Madness! PLUS: Since the financial crisis of 2008 incredible amounts of "liquidity" have been pumped into the system, just to keep it going. Come hell or high water "economic growth MUST be maintained". As a result, now we are sitting on a gigantic global "debt pyramid". No more "free money". Interest on debt has to be paid again, as before. Just to service this debt has now become a major factor for a good number of countries/companies. On the horizon: "You can't fool all the bond investors all the time". Another pathway to Armageddon.

Revelation was written in a time of extreme local turmoil. The author expecting it to happen "in the very near future". Another wandering priest told his followers that the Kingdom of God on Earth will come to pass "in the very near future". "The very near future" was some 2000 years ago. None of it materialised.

As in New York, London, Amsterdam. Mind altering chemicals as an alternative to something called "normal life". Good luck.

Recommendation: Have a 45 year old Ladyboy give you a BJ. Experiance counts. During the process, you may want to sing the Thai National Anthem. As opposed to some "good looking" 22 year old Thai girls, that still consider a male penis as a "strange object". not really knowing what to do with it.

Plenty of university studies concerning empathy. The result is always the same: - Within family = very high. - Friends = high. - Misfortunes affecting thousands of fellow humans far away: = Acknowledement. Possibly sending money to some NGO's at best. We are not "a brotherhood of man". We are competitors as soon we leave the inner circle of Family/Friends. End of.

Here is a clue: Look at the eyes of Thais. Not truly "Asian" but Almond shaped. Indicating that old time "Immigrants from India" mixed and mingled with "the locals" quite extensively.

A sure fire way to get bored in Thailand: Live in the sticks for 5 years alone, with no "in house" female. Strictly seeking occasional "entertainment" some 150 Km away. At first, there were 5 Farangs in the neighborhood. They died like flies. Eventually I found myself truly "alone". Although my Thai language skills increased nicely, I found it hard to connect with Thais. (There must be something wrong with a Farang that has no Thai female in the house). In the final stage, my only friend was the internet. At this point, I decided to terminate my "in the sticks" experiment. The point: A Farangs existence is somehow connected to a Thai female. Be it in some family Country Isaan Comfort, or the variety of female companionship in places like Pattaya. Seems to me, for most Farangs the companionship with a Thai female is the "anchorage", that makes them want to stay and avoid too much boredom. One way or the other. PS: Makes sense. I always mistrusted Farangs, wearing sunglasses at midnight, claiming they are here for the temples.

Who got bored in Thailand and went back?

You owe it to yourself to find out beforehand what a private health insurance will cost you in Thailand. -
Amazing. I could have written that. I am blessed. Same story. But many of my Thai Farang friends can not write the same story.

Or frightingly closer to reality.

Over the last 4 to 5 years inflation is within global rates. The only thing that has increased overproportionally is female companionship. + 100 to 150 %.

The general consensus is that men age "better" than women. Have you considered exchanging your current female companion for a "newer model"? As I gather, quite a few Farangs in Thailand take this into consideration. Mainly those, that have not committed major funds into the existing relationship. For obvious reasons. As I further gather, in order to avoid expensive divorce procedures, they start a "second life", a bit removed from their "home base". This usually works until the s*it hits the fan. How about you? If concerned spill your guts. How to get a "newer model" without disturbing the "older model" too much? PS: I would not consider Agatha Cristies "Murder is easy" as a viable solution.

Still not sure what the OP is hoping to find in Japan that he didn't find in Thailand.

At your age, time is no more on your side. Make sure you have established your wife as beneficiary. Deposit your last will legally in Thailand as well as in your home country. If not, some "home country vultures" will emerge. Keep living frugually, as you have no time left to take advantage of "long term market trends".

After having joined AN shortly after the American Revolution and having read 1.3 million threads, I started to wonder if one could distill all this information into one thread. Including everything except visa matters. (Too volatile). Still, some main concerns seem to take shape and bubbling to the surface for western seniors, contemplating to "relocate". a) In the mean time, every "western" country has some kind of "safety-net" for senior citizens (yes, even the USA). b) No exotic country known, that offers (free or low cost) access for Western Seniors to any national Social Security Safety Net, just by taking residence there. c) To substitute the lack of any "social security net" in the new country by marriage is a 2 sided sword and highly speculative at best. As I gather, those points mentioned above have become part of any relocation plans for western seniors with access to internet. Diminishing their "re-location" urge dramatically. Especially as the price for a stable female companionship has increased to 15 K per month in Thailand. ------------------------ - This was mainly about financial concerns affecting western seniors, contemplating relocation. Next time we will preferrably talk about sex, drugs and rock and roll still available to western seniors. Wherever that may be. Cheers.

Since Covid, Police is more leniant concerning Thais sleeping on the beach. This goes for Thais only. You wanting to pitch a tent on the beach as a Farang? Better look for a very secluded beach with no Police and no 7/11. Alternative: Thailand has many inland-lakes with beaches. Nobody cares who sleeps there with or without tent. Just buy a couple of fish from the early morning Thai fisherman and you will be fine. With or without tent.

In Europe, yes. Recently. BEFORE: I wish I had copied a study by some UK University. This study came to the conclusion that since 200 A.D. until 1900 there were merely 43 years in total when there was no war in Europe. Big or small. The study covered Europe only. From England in the west all the way to Russia in the east. Conclusion: Since the beginning of recorded history, we love to settle arguments with brute force. It must be in our genes. OR: We just love extended barroom brawls. Don't we?

Correction: Chat Pa Way is in a North Westernly direction. Originating from Ratchabury. Sorry. If you should get there keep me posted. PM would be OK.

I have a place in "Chat Pa Way". Abot 30 Km from Ratchabury in a north easterly direction. Haven't been there for over 5 years. Nice quiet place. Never anything happening. This is the world standing still. Great place for Farangs having lost their "bearings". Because: Nothing new ever happens. Time stands still.

Also up to debate. Considering the fact that I never had to pay for an expensive divorce, I had an extremely cheap sex life. My visits to Pattaya resemble more like "Family Gatherings", involving 2 generations. Both generations thrilled with my stamp collection.

Open to debate. I prefer women that know what to do. Not needing any "training courses". I don't bother with "apprentices". The women I refer to are still 20 to 30 years younger than me. Some have 25 year old daughters. I share my stamp collection with them with the approval of their mothers.
