  1. Never tested mine above ground level. Purchased it for when 'out and about'. However, I've given up on it altogether even though it has a few months validity remaining. More often than not, I found no signal available. Subscribed instead to 'add on' data packages for my pre-paid SIM's (AIS for my main phone and True for my back-up).
  2. Agree on that! I got a quote of 17,000 baht for full respray.
  3. Got mine going, eventually, after a struggle. The mobile number for the OTP has to match the mobile number you gave when ordering. Name is mine (in English of course). Couldn't remember what I'd given when ordering so tried all combinations i.e. my Thai mobile number, my UK passport number and my Covid/Pink ID card number. I remembered that, at one time, I gave my Mrs's ID card number and my own Thai mobile number. Turned out I'd given them my wife's mobile number in case of any queries.
  4. The mobile 'phone number must be the one you quoted when ordering. I had to find this out by a process of elimination. In the end, I found out that I had supplied my Mrs's mobile number (my thinking was if any queries with my order, they would probably be asking in Thai language).
  5. Down to the airline and to a certain extent the check-in agent. I was asked for sight of my retirement extension in September when checking-in on Thai Airways at Munich airport. On another occasion in Lisbon the check-in agent explained that if I was flying TAP Air Portugal there is no requirement but I was flying Air Europa who have. However, she felt it was unfair to treat passengers differently so exercised her discretion and permitted me to board. Unfortunately, upon transit in Madrid staff didn't agree and I was deboarded.
  6. That would leave only Hezbollah and Houthi (officially) rooting for Palestinians. Israel will continue building their illegal settlements in the West Bank until there's only the Gaza strip remaining.
  7. Can't sit on the steps at my nearest. Counted nine dogs lying on them today.
  8. Suspended ceiling in mother-in-law's house was a problem. Our cats easily found their way up there but then they became too heavy and broke the panels, crashing onto the floor! Had success with both cage and glue traps too.
  9. I too have limited flexibility (to put it mildly). Not Pattaya but we always go to the same local independent tyre supplier/fitter. As soon as we drive up (or ride if on moto) the guys stop what they're doing and pump us up using air hose incorporating gauge (definitely worth 20 baht). Last time a new young guy obviously didn't know the correct pressures for our car. He opened the door to check the placard in the door jamb. First time I've ever witnessed that level of service!
  10. Looks very much like a drone. Possibly taken by Tessaban? Problem with traditional economical Thai houses, all wooden upstairs. Mrs and friends today took things such as blankets, fans plus foodstuffs to the families. Good idea to have house insurance, I don't think I'd cover contents in our case, only the buildings.
  11. What is most confusing is the reference to 'child'. Once turned 20 'child' cannot be applicable in Thailand.
  12. I was fortunate last year when I returned to UK. My GP's practice had already invited me via text for a Pneumococcal vaccination which is apparently valid for life. I had that and also the influenza jab before coming back to Thailand. This year I retuned to Thailand before the influenza jab and Covid booster for over 65's became available.
  13. Can't remember from the last time I travelled by coach (it was NakonChaiAir), are there seatbelts fitted?
  14. Don't know how it started (yet) but six families lost everything yesterday in my town. Feel very sorry for them. Fortunately, no loss of life or injuries. The firefighting appliances look inadequate however the Soi is rather narrow. Mrs tells me the temples will provide food and shelter. People are stuffing money into envelopes as you do. I very much doubt any of the families will have had house insurance. Got me thinking, I haven't either!
  15. That's diabolical! Nobody breaks bones for fun. What type of insurance was it? Annual health cover, Personal Accident Plan or motor insurance etc.?
  16. Proves the usefulness of scanners. I trust you are receiving all necessary treatment and hope that it all goes well for you.
  17. My mother had already been admitted to hospital because she was unable to eat. After a week she was discharged still unable to eat. A doctor told me a hospital should never discharge a patient who cannot eat. She had fluid in her abdomen which another doctor said was most likely ovarian cancer. She was vomitting 'coffee grounds' (blood from the stomach) and I called an ambulance as that was then an emergency situation. She was admitted into the Medical Investigation Unit of the same hospital and given a CT scan, endoscopy and, of course, blood tests. All returned cancer negative results at four weeks prior to death. It was only at three weeks prior to death from metastatic disease that the blood test results first indicated abnormality. A cancer specialist told me he couldn't find the primary cause of the cancer but that, unfortunately, had now become irrelevant.
  18. PEA had to reposition our power poles due to highway realignment. All the data cables to our street were severed by a PEA employee using huge shears/bolt cutters. Everyone complained to their respective ISP's. In our case, it took three visits over four days by AIS before our internet was restored. Could it be that the cable in question does not belong to Telephones Of Thailand/National Telecom?
  19. Can confirm. Check-in at Munich on Thai Airways in September asked for sight of my Retirement Extension.
  20. Don't wish to be racist so simply stating a matter of fact as I remember it. Back in the 1970's in U.K. a comedian had a catchphrase of; 'A big fat Belgian bas@+$%'. I can't remember his name but he was certainly on TV for a while back then.
  21. 'yanking him by the neck from his vehicle to the ground'. Horrible at any speed. I wonder how fast (plus other factors) would be needed to completely decapitate someone?
  22. I was told that blood test is the main indicator of cancer. However, my mother's was normal four weeks prior to her death from metastatic disease. The readings only became abnormal at three weeks before death. No tumours visible on CT scan or endoscope. Tissue sample taken gave normal results upon analysis.
  23. As already stated in this thread and others, Brits are accostomed to their totally free National Health Service. They believe they will always be able to return for free treatment if necessary.
