Thai Airways sues over passenger’s flight diversion criticism
Dcheech replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Sounds like a "Thai Netizen" quote, and what would you really expect from them? They a re trying to get more people to fly with them? Last flight was a Rome RT in 2014. After that trip NO MORE. After this lawsuit that is a DEFINITE NO for another couple years before I even look at you again. So much for getting this passenger back. By the way, Thai airways, what discipline did you met out for that pilot who punched a stewardess because she would not go get him a meal, was trying to do her job?! Nothing?!! Did she have to wai him for getting a fist in the face too? How about the company guys (pilots?) who would not give up their seats for passengers when you did not book properly? Did they not delay the flight? See, we potential customers remember that pucky, and how you let it fly, just like we will remember this. That means no Bangkok Airways too! You got your work cut out. Good luck- 341 replies

Foreigner Begging for Money in Bangkok Sparks Investigation
Dcheech replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
These backpackers have no initiative these days. If only they would take a look how down on their luck expats get by. Go out there & get a job in a call scam center, exporting or importing narcotics, or a finder for loan sharks. Many technically illegal but respected occupations here in LOS. Need to get out of the henna tatto parlors & show a bit a gumption. -

A couple weeks back, the Russians seemed to have pulled ahead to stay. You have to admire that pugnacious, never say die, intrepid bulldog spirit, as the Brits have fought back; 'the lads are giving it their all' This aint over, till its over.- 108 replies

Northern Thailand Sees Major Decrease in Forest Fires
Dcheech replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
On the Nan Phayao north loop trip (HWY 1148) a couple days back. Big swaths of recently burned new growth scrub forest. Poor region so what you going to do? Stop the Ban Nok people from getting some mushroom money when the rains come. -

Fobs (keys) For both Honda & Yamaha were a important item on checklist. Love the convenience but as much hassle as. Yamaha Filano, back up fob on initial bike purchase, 900 B. If you buy later 1500 B. If you lose both Fob & do not have backup, plus lose ID number. You are now in deep do do. Not just more money but painful hoops to jump through. That for the Yamaha.

Good to know. That said the TV news networks are going Full Metal Oratai this morning. It was bad enough for the last three days or so, but now with the confession they can keep going over (and over) the shocking details, the savage nature of the killings ... by ... wait for it ... Evil little Chocolate, Alp dwelling, banking, gnomes of evil .. naw my bs there ... Farangs in general as the differences between farang are a moot point to the local audience. Looks like they found a gift horse. WE are over 30 minutes Straight Oratai coverage right now with no end in site. Before the apologists arrive, we watch the morning news and Thai killers no matter the savagery, rarely get this kind of coverage. Ah well only a problem if you plan to live here long term ... like me. *$^# !!

Swiss man’s wife missing in Thailand after inheriting 13 million baht
Dcheech replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It has been the lead news for two or three days. On a North Thailand loop trip. Every morning (& evening) on hotel TV's we get the latest breathless updates. Garf! Rather surprised the AN CSI unit is so far behind on this. I expected they would have solved it by now. Sad showing so far. -

Thai PM announces stimulus measures amidst economic crisis
Dcheech replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thailand has been saying that for over two decades. Unfortunately it was all too easy to attach their cart to the powerful Celestial tourism engine. Only to have it bring wuhan flu & a worldwide lockdown, followed by severe internal economic shocks which will keep Chinese tourist numbers low again for a second year, post wuhan. With luck some of the western companies which are leaving China, might re locate in Thailand. The key word; 'might'. -

Quotes lost to time. I love running onto these. "Witnesses claimed that Calvin Coolidge seemed to have aged ten years between 1929 and 1932. His face and neck grew gaunt; The former President had a haggard, haunted look about him in the last twelve months of his life. No longer was silent Cal a popular folk hero. He died shortly after noon on January 5th, 1933, alone at his home in Northampton."

Things I learned on Friday. Honda has a great, or inflated, reputation, in Thailand --- However the two best bikes I ever owned were Suzuki. Long ago and not in Thailand. The Giorno has a better lock & even an alarm(!) although low volume & squeely. Better replacement of electronic fob if lost with the Giorno. Red, may (or may not), make a motorcycle more popular with thieves. I need not one but TWO, Certificates of Residency, (grrrr) if they take my Wave as trade in. Technically I am both selling a bike and buying a bike. A Certificate of Residency needed for both. Still one shop[ was offering twice what I would have accepted for the Wave, so not a problem. Yet back in Nakorn Nowhere, I do not recall needing a Cert of R for either of the bikes I purchased in the wastelands. New requirement or depends on the jongwat you are living in? Always mysteries in Thailand - The weekend will come -

Since 2022/3, they no longer stock Appletons or Plantation Rhum in my local. Mt Gay is still sold by a couple outlets but it is has increased in price by 30 % (390 B). Havana Club has only went up a 160 baht or so. A bleeding bargain these days Popular conspiracy theories as to why, among our mook brigade are, wait for it ........ Biden, or being 'woke'.
