Has the "Ukrainien-Fewer" reached Thailand?
Dcheech replied to swissie's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Euro forgetfullness is creeping in. How about another date; the Hungarians of 1942-45. Whatever train comes in the station, they will happily jump aboard. -
Purpose of dogs in traditional Thai households?
Dcheech replied to RamenRaven's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
The same reasons dogs were kept in Europe, North America and many other lands say a hundred years back. Not talking about urban pooches and Hi So people & pets of those times. You can still find that in many countries today, in what you would term 'western countries'. You say you are struggling with it, I suspect you haven't considered the above, or have little knowedge of it. -
Top Thai virologist says 2023 is game over for COVID-19
Dcheech replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Article from last summer, on the future of covid from a number of research scientists. For the US, estimate were 100K to 100-250 K deaths per year from "endemic covid". Far more than endemic flu. A couple also felt it could just as easily go the other direction, get worse, if a new more deadly variant emerged. It was a sobering read. OTOH this toll would be mainly oldsters, so no need to worry, unless of course, you are an oldster -
British police head to Thailand over woman's 2004 Yorkshire Dales death
Dcheech replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Please rememeber, they had a year before covid hit to make a visit. They have had a year plus of no ASQ post lockdown to make a visit. Do not get me wrong, I undertsand the Yorkshire Constabulary had a lot of hard work to do. Lot of late night car door slamming in Kirkby Overblow & Sutton-upon-Derwent to police. Yet a sense of urgency seems lacking. -

I did not find it bad this morning. However lots of places in Thailand to escape from CM. Oh no! Scratch one off that list.

The Thai Examiner fights the good fight, going to bat for 'isla de la muerte' and its sinister, but totally undeserved reputation. This could damage Thailand’s reputation as a vacation paradise; Shock, Gasp, Horror! On the bright side, good chance the Chinese do not know about it, so no worries. Of course they do know about boat trips & boat sinkings in the islands. Good luck explaining that 'myth' away.

Foreign Tourist Collapses and Dies In Walking Street Area
Dcheech replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Turns out lots of people smeared Ivermectin behind the ears. As they say, 'No link has yet been found'. Still we know what is going on. -
Could be, Corona is a pretty good beer but too much is never a good thing. As for covid vaccinations there is a hospital less than 5 minutes away which will give me a booster, my last a bivalent was 5 months back. I have never heard of them refusing anyone. Still when creating OP's, hospitals will do anything you type. Cheers

Where to find a girl friend in Thailand?
Dcheech replied to Hummin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
'Trip over girl' was back in the car park this morning. If you have the cash to take care of her, nothing extravagant, are not a dinosaur, or beaten with an ugly stick, should not be a problem. -
Fah - Who knows what the conversation was about and what the ambassador actually said. All we have is a statement issued by Bhumjai Thai political party from their website. Unless it is a major policy issue, the US ambassador is not going to comment on a local news report. Something Anutins cronies know quite well.

Land border vaccine requirement
Dcheech replied to Sambo5000's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It was reported by a backpacker couple, on a facebook page. they were asked for proof of vaccine at Nongkai bridge crossing last Saturday, days before any of this was supposed to be in effect. Meanwhile Anutin has just said nevermind, hard U Turn, no proof of covid vaccinations needed. Still that might change by the end of the day, ha, LOL at LOS. -
OPINION: When will Republican voters wake up to their own oppression?
Dcheech replied to Scott's topic in World News
That is the best attempt to divert attention and sidetrack that you have?! Wow basically bankrupt. Why not Hunters Laptop from Hell? At least it was fun. -
It has hot season (non rain season) pollution, not "most of the year". That pollution buildup occurs across mainland south east asia from Vietnam to Myanmar, & the subcontinent for that matter. Always has.

Female Thai Student Attacked On San Francisco Bus
Dcheech replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If you scroll down, you will find this article. The RTP have been cracking down on illegal criminal business operated by Chinese nationals. An extremely touchy subject for Thailand. So much so, new directives have been issued. "The Royal Thai Police orders officers to stop revealing nationality information of foreigners arrested to the media " No better time to post up a distraction, even better if it is from the USA. It helps deflect attention. -

CNN Reporters get visa revoked, face possible prosecution
Dcheech replied to KhunBENQ's topic in General Topics
'Perhaps' someone did not like CNN reporting it, instead of parroting the official government approved press releases. Que up a manufactured, after the fact, law breaking outrage. That said I did like the squawking they had tourist visas, not work visas. A little comedy, in such a dark tragic time.
