SURVEY: Jo Ferrari -- An opportunity for change or business as usual?
Caldera replied to Scott's topic in Thailand News
If anything, other police officers are now asking themselves, why don't do I get hundreds of million baht myself? And a few of them will figure out how to make more. Positive change? I don't think so. -
US Passport Visa extension without Visa
Caldera replied to XtraFly's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That doesn't matter at all. Those who arrived later can get Covid extensions all the same. -
The green Covid Vaccine Certificate - and how you get it.
Caldera replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
One obvious option would be to buy a smartphone. It's useful for many other things as well. ???? -
What is the Secret to Happiness?

Don't marry, pay as you go. -
bank passbook full
Caldera replied to novo58's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I've never even heard that you can have pages added to a passbook. Whenever I showed up at the bank with a full passbook, they issued me a new one. How many pages can be added before it jams the passbook update machine, I'm wondering? -
Best route/visa to return to Thailand from Laos
Caldera replied to simon43's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
All is well that ends well, but I'm sure you could have done without the extra scrutiny. -
England adds Thailand and Montenegro to travel red list
Caldera replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
That sure sucks for Brits who planned to holiday here, all three of them. Seriously though, the only thing that surprises me is that Thailand wasn't already moved to the red list during the previous review. -
It works. I've installed Mor Phrom and could register with my "Thai ID number" starting with 6 given to me when I got my 1st jab. The details of which can be seen in the app, as well as my appointment for the 2nd jab.

That's great news and a much more reliable indicator than the number of positive tests.

Weaker COVID Controls to Be Considered on Friday
Caldera replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
For people vaccinated in Thailand, I'd assume that you'll show your vaccination status on your Mor Phrom app to the waitstaff before they seat you or take your order. The same could be done with the paper certificate, as they could scan the QR code to validate it. How that would work for foreign tourists (or people vaccinated elsewhere in general) is anyone's guess. Same problem in other countries. -
Understanding Administering of 2nd AZShot
Caldera replied to Havenstreet1940's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
When the appointment for the 2nd jab is made, they can allocate the required vaccines accordingly. It's all in the MoPH database. Hardly rocket science, and while there's an AstraZeneca shortage, the monthly deliveries seem quite predictable now. -

Can I Has Park? Or in proper English, please consider reopening Bangkok's public parks. Thank you. -
Retirement with just under 800K
Caldera replied to OneeyedJohn's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Just get a marriage extension one more time and switch over next time, which will give you all the time you need to meet the requirements. -
They haven't really bothered with checkpoints this time around. As they've suspended most public interprovincial transport services, they probably reckon that cuts down interprovincial travel sufficiently.

COE Delay (10 days total so far)... ??
Caldera replied to moon47's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
They told you three days before departure. How has that date passed already? -
MOC to investigate ‘second Angkor Wat’ in Thailand
Caldera replied to geovalin's topic in Cambodia News
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. May I suggest that you simply feel flattered, Cambodia. -
Quite a stretch! When I'm done at a 7/11, I also use hand sanitizer. Do you reckon that the Thais working there find that offensive, because I as a foreigner think they have Covid? And if you don't apply it thoroughly, on both hands, why even bother? I, for one, think it's great that they're making an effort to keep themselves and their customers safe.

Best route/visa to return to Thailand from Laos
Caldera replied to simon43's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Sad to hear that, I've been following your reports from Laos with interest. I hope this situation can be resolved without too much hassle - best of luck! Entering Thailand should be relatively straightforward at this point if needed. -
People who retire in Thailand - Whats your plan?
Caldera replied to Leveraged's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I think having lived in the smog of Bangkok for more than a decade will greatly reduce the time I'll eventually spend demented in a retirement home. I'm looking forward to my retirement here, and my plan is simply to enjoy it for as long as possible.- 202 replies

Overthinking it is probably futile, but what I can say is, I don't like it one bit!
