  1. That's the case, but Air Asia might still have it in their terms of carriage. Requiring 6 months passport validity throughout their network is much easier to enforce. A related question is where you plan to fly FROM. Are you sure that this other country doesn't require you to have a passport that is still valid for 6 months?
  2. You could still do it on your own, that's a much friendlier border than Poi Pet. Public transport from Phnom Penh to Koh Kong, a tuktuk to the border, public transport from the border to the bus terminal in Trat.
  3. That's actually a really nice way to look at it.
  4. I think what's dodgy is your friend's husband, who either doesn't take her extension very seriously or can't handle dealing with bureaucracy. Something to keep in mind moving forward; maybe she can consider other visa options (if she has any) that don't require his participation.
  5. They check for the stamps from Laos, yes. At land borders, that's standard procedure. If you don't have stamps from Laos, they will usually be kind enough to tell you to get them. On a bad day, they could charge you with attempting to enter the country illegally though.
  6. Either by chance, or not at all until the overstayer chooses to leave. In either case, it could be a matter of days or a matter of years, no guarantees though.
  7. You need to enter and exit Laos (which includes purchasing a visa, for most nationalities) before re-entering Thailand.
  8. Alright, so it has been botched by the hungover husband, not by nefarious immigration shenanigans, that's a relief.
  9. The Phnom Penh website is a lot better than many others, and lists their specific requirements. Some visas require residency status in Cambodia (NOT necessarily being a Cambodian citizen), while others don't. Which is why I'm leaning towards thinking that they don't list the METV on purpose.
  10. Strangely, it's not being mentioned as one of the visas that are available on the website of the Thai embassy in Phnom Penh. Their other information is pretty up to date (they even list the LTR visa), so I'm wondering if this is just a mistake or policy. For Cambodian citizens who frequently travel to Thailand but stay just the usual few days (or to transit on their way to and from other countries), they're covered by their visa exempt allowance. Maybe with those who wish to stay longer, the embassy wants to approve each stay individually. So you'd need to check with them, or with an agent that deals with them on a regular basis.
  11. What's wrong with having travel insurance? Having to wait for your family to set up a Go Fund Me campaign while in a coma at the other end of the world sounds rather stressful to me.
  12. Is this just a dumb plug for that drug peddling company, or does the OP have other issues?
  13. Comparing this with post-Covid tourism recovery rates in other countries popular with tourists, they're clearly doing something wrong and falling behind.
  14. How about some compromise, spend a little more but still keep most of your money? I don't know how old your daughter is and what you've invested in her education, but generally speaking, setting her up with a good education would be more beneficial than trying to leave her loads of cash.
  15. In Phnom Penh in particular, it's well worth to use an agent to apply for a Thai tourist visa. It costs you $20 more, but saves you two round-trips to the Thai embassy. The agent will submit a flight itinerary along with your application that meets the embassy's requirements and costs you nothing.
  16. Vietnam and Cambodia. I've been there many times and generally like it there, but as long as Thailand remains open, I'd prefer Thailand. Just.
  17. Oh, bad air is having an early start this year. Seems to be a trend, it just keeps worsening.
  18. Yes it's a well-connected and much recommended visa agent. I'd still be cautious. There's a lot of money in providing "creative" longterm visa options to those who aren't old enough for a retirement "visa" yet. But keep in mind that those schemes are okay until they aren't. When the crackdown on volunteer visas happened, customers of that particular well-trusted agent were affected by the fallout just like anyone else. From the sparse information available on that other thread, they use an obscure little immigration office in the South to obtain a one year extension based on business activities (without "working", so most likely a position on the board of directors of a Thai company). I'd be concerned about two things: Firstly, if that office issues a suspiciously high number of those visas, that in itself could lead to scrutiny. Secondly, if people on the same kind of visa happen to get caught up in criminal activities unrelated to that visa as such, it's pretty much guaranteed that a wider investigation and crackdown will follow.
  19. I'd say the rise of antisemitism we're seeing is at least in parts a direct result of the state terrorism perpetrated by the government and military of Israel. As all attempts by the West to rein in the war criminal Netanyahu have failed thus far, things are bound to get worse before they get better.
  20. And one of the reasons why the world is such a dangerous place are the banksters from JP Morgan. Oh the irony.
  21. Are you sure that they issue visas to an applicant who isn't a resident of Japan? That shouldn't be taken for granted. The OP can apply for the eVisa while still at home in the US. If the embassy questions the itinerary (unlikely IMHO), the OP can provide them with his ticket from the US to Japan as further proof.
  22. Stellar police work on display once again. Point fingers first, try to make sense of the case later.
  23. Take your pick, there are more than 200 symptoms to choose from apparently. https://www.ama-assn.org/delivering-care/public-health/long-covid-over-200-symptoms-and-search-guidance
  24. Seriously now? They will be attracted to come to Thailand because they won't have to pay the usual 50 baht for a SIM card anymore? The only catch being that the upcoming "tourist entry fee" will more than wipe out that enormous saving.
  25. You shouldn't have any issue turning around immediately with an Elite visa.
