  1. "Rabies serum" would have likely been rabies immunoglobin (Human-HRIG or Equine-ERIG). It is usually administered for what your bite was, a class 3 rabies exposure, in junction with the first rabies vaccine shot, unless you have had a previous course of rabies vaccine. The RIG provides some immediate immunity and protection while the rabies vaccine takes at least 7 days to develop an immune response. Possibly, the doctor said you didn't need it because it was not available. which I have found to sometimes be the case.
  2. Not quite on another day in March 2021, it was only 3rd most polluted city on the planet with a PM2.5 of 200.
  3. Yes, there is a reason why Chiang Mai houses are cheaper than Pattaya. June to November when it is wet season is beautiful in Chiang Mai. Last year one day in March, Chiang Mai was the most polluted city on the planet. Suggest you try living there from December to April before you consider buying any property there.
  4. Ok, seeing as you too support a similar hypothesis, possibly you can provide evidence of your claim about "current consensus" and "no doctor will risk it"? Hitchens's razor on "burden of proof" which declares that "what may be asserted without evidence, may be dismissed without evidence." Burden of proof (philosophy) - Wikipedia
  5. Unless you are badly immuno-compromised and even then, I would seriously doubt the veracity of your hypothesis that you "needed the whole 5 shot course every time" after 2 years. Could you post a citation to support your claim?
  6. There we go different strokes! I thought it was a brilliant show. Bill Nighy's character role develops further in the next 7 episodes.
  7. Suggest, De Santis has more than egg on this face. His stand on climate change and big government will now come back to haunt him with his electorate. He will now understand the advantages of big government and that "the man with the biggest gold make the rules".
  8. Yet tears are 2% salt and seawater is 3.5%. 10% of seawater would be 0.35 %.
  9. Komrade Karlson aka Lord Haw-Haw has a different take on the culprit!
  10. The World's so called second most powerful defence force (obviously propaganda), yet his incompetence is evident in everything Putin does. If even Margarita Simonya is critical now, how could the Russian public ever trust Putin for the security of their nation in a real war against the West let alone let alone prosecute a "special operation" against a minor power like Ukraine. Like the West, the critical thinking Russian public must be worried about what Putin has gotten them into, especially his threats of a nuclear winter. Obviously, time for a spring uprising or Maidan in Orcland.
  11. Yet, you still have to mess about with rabies immunoglobin which is expensive and can be difficult to source in parts of Thailand together with its inherent issues of blood product contamination and allergic reaction. Then, you have the messing about with emergency treatment of the wound. With Prep vaccination there is no urgency. And then you have the hassle of 4 repeat visits over a month of vaccinations instead of 1 repeat shot after 3 days, after initial treatment. Most western Govt Health bodies recommend rabies Prep vaccination for long stay visits in rabies endemic areas, eg all of Thailand. Rabies Prep vaccination provides its protection for at least 10 years without a booster to keep it current. Not sure what the significance of single-dose vaccination lifelong immunity is. I would, suggest most if not all single-dose disease vaccinations do not provide lifelong immunity. Perhaps, from your expertise in epidemiology you could name any that do?
  12. Yes expensive. If you get bitten and no previous immunisation you will need 5 shots of vaccine @ 500b and 1 shot of human rabies immunoglobin (HRIG) @ 20,000b. HRIG is not usually readily available in Thailand but you might find equine rabies immunoglobin (ERIG) @ 5,000b. Neither rabies immunoglobin is particularly attractive as it is blood product. If you have pre-exposure vaccination it is not necessary.
  13. Those mortalities that are for diseases are treatable on initial diagnosis. Yet, a rabies diagnosis is a certain death sentence.
  14. One million a year from dogs let alone bites and scratches from cats which could equal that of dogs. And of course, there are bats and other wild furry animals. That means in a lifetime it is highly probable that you will need both rabies post vaccination and rabies immunoglobin (RIG), which is expensive and sometimes difficult to find in Thailand. If you are going to live in Thailand it is now obvious that rabies pre vaccination is just as necessary as a hat, sunscreen and insect repellant. NB If pre vaccinated, 2 booster shots of vaccine but not RIG, is still required on exposure.
  15. An overactive bladder can be caused by many things. I was referred to a bladder physio. In my case, my pelvic floor muscles were too strong and needed relaxation therapy. My optimum maximum fluid intake, based on my mainly indoor personal lifestyle in a climate where summer temperatures can reach 47 degrees centigrade, was a daily 1.8 litres. This was determined by accurately determined by measuring my current fluid intake and my urine output.
  16. I suggest that it is not the grout per se that actually improves the non-slip characteristics but the break in the tile surface itself. Most unrectified tiles have deep round shoulders and your feet don't actually even touch the grout below the surface. I would suggest that it is the same action that tread on a tyre uses to drain water from the road surface. ie bald tyres no grip. The grooves or grout lines in fact break the area of water under surface tension and stop aquaplaning or slipping.
  17. Maybe the poster means metronidazole.

  20. You obviously don't have an appreciation of how to treat "school yard" bullies. If you cannot find resources on-line, I can supply a suitable link. Nevertheless, Putin has said that he would only use the nuclear option if Russia's sovereignty is threatened. And that scenario has never been contemplated. So, you have the man's word on the subject.
  21. I suggest a good assessment of the nuclear threat. Putin and his pundits have been postulating the nuclear card for months now. It seems like every time Putin gets disappointed with the progress of his "special operation" he cries wolf. If Putin is going to use nuclear weapons and possibly initiate MAD protocol, nothing the West does will stop him. His ploy that Russia and its territories are threatened is BS and sheer bluff, as is his claim that by holding sham referendums in annexed areas of Ukraine they will become part of Russia. Nothing happening here and the West should continue and possibly escalate its efforts.
