  1. Your post seems to be full of inconsistencies, but I will only address one of them, in this post. You initially stated you “never needed a car” and only owned one for convenience. However, you are now stating instances where you might need to rent a car or take a taxi, which would seem to contradict your initial claim of never needing a car. Could you possibly clarify this apparent inconsistency? Thank you for reminding me about the topic even though what lead us here was your irrelevant digression of comparing 'auto' deaths to gun deaths.
  2. You mentioned that you ‘had to’ drive through a challenging neighborhood regularly, which implies a certain level of necessity or obligation. Yet, in another context, you stated that you’ve never needed a car and only owned one for convenience. These statements seem to contradict each other. Could you please clarify this apparent inconsistency?”
  3. What is notable is that Russia entered NATO airspace.....
  4. Curious what model do you have for sale? I had a DS213 Air, great unit and very quiet!
  5. Cars and guns are both tools, but their roles in our society are fundamentally different. Cars, in modern times, have become essential for transportation and daily life, while guns are not necessary for most people’s everyday activities. Therefore, comparing the two is not relevant.
  6. I suggest you didn't read the article cleverly enough, it not only does not support your narrative, it debunks it. I also suggest you read it again in conjunction with this clearly written article and in your own words 'stop trying to bring up ridiculous things that (someone) never said. And try the context in which things (s)he did say were said. Be honest'. Claims that Pfizer vaccine wasn’t tested on preventing transmission need context!
  7. Here are some facts: The COVID-19 vaccines are indeed vaccines, as they meet the definition of a vaccine: a substance that stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies against a specific disease. The COVID-19 vaccines do reduce transmission, as they lower the risk of infection and the viral load in the body. Several studies have shown that vaccinated people are less likely to infect others than unvaccinated people. The Pfizer executive did not admit that they never tested the vaccine for the ability to stop transmission. He said that they did not measure the transmission rates in their clinical trials, as it was not feasible to do so. However, he also said that they expected the vaccine to have an impact on transmission, based on the data they had. The governments and doctors are not lying by telling everyone that the vaccines stop transmission. They are following the scientific evidence and the public health guidance that recommend vaccination as a key measure to control the pandemic. President Joe Biden did not lie about the vaccines. He has been promoting vaccination as a key measure to protect the health and safety of the American people. He has also been transparent about the challenges and uncertainties of the pandemic. 8. COVID-19 is relevant as it is the subject of this topic and an example of viral evolution, but the article also discussed other viruses that evolved differently. Transmission rates matter, because they affect how many people get infected and die. The Delta variant is more transmissible and deadly than the original strain. A virus that is more virulent but less deadly is not weaker. Virulence is how much damage a virus causes, while lethality is how likely a virus kills. A virus that causes more damage but does not kill may spread more easily. The common cold is an example of this. There are many examples of viruses that became more deadly over time, and this can be proven scientifically by comparing their genes, infections, and deaths. eg the Spanish Flu. The 1918 Spanish flu pandemic was caused by a deadly mutation of the influenza virus that killed 50 million people. We should worry about a hypothetical, because it is possible. Viruses mutate and evolve, and some mutations may make them more virulent and/or lethal. The best way to stop new and dangerous variants is to reduce transmission, increase vaccination, and monitor evolution. 9. I think Darwin spoke about how evolution is survival of the fittest. 'Over the past 100 years, virologists have learned that virus evolution is more chaotic. Virus evolution is a game of chance, and less about grand design. In some cases, viruses evolve to become more virulent'. 10. It can be done on your YT account, independent of your TV type. I was recently in hospital, and they had YT on the room TV, and I stupidly logged into it. When I was discharged, I didn't delete the login and when I got home, I noticed a lot of strange Arabic videos in my playlists. So, I went into my YT/Google account and found the device ie the hospital TV and deleted it.
  11. Need a good movie to watch over the holiday break..... I found an interesting YT video that gives an in-depth analysis of what a 'Cinema Vlogger' considers the best movies of 2023, omitting the usual superhero movies that we all love so much. Here is his list, all except one is in the IMDB rating range of 7 to 8/10. 1. Anatomy of a Fall. 2. Oppenheimer. 3. The Eight Mountains. 4. Godland. 5. The Killer. 6. May December. 7. Killers of the Flower Moon. 8. Past Lives. 9. Are you there God? It's me Margaret. 10. The Holdovers.

  13. Yes, a total of 42 have been allocated, Denmark have also promised another 19, they will definitely help to counter Russian air superiority. The Dutch are well acquainted with Putin's criminality after MH17 and are always eager and first in line to assist Ukraine. It's tragic the US have recently gone to the back of the queue.
  14. I mainly like Beng Beng's coz they remind me of my favourite snack at home, the Picnic and a box of 12, costs the same as one Picnic. To each their own. The wrappers on the Beng Beng say 'Real Chocolate', I assume Break's 'proper chocolate' would taste better?
  15. Interesting update from Jake Broe... Including, Netherlands starting to send a planned 18 F-16's in coming days...
  16. I prefer these, 47 baht a box at Makro.

  18. Evidently Guiliani is half a billion ($500M) in debt and will likely spend the rest of his life in jail, what a sad ending for America's Mayor. The Kool-Aid is certainly effective in suppressing the cognitive critical thinking process. Trump's other 'fixer' Michael Cohen was somewhat 'lucky' when rescued by Mueller's Russia investigation. 19. I lived in Phuket for almost a decade and a lot of other places in Thailand and I found that the cost of living was not much different overall, if you owned a car. The only remarkable differences in Phuket generally were the taxi prices and the added freight/transportation costs. Because of lack of public transport and taxi prices there I found having a car essential whereas in Pattaya, Hua Hin and a lesser degree in Bangkok not so much. Makro prices in Phuket say compared to Hua Hin were about 10% more, obviously due to the proximity of Bangkok. Patong was an exception where the accommodation and the take-away food chains like McDonalds etc added a hefty premium.
  20. Trump will no doubt appeal to his Supreme Court. If we are lucky this will set a precedent for more states to come on board. The ruling will no doubt be more ammunition for Jack Smith.
  21. Trump is quoting directly from Mein Kampf, his bedside playbook. We won't have burning down of the Reichstag attacking the Capitol, to look forward to, he has already done that. Donald Trump's Ex-Wife: Trump Kept Book of Hitler's Speeches by Bed (businessinsider.com)
  22. I found your encounter very interesting. Although it seems to have all the characteristics of a vivid dream, how can you be so adamant that it wasn't?
  23. This is Trump's usual 'plausible deniability' in his attempt to get his message across to his base while at the same time later backtracking to covering his a**.
