the quoted App fare. I just cancel the ride and send negative feedback to the Bolt people. It’s not the extra Baht they are looking for it’s the principle of the thing. If you don’t want to drive at the App rates then don’t become a Bolt driver! I always give the driver a tip on top as they do provide a good alternate to the regular metered taxis.
  16. I might have two 33Ml beers and drive , but that’s it. Any more and I’ll get a taxi. Not worth the problems if there’s an issue, even if it’s not your fault.
  17. I do my immigration business at Jomtien, and from memory they wanted a 12 month statement first time about 4 “O”visa extensions ago. I thought at the time it was because I’d changed the passbook due to the one I had at the previous renewal being full. As a precaution though I now always get one with my letter required from the bank. IO seem happy with that. For Thb 100 it’s not worth having the dialogue with immigration, so I just include it with the passbook photocopies they want.
  18. It’s confusing to say the least. I think it also depends like many of these admin things what office you are at.
  19. An agent quoted 4-6 weeks. Seems in line with what info you have.
  20. Yes, you can use cards now or indeed cash.
  21. At my local office they charge 300 for a Residence certificate, and have always refused to give a receipt for the service, although someone on Pattaya Oracle assured me getting a receipt from that same office was absolutely no problem.
  22. If you are unsure just ask ! Many girls will appreciate that gesture. Don’t take them for granted.
  23. Certainly in some offices you can do your 90 day up to 7 days late. Immigration at exit port will not check your 90 day report docket anyway, so you’re good to leave without doing it on day 94.
