  1. That would be a good week to avoid Bangkok, then...
  2. The only surprise, after reading the headline, was that this didn't happen where this kind of thing usually tends to happen - in Pattaya.
  3. That doesn't surprise me at all, starting to roll this out in peak season would have been madness. Some damage has been done though, as some foreign media have reported on this slightly distorted (along the lines of Thailand getting rid of visa exempt entries, as pre-approval will be required for travel).
  4. Let's see if she will even still be in office when the law becomes effective in January.
  5. That is an outright ridiculous amount. Hopefully you can find better offers.
  6. To re-authenticate Thai banking apps on a new phone, it seems to be necessary that you're connected to your Thai mobile network. People have reported that they weren't able to do it via WiFi or roaming from abroad.
  7. Yes, that works fine, I've removed my Thai SIM card at times and that had no impact on my Thai banking apps - they kept working.
  8. You can't move Thai banking apps to another phone while abroad. That's a major headache, especially if you're forced (by loss, theft or breakage) to use a new phone. Otherwise, it's probably best to keep using the old phone for the Thai banking apps until returning to Thailand.
  9. A violent shootout, hear hear! That makes me wonder, are there any shootouts that aren't violent?
  10. Eminem: Sing For The Moment
  11. Who's Taylor Swift? I thought he's running against Kamala Harris.
  12. Muppets. I'm not opposed to buying the latest and greatest tech if needed, but lining up for hours just to get it a few days earlier is way over the top.
  13. I'm with Melania on this one. If you have her looks, then by all means, let us all see as much as possible.
  14. That has always been the law. Enforcement has obviously been somewhat inconsistent, as per usual.
  15. Why bother with making up a business you don't have? Just use the medical tourism option, get an appointment from a hospital or clinic and use that. Thailand is keen to promote itself as a medical hub.
  16. Of course they can, and they do. They might have a specific reason to target a particular condo or have just been tasked with making the rounds in an area.
  17. Maybe President Biden should use the immunity he was given by gifting some justices with accidents. That would be hilariously ironic.
  18. Big surprise. Not. That's probably the main reason for introducing the ETA, as that will allow them to collect the money conveniently and upfront.
  19. It would best be described as a special kind of tourist visa. It definitely isn't a non-immigrant visa.
  20. It's as you said, they moved the functionality from their cyber banking to their KPLUS app. I'm using a virtual Visa card that I applied for using the app, in the Debit Cards section. Works fine.
  21. He forgot to mention that some refugees in Ohio aren't just eating pets, but may very well be cannibals. A 2nd debate would provide him with an opportunity to get this important message out. Seriously though, after watching the 1st debate, do people really want or need to see more of this?
  22. I think only Chaeng Watthana makes 90-day reports a requirement for issuing a certificate of residence. In touristy places like Pattaya, Phuket and Chiang Mai, getting one as a tourist may be easier than elsewhere.
  23. As you can do all that even when entering visa exempt or with a tourist visa, there's no doubt that it's possible. The only real question is whether DTV holders qualify for 5-year driving licenses or only for 2-year ones. I'd guess it's the latter, as the DTV is pretty much a special tourist visa.
  24. You won't be seeing THAT again with this aging and poorly educated workforce.
  25. That's a laughable allegation, it was a completely harmless gesture.
