  1. I find it kind of funny that you ask such a question. The first thing you would do is get on the computer and go to the University's website and they will tell you what courses they offer and the requirements. It's a very simple process. Or I guess, you could come on the forum and ask all of us University "Experts" , as we have an answer for everything...
  2. During my first year here in Thailand I would do a cash advance every month with Bangkok Bank in the amount of 100,000 baht. I went into the bank to do this and Bangkok Bank charged no fee at all. However, my USA bank charged me $140 fee every time. I used my USA bank credit card (debit). Sometimes, I even went up to 200,000 without any issues at all. One thing that I did notice, Bangkok Bank didn't care how much I had in my USA bank, you could say any amount you wanted, even if you didn't have it in your bank account. Then I got wiser and stopped doing cash advances and just transfer my money (swift) and it only cost me $40 bank fee and was here within 24 hours.
  3. I don't know anything about the test while you are attending the language school for learning Thai. But I did have to take a test when I had to obtain a new Education Visa. They took me to a room with two Thai's and had me read some things from a book. Then we basically just had a conversation in Thai to see how well I spoke. Thank God I can speak just as good, as a Thai, so I had no issues at all. Sorry I( couldn't help you out on your question. But maybe your test will similar to the way they conducted mine. Good luck.
  4. I am not an expert. but I believe most Ed Visa with a University is usually good for the entire year. Unless your passport expires before the year is up, then the Ed Visa expires the same day. Which means both you and the University knew that you couldn't finish the year of schooling. The University here in Chiang Mai will not even issue you a Ed Visa if you don't have enough time on your passport to complete the entire school year. If your country doesn't have an Embassy or Consulate here in Thailand, you just need to google where your countries embassy that covers Thailand is located. Then contact that embassy ASAP (by phone) and inform them of your problem. They should be able to help you out. Good luck.
  5. Some of the months have changed. After having both Pfizer shots for my 1st & 2nd, my booster was Moderna which is no longer 6 months wait, it is now a 5 month wait. they moved it up by a month. Here's the chart:
  6. I don't know if this will be any help for you or not? But since you are having trouble getting through to the Thai Embassy. The closet Thai Consulate to you is in Portland, Oregon. Maybe they can help you? Here's their information: ROYAL THAI HONORARY CONSULATE-GENERAL 1136 NW Hoyt St, Suite 210, Portland, OR 97209 Tel : (503) 221-0440 | Fax : (503) 221-0550 E-mail : [email protected] www.thai-or.com
  7. I have had much success with FedEx and DHL with sending important documents. I have had several issues with the local post (missing letters and so on).
  8. Before I retired I was a Restaurant Owner. Sold everything and moved to Thailand with my family. Now during retirement, I spend my time investing in the stock market & crypto currency. Funny thing, is I make more money through investing in Crypto than I did as a restaurant owner.
  9. I use a device called, Magic Jack. It cost me $39.95 for a year usage. It carries a USA phone number. I connect the device from my landline phone to my computer or router and I can call any number in the USA free. And any of my family can call me free at anytime. I use it when dealing with my banks and business stuff. Since it has a USA phone number, everyone when talking to me, thinks I am in the USA. Of course there are other methods out there, but I like think one. They also have a way where you can connect the device up to your cell Thai cell phone.
  10. It looks like there are several good ways to transfer money to Thailand, that I didn't know about. As for myself, I transfer from my Chase Bank (USA) to Bangkok Bank (Thailand) and pay a flat fee of $40 for whatever the amount is. They use the SWIFT method. It's simple for me, just a few "clicks" and hit SEND. 24 hours later the money is in my Bangkok Bank account. I guess there are cheaper ways that charge a lessor fee, but I am 71 years old now and I find I like to stay with the ways I understand and know. However, I need to mention that my bank does offer two different transfer fees. The $40 flat rate is when you transfer the money in US dollars ( this way it will show up as a FTT (Bank code), in your Thai account), or if I send it in baht, the bank fee is only $5 (but it shows as a local transfer in my Thai account, which doesn't work for immigration purposes).
  11. The local Chiang Mai immigration has alway wanted just one copy of everything. I should say for the last eight years, they have. But then we all know that sometimes it depends on what city you live in. They don't always have the same rules.
