  1. The headline screams that foreigners don't need to worry, but then the article gives us plenty of reasons to be worried. Best case scenario, you won't need to pay (more) tax, but it will be a bureaucratic nightmare to declare foreign-sourced income and to prove that it has already been taxed elsewhere. Just looking at other departments of the Thai bureaucracy that I've already had the "pleasure" to deal with, that in itself would be a good reason to spend less than 180 days per year in Thailand from next year on.
  2. Not possible at the airport if you aren't flying internationally from that very airport.
  3. I guess everyone knows that the PM's salary is insignificant. It's the opportunity for you and your cronies to rob the country blind that really matters. I'm not expecting this government to be any different from previous ones in this regard. So I'll go with "meaningless gesture attempting to score points".
  4. I'm sure the Kazakh visitors in Pattaya will be dazzled. All three of them.
  5. Why would they blacklist you? Why should you worry about getting blacklisted? If there's a credible criminal complaint against you, they would get an arrest warrant, let you fly in and arrest you when you visit again.
  6. Loved by whom? That sounds like a big joke to me,I don't know anyone who loves him.
  7. Because they are addicted to agent money. Even if you actually meet the requirements, chances are they still want extra money from you.
  8. They know everything but different IOs react differently to what they can see, so it's not as clear-cut as you make it sound.
  9. The headline claims "witch hunt" while the article sheds some light on his housing situation which is more than suspicious. Has there ever been any police general in Thailand who wasn't corrupt in one way or another? Chances that this is nothing but a "witch hunt" are slim!
  10. Big Joke must be the only Thai who wears socks while being at home in his underwear. That in itself is one revelation too many.
  11. I didn't say it's gone, I said it's endemic. Of course people still get hospitalized and die from it, same as from many other diseases.
  12. Just the fact that he owns five houses within the same gated community and uses four of them for housing his "team members" makes him look more than suspicious.
  13. Seriously, an update on Covid-19 in September 2023? The pandemic is over, it's endemic now. There really isn't anything more to say.
  14. Myanmar has both, Laos has economic instability, Cambodia has neither. A bit silly to lump them all together.
  15. That's an extra contempt of court charge right there. He clearly believes he's above the law.
  16. He knows (or should know) how this works. For them to show up in full gear to raid the house of such a high-ranking police officer, they must have had either extremely damning evidence or the backing of someone extremely powerful. Either way, he's toast, his protestations of innocence will get him nowhere.
  17. The Thai PM looks more Chinese than some of these Chinese tourists. If I hadn't known him already, I would have had trouble to figure out which one he is on these pictures. ???? On a more serious note, I'm surprised that he didn't kneel down before them.
  18. That's a bit rich. I think Thai tourists to the EU still need to be scrutinized, as too many of them aren't actually tourists (work and/or overstay). The income gap needs to become more narrow first for this to become feasible.
  19. Ask those who once bought baht at 70+ THB/GBP. Or in other words, some of those UK expats might expect that the GBP will continue to depreciate against the THB, so holding (some of) their assets in THB might not be a bad idea.
  20. Owning five houses and housing "members of your team" on a meager public servant salary is sufficiently suspicious in itself. I guess the decision who will be the next national police chief has been made. And someone has decided that Big Joke's fall from grace will be permanent this time around.
  21. Ha. Haha. Hahaha. A big joke indeed. The most hilarious part is that some people on here actually thought he's a good guy, despite rising in the ranks of that crooked organization (the Thai police farce) in record time. ????
  22. It's more like all those companies are looking for alternatives to China, they aren't suddenly keen to get into Thailand specifically.
  23. And in a few months they'll realize that the number of Chinese call centers, abductions and etc. have all exploded in record time.
  24. They probably broke it when they rolled out the bright new TM30 website. Anything else would have been a major surprise, considering their track record of delivering shoddy IT work, every time.
