Thailand Digital Arrival Card.
Burma Bill replied to Finlaco's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yesterday I completed a TDAC application form on my computer. I have a hospital appointment in Thailand and will be flying with Air Asia. I entered my Cambodian Visa Number along with the city where I live in Cambodia. As a British subject living in Cambodia full time, there were no problems with Thai Immigration. I received my TDAC form with QR Code as a pdf file which I printed on my Epson printer. All set now to travel from Cambodia to Thailand and back again (under the banner of Medical & Wellness) -
For reference (Google) Land border crossing points along the Thailand-Cambodia border remain closed. You'll need a valid visa to travel to Cambodia. If you stay longer than your visa allows, officials may stop you from leaving Cambodia.4 days ago Flights from Siem Reap and Phnom Penh to Bangkok are still operating, but please note above. An E-Visa for Cambodia can be completed on-line.

What Thai cities float your boat?
Burma Bill replied to Harrisfan's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
when I lived in Siam, these cities were my favourites - Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Lampang and Khon Kaen. -
For reference: This was the situation when I visited the Preah Vihear Temple UNESCO site pre-Covid. The mountain on which the temple stands is in Cambodia, along with the mountainous land to the right which extends well into Cambodia. The low lying land below and beyond the mountain is in Thailand, in fact the Thai border circumnavigates most of the base of the mountain. there is only one crossing point (no road access) which is situated at the lower end of the long flight of stone steps up to the temple (lower edge of photo). This border crossing is just a locked gate (when I visited) and had been closed a long time since the previous conflict. Road access to the temple is from Cambodia and an extension from the base Visitor Centre can be seen on the right. This road is hair raising and one has to park at the base Visitor Centre and transfer to special 4WD vehicles for the onward climb up to the temple. There had been no conflicts at the site when I visited, however there were Cambodian soldiers posted in sand bag protected observation points ready for any aggression from the Thai military. At the time of my visit, I was a Thai Tourist Police Volunteer based in Khon Kaen and a very kind Cambodian Tourist Police Officer took me on his motorbike to view the temple complex as I was having difficulty walking on the extensive terrain. For me. a UK citizen, it was a truly memorable day visiting this spectacular Cambodian UNESCO Heritage site.

Apparently not. From today's khmer Times_ Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, stated today that many local Thai media outlets and official Thai Facebook pages have blocked Cambodians from viewing the slanderous news about Cambodia because they are the perpetrators but are afraid that people will know the truth. Not only Cambodians, but farangs as well!

No offence at all - at least we come from countries that are democratic with freedom of speech. I am very well thanks but my old legs are not so stable these day. This coming February 2026 I will have lived in Siem Reap for 6 years, after 20 years in Thailand. What I find frustrating these days is the amount of fake news regarding this conflict, trying to sort out the wheat from the chaff! Cambodia has today been blocked from accessing the Bangkok Post and The Nation websites by Thai authorities, however there is still access to many others. Nice to hear from you again. Stay safe and enjoy life - I do!

Yes, a ceasefire from midnight (GMT) tonight 28 July 2025:- Good news indeed to stop further Siamese Military aggression and land grabbing. Malaysian leader Anwar Ibrahim says Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to an “immediate and unconditional” ceasefire in an urgent effort to resolve deadly border clashes. Thailand’s acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai and Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Manet met on Monday for the ceasefire talks at Anwar’s official residence in Malaysia’s administrative capital of Putrajaya. Anwar said that US President Donald Trump as well as the Chinese leadership were in close contact with the leaders of both countries as well as Malaysia “to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict”. Anwar said both Cambodia and Thailand have agreed to a ceasefire effective midnight (1200 GMT) of July 28 in both countries. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/7/28/thailand-cambodia-border-clashes-continue-before-malaysia-ceasefire-talks

I totally agree, a disastrous state of affairs for TAT, whilst across the border in Cambodia (27 July 2025) PHNOM PENH, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia has reported a 50.7-percent year-on-year increase in the number of Chinese tourists in the first half of 2025, said the Ministry of Tourism's latest report released on Saturday. https://english.news.cn/20250727/548e43fb475148129fce9c2334001b30/c.html

It would be interesting to hear from members living in Cambodia whether there are reports of Cambodian civilian deaths/injuries. I live in Cambodia and yes, there is a report in today's Khmer Times of fatalities due to the border clashes with Siam. (26th July 2025) The Ministry of National Defence has confirmed that 13 Cambodian nationals—including five Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) personnel and eight civilians—were killed in a deadly cross-border attack by Thai military forces early this morning in Pursat province. https://www.khmertimeskh.com/category/national/ The following photo accompanied the article showing a young Khmer boy being treated for an injury sustained by Siamese military aggression (authenticity unknown)

Border Thai and Cambodian Troops Clash Near Ta Muen Thom Temple
Burma Bill replied to Georgealbert's topic in Isaan News
Yes, I am biased towards Cambodia. I have lived in retirement in Siem Reap for almost 6 years. The Khmer people have been very kind, courteous and helpful towards me, never a bad word!. As regards a shill, being a UK Citizen, I had to look this up and discovered it is North American expression for an accomplice of a swindler! I can assure you I have no connections with the Cambodian Government. I have much credibility in Cambodia. Thailand, where I lived for 20 years, is of no interest to me these days. Sadly, it is not the country I knew years ago. I now support Cambodia. No further comment from me. Mods edit - Image removed as inappropriate. -
Thanks - this is my thought as well. For the many of you that have lived in Siam for a long time, you must know the country is, in effect, controlled by the Monarchy backed up by the Thai Military and any aspect that could affect this may end up with a coup , especially if changes to the Constitution are considered.