  12. I have had the same issue. I have learned over time, not to include any type of a food product, as there is a good chance it might not make it. I notice if you send a package to the USA and they find something they don't approve or, they send the entire package back to sender. Whereas, a package coming from the USA to Thailand, if customs finds something they do not approve of, they do not send the package back to the sender. You have to make arrangements, which will cost you a ton of fees, just to get your package out of Thai customs. But if you refuse to pay all of their fees and jump through their hoops, then they classify it as abandoned package. Good luck..
  13. I had the same problem when I used my Chase Bank credit card (USA). Even after I told them I was in Thailand. A friend suggested I obtain an International Credit Card, so I did. And now I have no issues at all. I don't even have to inform them that I am not in my home country. I have been using the card for over four years now.
  14. I don't think there is an actual budget for 50,000 baht for teachers. My son is a teacher at an International School. From what I understand most schools are having troubles meeting their budget. As times are hard for them. Not all schools pay the same rate of pay. It depends on the type of school and its location on how much a teacher would be paid. If you have an idea on where you want to live, email the school and ask them. When my son was looking for a teacher position, he found out that International Schools pay more than a standard school. At the International School he gets paid more than the teachers that can speak english only. As he can speak, write and read Thai, so that helped a lot.
  15. Your statement is 100% wrong. You must not be looking in the right spot. I use Grab all of the time and it has always shown the price, before you hit "book".
  16. I have lived here for 7 years now and have rented 4 different places (condo & homes). Out of all 4 places I always received back 100% of my deposit. I never had any issues with any of my landlords. Before I moved, I made sure the place were clean, air con serviced and no damage to anything. And all bills paid up to date. I gave them no reason to have to hold back any part of my deposit. All of my deposits were large sums. My deposits ran from 40,000 to 80,000 baht, depending on the place I rented. And they all paid my back within a 2 week period.
  17. If I had a choice between the two (AZ or Pfizer), I would pick Pfizer in a heart beat. As it offers the best protection between the two. But since he sounds like he's not sure, maybe there is something we don't know concerning his health. Then I would advise him to contact his doctor and make sure Pfizer is okay for him. Unless you want to take the advice of all of us "expects" here in the forum. I wish him the best.
  18. You have to have your money in a Thai Bank here in Thailand. Plus the Bangkok Bank you mentioned in New York, is not a regular bank where you can have a checking or savings account with.
  19. Before the covid-19 hit, I use to fly back and forth between Thailand & the USA, once a year. I tried several different airlines, until I settled with Qatar Q-Suite. I feel it is the best business class out there. It makes you feel like you are in first class. Pricing is much better then Emirates.
  20. I just adopted two corgi puppies (7 weeks old) from a local breeder in Chiang Mai. I am 70 years old and had no issues at all. I did a search on Facebook and that is how I found the breeder. But I agree with some of the other posts. If you put the word out to all of the Thais you know, that you want a puppy, someone will have one for you.
  21. I understand two of your statements, but #1. Yes, you can do your 90-day report by drive-thru at immigration. Just because your immigration doesn't offer such a service, doesn't mean other immigration are the same. My local immigration does offer such a service. Every 90 days I ride my big bike and use their drive-thru service and I am out within minutes. They started this service here, due to covid-19. And it works great.
  22. I understand your feelings about the bank messing with your account without your permission, as "you think" you own & control your bank account 100%. Well, I hate to tell you, no bank in the world allows you to control your account 100%. When a mistake or error is made/found, the bank is responsible to fix it ASAP. If they had to wait for a person's permission, which who knows how long that would be, more problems/issues can happen, making the problem even bigger. The extra money that was put into your account by mistake wasn't yours, so it was taken back. There is no need to obtain your permission for the bank to fix an error. They didn't mess nothing up in your account, so theirs no need for you to make a big thing about it. Be happy that the bank is on top of things and fixed the error before it turned into a major issue. As for the "code" they used to reverse the money out of your account, they probably didn't have a special key code for the error, so they used what they had to fix the issue. As their main goal was to reverse the extra deposit. Job done, Thai style.
  23. I just purchase an Apple iPad for my son to use for school. The only suggestion I have is make sure you purchase "Apple Care", too. I was glad I did.
  24. I start my day at 7:00 am. Feed the dogs & take them outside, then make my breakfast. I have wheat toast, scrambled eggs with cheese, fried potatoes and a glass of apple juice. Or I go out and have a "English Style Breakfast".
  25. Last month I purchased the Ledger Nano X and S through Amazon. Everything went smooth with no issues at all. Received the products in three weeks after order.
