  1. My son attends the International course at Chiang Mai University and his second semester starts 8 November. So far, they told him classes are done online and all lab work done at the University. Because of having is how they handled his first semester, too. Because of having 50% online and 50% at the University, they deducted 4500 baht from his tuition.
  2. I read over a lot of the posts and there are some good points being made. But I believe the bottom line is, do I want to keep my job or move on? If you get the jab, you keep your job, if you don't, then it's time to move on. Your choice, no one else's. You can blame the school, government and so on, but this is the new "normal" and you just have to live with it or move on. This virus has turned the world upside down. I am sorry you have been in this position, but the choice is yours. If you have a family here, you need to also think of how it will affect them. Good luck on your choice.
  3. I had a Thai/English keyboard and had nothing but problems with it. Because every time I looked down to punch a key, for some reason I always looked at the Thai letter first and it messed me up. I live in Chiang Mai, so I stopped at Big C and they had two different brands that were English only letters, no Thai symbols at all. So before you order over the internet, check out one of the local places.
  4. I think you are right. I misread his statement. Since he said he was offered a second jab of both vaccines, it sounds like he didn't tell them that he already received a shot. Because from what I see, they don't offer your a second one when you have already received it. But I agree, since he has both shots, he's good until next year sometime.
  5. My vote is since your first jab was with the Pfizer vaccine, that you should stay with your second jab with the Pfizer vaccine. As you already have an appointment in October for your second Pfizer jab. I would not even think about getting a third jab (booster) until next year sometime. And if you have a choice, I would get the Moderna vaccine. This is the route that I am on. But of course the choice is yours 100%.
  6. Had my first & second shot of Pfizer and had no reaction at all. Except for a little soreness where they gave me the shot. but other than that, nothing. So I am very happy. thank you USA for donating the Pfizer vaccine, as I did not want to take any of the others that Thailand was offering.
  7. There are so many ways to accomplish what you want. As you read through all of the posts you will see that. As for myself, I like to keep it simple. I purchased a VPN service through Express VPN for $13 per month. Since I have a smart tv, I can access my VPN and go directly to Hulu in the USA. I pay Hulu's membership of 99 cents per month. Now I can watch movies & TV series whenever I want. I also have Netflix for 349 baht per month. So with Netflix & Hulu I have more than enough options on what to watch.
  8. As most of you all know, your bankbook must show the code, "FTT" so immigration knows the money was transferred from outside of Thailand. So no matter what source you use to bring your money in, make sure it shows the FTT. Some sources, send the money to a bank in Bangkok, then they transfer the money to your local bank. When it is done that way, you will not have the FTT code. I had this problem when Thailand changed years ago and wanted to see the FTT code. So I had to get with the outside source and had to change the way they sent it. Now I never have an issue. I asked immigration why is it such a big deal for them to see the FTT code. They said they have no idea if the money is "really" coming into Thailand from an outside source unless it was coded with FTT. As some foreigners in the past, beat the system. by transferring money from one of their banks in Thailand to their other Thai bank. They just kept moving the same 65,000 baht around in a loop, making it looked like they were receiving it every month as new money.
  9. After reading your post, I went and checked my most recent electric bill. I am paying here in Chiang Mai 3.571. So I checked a few past bills and they are around the same charge.
  10. I have been with Bangkok Bank for over 7 years and at my bank it has always been a week if I wanted the full 12 month statement. If I wanted only the last 6 months, they can do that right on the spot, with no wait. One thing I learned in Thailand, that you never wait until the last minute to gather anything that you need to use for your Retirement Extension. Because sometime things just happen. Plus I do my extension about two weeks before it is due, just in case I run into an issue with immigration. Now I am lazy and I don't do any of it. I go to an agent and they do my bank paperwork & immigration. When they have everything done, they call me to meet them at immigration for a picture and 3 minutes later I have my passport back and everything is done for another year. It makes life so much easier.
  11. I have been buying & selling crypto currencies for over five years now and have never been audited for any reason at all. At the end of the year, since I do so much investing in the stock market & cryptocurrency that I have a Tax Preparer do my taxes. No red flags at all with the IRS.
  12. Received my first vaccine shot of Pfizer on 25 August (5 days ago) and the only side effect I had was soreness in the area where the shot was given. Other than that, I feel great. I hope the second shot will produce the same side effects: none...
  13. To me happiness is money and with the proper mindset. Because it allows me the freedom where I am able to live the life on my terms.
  14. It depends on the school and the subject/degree a person is going for. Also it depends on if you are Thai or a foreigner. My son attends Chiang Mai University working on a 4-year degree and since he's a foreigner, it cost him 65,000 baht for tuition for one semester. Whereas, the Thais pay 35,000 baht. No book fees, because everything is online if your are a foreigner going through the international classes. Thais get to attend on campus. To find out any of this information, all you have to do is google the school you want to attend.
  15. I registered through expatvac.consular.go.th and received an email saying it wasn't good until I upload my passport - again. They were going to send me a link to do so. Never received a link. However last Monday I did receive an email from them giving me an appointment to get my first jab of Pfizer this Wednesday here in Chiang Mai. I am 70 years old. So I figured their system must of had my passport and the email they sent was an error. Because I have an appointment anyway.
  16. I live here in Chiang Mai and I received an appointment for my first jab of Pfizer vaccine for tomorrow (wednesday). I didn't think I would get an appointment. Because after I registered I received an email saying I needed to upload my passport and a link would be sent to me. After a week of not receiving a link, I got ahold of them again and again they promised a link would be sent to me. Next thing, i received an email from them telling me the date & time of my appointment for my first jab of Pfizer. So I am super happy.
