  1. Move to a better place. As you will not be able to stop the person from smoking weed, it is that simple.
  2. The only thing that matters is the note stapled in your passport and it is written in english stating to report by 29 Jan. 2023. It doesn't matter about all of the other dates, as you are only concerned on when to report for your 90-day report. Really, it is not confusing at all.
  3. You said that a person might forget to get the re-entry permit at the airport, because it wasn't a "normal" thing to do. I can understand that. But I don't understand, when you obtained your Retirement Extension, you said you were going to travel, so why didn't you do the "normal" thing and obtain your permit at that time?
  4. I opened my Bangkok Bank account years ago and it was so easy. But now-a-days it might not be. However, I wanted a second bank account so I could save money for any future medical issues. So I went to the green bank, Kasikornbank at Central Festival Mall last week. I only had my passport, nothing else and they opened me an account with a ATM within minutes. All I told the lady was that I wanted to open an account and no other questions were asked. 15 minutes later I was done. It was super simple.
  5. Not to sound dumb. But I have transferred money from my Bangkok Bank account to my USA Chase Bank account with no issues at all. As they both use swift method. As for the fee & exchange rate, I don't remember if it was good or not. So far, I have done transfers three times in the last 10 months and the money ended up in my account within 24 hours.
  6. It is real easy to accomplish what you want, by signing into the SSA Online Website. You can deal with, about everything SSA related. I had to update my direct deposit address last year and it was so simple to update on their website.
  7. Please forgive me, I made a big mistake. You asked about Hua Hin and for some strange reason, I was talking about Chiang Mai. I am 72 years old and I had a "brain fart". I am sorry I wasn't able to help you.
  8. The main thing is the location of where you are. Where I live I have found that AIS works the best for me. Never any down time, whereas when I had True or 3BB and always had downtime.
  9. Try the Dukes Restaurant located in the mall. It offers an awesome Christmas Day meal with all of the trimmings. My family goes there every year, as it is not expensive, around 650 baht per person.
  10. I hate to tell you, but you are 100% wrong. I know a lot of people in Chiang Mai that has been on a Ed Visa studying Thai for more then one year. Once my son finished his 4th year of learning how to speak, read & write Thai, he was informed that was it. As there were no more classes to be taken. I also have two expat friends that just finished their 2nd year of learning Thai, but they have stopped now and have entered into a Retirement Visa. Now my son still has an Ed Visa, but he's working on a Bachelor of Science degree.
  11. Attending the University, all of their courses are one year long, therefore their Education Visa is for a year at a time. I used the term extension, because that is term the University used when it was time for obtaining his second year. But I think you are right they really are not an extension, but a new Education Visa. For his second year, they gave him only a few papers, less then what he had for the first year. Took it all to immigration and everything was done in minutes. Smooth & fast. He didn't have to leave the country and re-enter. And the best part, no fee is paid for the University to put your paperwork together. However, you do have to pay tuition for the school year. Of course you have to pay the immigration fee, which I Bellevue is 1,900 baht.
  12. Everyone comes to Thailand for different reasons. Look at what your hobbies are, as you can do them here too. As for myself, I am retired and my son attends the local University. We both are into motorcycles, as we use to dirt bike riding a lot in America. We have four bikes, MT09, KTM, and two Honda dirt bikes. There is a big riding community here, so there are always runs and so on going on. When I am out riding, then I spend a certain amount of time handling my investments, as I Day Trade in the Stock Market (USA) and in Crypto. Go out to dinner with friends, home BarBQ's and so on. I am actually more active here then what I was in America and I am 100% happy. So to answer your question, just figure out all of the things you enjoy to do and then do it.
  13. When my son came over to stay with me in Thailand, we looked at obtaining an Education Visa for learning to speak Thai. We found that overall it was a less hassle to learn Thai through the local University then going to a local Language School. It seemed like you always have some type of issue with immigration when attending a private language school, with school checks and paperwork. So my son went with attending the local University to learn Thai. They did all of the paperwork and immigration accepted it with no issues at all. He did this for 4 years. Each extension was for a full year, which was nice. Now he can speak, read and write Thai, just like a Thai person with no foreign accent. The Thais say he sounds just like a Thai. So if you really want to learn Thai, I would recommend go through your local University.
  14. Sounds very simple to me. I think you are making a small matter into something big. The Bank is a private company and can have whatever rules they want. Their rule is you have to wear a mask inside their Bank. None of your freedoms were taken away, as you have the options of staying there and putting on your mask or leave and not put on your mask. You need to get use to this "new norm", as you are going to find some places will require you to wear a mask and some will not. Things will never go back to the way they where pre-covid-19.
  15. I prefer Dukes myself, they put together an awesome Thanksgiving Dinner. But, there are other places, you just have to google it, as there are too many to list.
  16. I know everyone has their own method on investing. But what I have been doing, is I have a certain amount of my monthly investment money goes to buying BTC and other crypto coins and keeping it for the long term. Then I have a $10,000 fund I use for Day Trading only. Just in a coupe of days I made a $2,225.32 profit from buying low and selling high off of BTC. I do this with BTC, ETH, ADA and SHIB and last month alone I brought in a little over $17,000. Basically, I make money by Day Trading and then use that profit to buy my long term buys. My long term goal is to build up all of my crypto coin holding for the "Big Crypto Run" that will happen in 2024 when BTC does it's halving. Plus I am 72 years old and I have nothing better to do. Better then going to bingo...
  17. Check out this website: https://www.thnic.co.th/en/home/#News2 It might be helpful.
  18. 100% right, you can no longer use or have a Thai address. As for myself, I have a PayPal account (USA) and I use my USA address. This way I can use it and not lose it...
  19. Yes it is not that hard to do it yourself. However, if she feels she wants to use a different agent, she can do that too. Her present agent charging her 45,000 baht is way overcharging her. If she lives in Chiang Mai, a very popular and respected agent here costs 5,500 baht. It really isn't that hard to do it yourself. Then you are only paying the 1900 fee and of course the 200 to 300 baht that the bank charges for their paperwork. A lot better then paying 45,000 baht.
  20. I like and use the exchange: Coinbase. Their central wallet is easy for me to use. But I only keep what I plan on selling in their wallet. Once I have made a purchase, I transfer everything from my Coinbase wallet to my hard wallet, which I use Ledger. I keep everything there until I want to sell it, then transfer it back to Coinbase's wallet. This is just how I do it, you will find others that do it different. If you are going to play around in the crypto world, my main suggestion is do your research. Good luck
  21. I had no problem bring up Coinbase's website. I also just tried signing into my account and had no issues at all. I am here in Chiang Mai using the Thai internet. I also switched over to my VPN and was also able to see their website and sign in.
  22. I am on a Retirement Visa. I went into Kasikorn Bank to see what their requirements to open a bank account was. They asked if I wanted to open one now and I said yes. All they wanted was my passport and a 100 baht deposit to open the account and the ATM card fee of 200 baht. 10 minutes later I walked out with my new bank account and ATM card. I was very surprised how easy it was, I must of hit it at the right time. From what I hear it is not this easy.
