  1. When I was admitted to the A/E dept of my Regional Government Hospital the first thing they asked for was my passport. I assumed it was to create a medical record (rather than hold me to ransome) and I was proved correct. They handed it back to me very shortly afterwards.
  2. I don't let them get to me. I keep the ringer turned off on my phones. That teaches them!
  3. 10 out of 10 for this list IMHO!
  4. Agree! My practice nurse (in UK) uses and highly recommends Omron machines. I purchased the basic Omron M2 in UK for 29.99 GBP (around 1,400 Thai Baht). Found it absolutely accurate. Maybe a good idea for anyone to buy another machine as a constant cross-check and backup?
  5. Thanks for confirming. Sheryl is only looking after our interests. $600 US dollars per month is a lot of money for me. I’d hate any claim to be denied for ‘lack of information/failure to disclose’. It appears that Cigna Global are not following ‘the norm’ or even the customer information on their web application system. I was asked about my collapse due to low blood glucose in 2018. ‘What were the symptoms? How long did they last? What treatment did you receive? What did the doctor say? Any repetition since? Do you currently take any medication for this? Then, I was prompted to confirm whether diabetes was diagnosed or not? My truthful answer was not! The problem is that this may be good enough to issue my policy with no exclusions but would they pay out for a similar incident in the future?
  6. I do like them so much too!
  7. If NoShow started off on Skyscanner and it took him to booking.com that would be exactly the same as what many of us would do. I usually end up booking on trip.com. Seems to turn out OK.
  8. Substitute blood donation for dentist for me!
  9. I've been issued with a boarding pass at the check-in then stopped at the boarding gate and asked to produce return/onward ticket or 'visa'. Airline staff obviously know that passengers with hand luggage only check-in online or at airport totems. On another occasion I was boarding for the second leg of a three leg flight (I was issued with boarding passes for all three legs) and deboarded by departure gate staff. They told me I shouldn't have been permitted to board my first flight.
  10. Thai Airways Munich to Suvarnabhumi are keen on seeing return/onward tickets or 'some sort of visa' (as they put it).
  11. Thanks, I have read this. Hopefully (how241) will be along sometime to confirm whether he has since received a medical questionnaire to complete since taking out his silver policy. I applied because I wished to know whether two previous condition/incident (hypertension and collapse due to low blood glucose) would result in exclusions. I asked for a sample of their Medical Questionnaire via email attachment. Cigna Global told me they could complete their Medical Questionnaire over the phone in 5-10 minutes. This is what I did and their underwriting team decided within a minute or so to accept my application and provide cover without any exclusions. I haven't proceeded due to Sheryl's warning that too much is at stake to do things over the phone. Best to apply via application form, submit full details and keep copies. I have also been advised by a very helpful member (Etaoin Shrdlu) to obtain and supply my full medical records, thus there can be no accusations of 'failing to disclose'.
  12. Not necessary to confirm (reconfirm) your booking. When you check-in at the airport you simply hand over your passport, they will weigh your hold luggage and take it away. They may also weigh your hand luggage and affix a label before giving it back to you. You already have a six character code which is recognised at all airports and you can use that (or scan your passport) at airport totems to print/reprint your boarding pass if necessary. You may also be checked-in automatically and sent a boarding pass via email. Up to you whether you wish to show that on your phone, print it out in advance or do neither and use the one the check-in desk gives you. They will all be the same.
  13. Not the case with Cigna Global. Immediately after you have answered their questions via telephone your application is referred to their underwriting team who confirm within a minute if your application has been successful and, if so, whether any exclusions apply. Another member has reported and kindly supplied screenshots in the last week to confirm that, after making his first payment, his policy documentation arrived clearly stating the commencement date and 'No exclusions'.
  14. A friend, neighbour and self-employed plumber and central heating engineer went for his annual medical. Doctor told him; ‘I’d like to fit a stent. You are not at risk and might never be. However, certain places can become blocked and I believe in prevention rather than cure’. My friend agreed. He declared this to his health insurance company. His premiums tripled.
  15. Very good information thanks! I simply carried a paper print-out of my annual European Travel Insurance when visiting European countries. I never thought to advise family in the UK.
  16. That's the ideal Simon! Someone who hasn't been near a doctor all their lives, never had an annual medical, never been admitted to hospital has a completely clean sheet. An insurance company would gleefully cover them without any exclusions.
  17. Agree. Surprising lack of questions! When I applied previously (to another company) I was told that any and all previous conditions would be excluded. According to Cigna Global if no recurrence and no medication prescribed since, no exclusions apply.
  18. This is the Health Questionnaire kindly provided by Liverpool Lou; https://www.cignaglobal.com/dvc-pdfs/CLICE-EP19/en/CGHO Application Form Broker_EN_09_2020.pdf?elqTrackId=6a8f5f2511d44710b9f842a67a04a3f5&elqaid=804&elqat=2
  19. Even their customers don't seem to know (or claim they don't) if they're licenced to ride motorcycles. They are speaking various languages. People always seem to find a way around restrictions.
  20. Definitely. Cycling is regarded as a hazardous activity. If he had taken out travel insurance he would have needed to have specified what he intended to do whilst on holiday and paid extra premium to cover it.
  21. If your job is 'sifting' claims for the purpose of denying them how else could your performance be measured?
  22. Thanks for this. I see the date on the form is September 2020. I'm waiting for a 'phone call from Dubai from them. I can keep this on my screen and compare it with the questions as they ask them.
  23. I worked with a lady who previously worked for a large UK Insurance company (the one that has it's roots in Rochdale). She told me her job was 'sifting' claims using a checklist. Staff received productivity bonuses.
  24. UK NHS would refuse and tell you to go home. At least, that was my most recent experience!
  25. Doubly tough! Paid his premiums and never claimed. There was no upper age limit when he took out the policy yet they've decided to sack him off because he's reached 80!
