  1. Depends on the weather. Although currently the monsoon season, there have been several dry days with sunshine. On Friday 6th June, I took a drive in the glorious sunshine with my usual tuk-tuk driver to enjoy viewing the temples in the Angkor Wat Archaeological Park (I have a free pass). It was very busy with many tourists and other visitors. By coincidence my usual tuk-tuk is a GRAB one.
  2. IMO fake news! Would you send a plane on a training mission over a war zone? I certainly would not.
  3. Thailand now the "Titanic" in SE Asian holiday destinations!
  4. Not really a war, more of a border skirmish in which a Cambodian soldier was shot dead by a Thai soldier.
  5. Appalling! Thai HST now scheduled for opening throughout in the 22nd Century!
  6. Yes indeed. Perhaps a swap? ... online activity of Em Piseth, 37, an opposition activist and president of the Global Cambodian Youth Network in Thailand. He is accused of creating and sharing misleading and defamatory content aimed at discrediting the Royal Government of Cambodia and undermining the morale of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF), as well as causing public confusion..............If the Thai authorities are not complicit in these activities, they should take action to arrest this individual and extradite him to Cambodia for legal proceedings...... https://www.khmertimeskh.com/501698474/cambodian-leaders-condemn-politicians-for-disseminating-fake-news-on-social-media/
  7. Yes indeed. He was probably having a "J ARTHUR RANK" (UK Cockney slang)
  8. Why not? It is Phuk - et!!
  9. As a similar aged UK Citizen, nothing better than good old strong and shiny😄
  10. Yes, he was shot dead by the Thai Military!
  11. Chinese steel? What a monstrosity of a building, no doubt blocking out the sun from many neighboring properties! A true blot on the landscape.
  12. Great news - the best I have read today. Anything that brings down this genocidal military maniac is beneficial for Democracy in Burma!
  13. This also happened to me living here in Siem Reap. When I moved from Thailand, I opened an account with ABA which offered Online Banking on laptop and home computers. Within 6 months this facility was withdrawn and one had to use their APP on a smartphone. I have never owned a smartphone and tried to complain but to no avail. So I went further along the street and opened a new account with JTB (formerly ANZ). I went back to ABA, closed my account, withdrew all the cash and deposited it in the new account with JTB. Easy. 4 years later JTB still actively promotes online banking for computers in its advertisements. The only grief and hassle for me was having to notify my 3 pension companies of my new bank account after 6 months of initially informing them of the first one.
  14. Possibly a farang Immigration Volunteer acting as an interpreter? When I was a Tourist Police Volunteer in Chiang Rai, the Immigration Department also had a British Volunteer which we met in Interdepartmental meetings.
  15. Get stuffed China, go and stick your belts and roads up your..........!! Keep at it armed ethnic groups and destroy the genocidal Junta.
  16. No problems at the moment. My landlord recently returned home to Siem Reap from hospital in Ubon Ratchathani and all was as usual crossing the border to/from Thailand. Same goes for the Choam (Anlong Veng) to Chong Sa-Nagm (Sisaket) crossing. Business as usual between the Khmers and Thais, also foreigners visiting the casinos.
  17. Just like days of old? Reference Google- The Khmer Empire, at its greatest extent in the 12th-13th centuries, encompassed most of mainland Southeast Asia, including parts of present-day Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, and Myanmar. The empire's capital, Angkor, was located in what is now Cambodia.
  18. Thanks, exactly what I thought. If the smoke extraction system fails, then these rooms are potential gas chambers! Being a non-smoker I shall give them a wide berth.
  19. Possibly checking for road tax discs. When I was a Tourist Police Volunteer, on one occasion I joined my colleagues at a checkpoint set up by the Highway Police. Their aim was checking for tax discs, our aim was to assist with advice and deal with enquiries as the checkpoint was on busy Highway 2 towards Nong Khai where tourists and ex-pat Border bouncers were heading for Laos.
  20. For reference (June 3rd 2025) Thai forces have continued to violate Cambodian territory, with the latest incident involving the unauthorised flight of a drone over frontline areas to conduct surveillance on Cambodian military positions. The drone was successfully intercepted by Cambodian troops. Preliminary assessments indicate that the drone was deployed by the Thai military to gather intelligence on the deployment and movement of Cambodian forces. https://www.khmertimeskh.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Thai-drone-illegally-enters-Cambodian-airspace-intercepted-by-Cambodian-troops.jpg https://www.khmertimeskh.com/501694261/thai-drone-illegally-enters-cambodian-airspace-intercepted-by-cambodian-troops/
