  1. I use http://siammovemanagement.com/ They give my a discount because I belong to the CM Expats Club
  2. My son's girlfriend is a Youtube vlogger and gets paid monthly by Youtube in baht. She had to give Youtube her Thai id and etc. Which is the same way you would if you lived in the USA. You have to give them all of your tax info and etc. YT will not pay anyone until you give them all the paperwork needed.
  3. You ask best way to transfer a large sum of money? I went to my local Bangkok Bank to find out the procedures. For large sums I decided it was too much red tape. I was talking with a friend and he said since I have a Crypto account with Coinbase in the USA. Just take my money here and buy bitcoin through a Thailand Exchange. The second I buy it, I then can cash it out through my USA exchange. Last month I tried it and it worked perfect. It was so simple.
  4. I buy all my tools from HomePro. They have a very good selection to pick from.
  5. From my understanding, any transaction done "inside" at a bank you have to show id. Thai's show their id and foreigner's must show their passport. When I did my banking back in my home country, you always had to show your id. So why would it be any difference here in Thailand? One of the reasons why banks ask for id, is to protect you and to protect them. Does everyone always follow the rules, no. So now and then a bank rep. might not ask for id.
  6. siammovemanagement.com [email protected] I used them last year for moving and it went real good. The head person spoke english. I would use them again.
  7. It's a easy answer for your question. It's a BIG NO. You can not help out or do anything unless you have a Work Permit. It has nothing to do if you get paid or not. I don't know why so many people try to get around this subject or try to find a gray area. It's very simple, you need to have a Work Permit. Therefore, if you want to "help out", change your VISA so you can obtain a Work Permit. If not, kick back at home and enjoy life...
  8. Yesterday I just received my Moderna Bivalent vaccine booster shot for FREE at the Chiang Mai Neurology Hospital. They do it from 8:00 am to 12:noon and there is NEVER a wait.
  9. I had the same question last week. So instead of asking people, I went ahead and googled it. I received my information within seconds. Found two Hospitals here in Chiang Mai that has the bivalent vaccine. Went there today, no wait at all and received the Moderna Bivalent booster.
  10. When I took morphine for pain, I found if I eat something first then take it, I had less stomach pain. I remember a doctor in the past told me to never take a pain medicine on a empty stomach. Another thing, instead of taking the amount you presently take all at one time, break it up into two smaller doses all within a hour of each other, as I found that helped too.
  11. You are right. It is best to have a Consent Letter from the mother. When I traveled with my minor son, without his mom, I had a Consent Letter. Most places will never ask to see one, but there are those that might. Because some places want to make sure you are not taking the minor away to another country without the other parents consent. Like you are in a court battle with your spouse over custody and etc. So it is better to be safe then sorry.
  12. America does not want a Naval base here in Thailand. They want to put a Air Force Base here.
  13. I also agree to disagree. I was in Thailand back during the Vietnam war days. Maybe there were different versions of Thai Stick, but the Thai Stick that I smoked was dipped in opium. Why I know this, is I was there and watched my local Thai grower do it. I actually helped him perform his magic. This was in the U-Tapeo International Airport area. When I was stationed there it was an American Air Force base with B-52 bombers. Later when I was stationed at Udon-Thani their Thai Stick was different and was not dipped in opium. So there were different versions, depending on where you are in Thailand.
  14. I tried the online 90-Reporting and it seemed like it never worked for me. What I hated the most, was not knowing if it's going to be approved or what. So to give me peace of mind. They have a immigration office located in Central Festival Mall in Chiang Mai. Since I go to the mall, I decided to do my 90-day report there. Wow, it only took me 5 minutes. No wait. In and out. So now I don't bother trying to use the online method.
  15. I purchased one of mine from the Ledger website and I purchased my second one from Lazada. Had no issues at all.
  16. I understand what you are saying, But I feel if the police did their job and went out and hit the streets and pulled people over for breaking the law. Then people would start following the law. Right now why should they follow the law, as no one enforces it. By enforcing the law, it educates the people to follow the law.
  17. It's sad that so many people have to die because of riding any type of a motorcycle. I blame the police 100%. They come out with all these different rules & laws that would help bring down the accidents, but none of the laws work, because the POLICE NEVER enforce them. Yes, I know they love performing check points, but that only cures a small percent of the problems. I think they need to earn their money and start patrolling. Pull everyone over that is breaking the law. Just the other day I seen two policemen on a motorbike stopped at a red light and three motorbikes that were next to them, their riders had no helmets on at all. Another motorbike had three passages riding on it. What did the police do = NOTHING... as always. I feel they will always have this problem, until the police change the way they do things.
  18. Thank you for correcting me on that. Yes, you are right if you decide to go with mailing your passport in. When I wrote my statement, I was referring to actually going to the American Embassy in person to renew your passport, which is what I did. I forgot to explain myself. I didn't want to mail my passport in, as then I couldn't do my bank business. Plus I thought while you are in Thailand you are suppose to have your passport available at all times. Plus another reason is I don't trust the mailing system 100%. I felt a lot safer by dealing with the Embassy directly, since my passport is such an important document. I actually renewed my passport last February and the entire process took 3 1/2 weeks to receive my new passport. The Embassy emailed me and went and picked it up.
  19. When you apply to have your passport renewed, they let you keep your old passport. Once the new passport is ready for you,(however long it takes) at that time they take your old passport and punch holes in it to make it invalid. By being able to keep your old passport, you can still do your 90 day report, bank stuff and etc. But as others have said, you plan ahead of time and not wait until the last minute to renew your passport.
  20. I ran into the same issue with my American bank. As they found out I lived in Thailand, so my account was closed. To solve my problem, I went back to the US and went to my sister's house. She added my name to her Utility bill and I registered with the local voting office and with the VA. All with my sister's address. After a week everyone updated their systems, so I was then able to print up proof of my new USA address. Went to a new bank, showed proof of address and I was able to open an account. then had my social security and pension money sent directly to my new bank account. I returned to Thailand. Now every month I just transfer my money to my Thai bank. Been doing it for over 8 years with no issues at all. As everyone thinks I live in the USA. I went one more step and purchase a "Magic Jack" unit which gave me a phone number for the city that my sister lives in. So through the internet, if anyone in the USA calls me on that phone number it rings here in Thailand. Either on my lap top or on my Thai cell phone. Caller id shows that I am in the USA. So I can talk to any bank rep and they think I am local. Of course this is the route I took to solve my problem. But as stated by other people, there are different ways to fix your problem too.
  21. I know all of their overall cost are very reasonable. For me, they only charged me an additional 300 baht to cover gas & the persons's time for coming to my house. Which I had no problem paying. I think it would be by a "case to case" bases, because of what paperwork a person might need for their circumstances.
  22. In my past, I had some medical issues where I couldn't go to immigration and Assist Thai Visa was able to handle all of my immigration needs for me. Therefore, I never had to go to immigration office at all. They came to my house for completing all the paperwork, picked up my passport and returned the following day with my passport with all of the proper stamps in it. I myself wouldn't use anyone else.
  23. My recommendation, would be: "Assist Thai Visa" (https://assistthaivisa.com). They can handle all immigration requirements for you, plus legal and so on. I have used them for over 12 years now and have been very happy with them.
