Bangkok Battles Booming Lizard Population in Lumpini Park

Should it be renamed "Jurassic Park"? -
This would create enormous problems as many tour and interprovincial buses are double deckers. Imagine the cost for starters. When building such buses, stringent structural and loading tests must be performed and considered. In London, the familiar red double deckers had to undergo controlled "tilt" tests. I wonder how many Thai double deckers would pass this test?

In reply to a useless post, here is today's useless bit of information (for reference). When I lived in northern Lanna and Isaan, during my 20 years living in retirement, the word "falang" was used because the local Thais could not pronounce the letter "r". when I attended a Thai conversation course at Chiang Mai University, the lady teacher from Bangkok kept trying to correct me by using "Bangkok" Thai. Another example - nueng roi baht (one hundred baht), in my case "nueng loi baht".

A Focus On : Kanchanaburi - site of an Iconic Railway
Burma Bill replied to CharlieH's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
A very poignant and interesting site. Definitely worth a visit, but please bear in mind, for those with mobility problems it is a steep descent down steps into the Pass from the Visitor Centre. For the return climb, "golf buggies" are available for the disabled which use a longer road to the Visitor Centre. Ask any of the staff on duty. -
Thailand Faces Backlash Over Secret Uyghur Deportation to China
Burma Bill replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
SHAME on you Thailand!! You should now be thrown out of the UN Human Rights Council. If any of your embassies around the World face protests and possible damage, you have only got yourselves to blame. 11 years ago (2014) was when Prayut and his Junta cronies took control in a coup. So the military arrested and locked them up. -
Pai's Big Bust: 7 Tourists Nabbed for Public Cannabis Use
Burma Bill replied to snoop1130's topic in Chiang Mai
With respect, are you referring to doss house residents throughout Thailand or just in Pai? This circular route is popular with biker and car clubs within Thailand, for example (reference) https://www.bigbiketours.com/tours/mae-hong-son-loop/ -

Pai's Big Bust: 7 Tourists Nabbed for Public Cannabis Use
Burma Bill replied to snoop1130's topic in Chiang Mai
Yes indeed, but not with Israelis. Back in earlier days there were "hippies" of many nationalities. Even then there were bars with loud music and drugs galore and you could fly into Pai from Chiang Mai (CNX). I hated the place, but do not be put off because Pai is a convenient rest stop on the famous scenic circular drive from Chiang Mai back to Chiang Mai via Mae Hong Son. Route 108 takes you south from Chiang Mai passing Doi Inthanon National Park (Thailand's highest mountain) to enter Mae Hong Son. Route 1095 takes you north from MHS via Pai to enter Chiang Mai from the north. If you like mountain scenery and adventurous driving (especially on a powerful motorcycle) I recommend this 600 km circular drive which can be completed in either direction. -
British Man Arrested in Thailand After 25-Year Visa Overstay

Yes I do - just a question on my part. Fortunately no such ridiculous 90 day reports here in Cambodia where I now live. -
My Cambodian Bank signed and stamped mine for free, after legal clearance from HQ in Phnom Penh.

17 Dead in Bus Crash on Hillside Road in Prachinburi
Burma Bill replied to Georgealbert's topic in Thailand News
A well known cross country route from north Isaan (for example Khon Kaen) to Pattaya, Chonburi and Rayong avoiding the longer Route 2 and Bangkok suburbs. I used this route 304 for Aranyaphratet and Poipet (Cambodia). -

Just goes to show the inefficiency of Thai Immigration. Any 90 day reports? I bet not so he was " under the radar"! -
interesting - thanks. In my case, I do not get scam phone calls as I do not have a smartphone, just an old 3G Nokia, However, I am inundated with scam posts on Facebook, all the usual rubbish regarding Bitcoin, Bargain sales, Property/Land investment, romance/dating sites and even job adverts for "tele-sales"! (scamming). I delete the lot.

Thai Cave Yields Oldest Human Skeleton, Redefines History
Burma Bill replied to snoop1130's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am News
A very interesting and significant discovery for Thailand, however the oldest human bones that have discovered are:- Idea that modern humans evolved in East Africa 200,000 years ago challenged by extraordinary discovery of 300,000-year-old remains in Moroccan mine https://www.theguardian.com/science/2017/jun/07/oldest-homo-sapiens-bones-ever-found-shake-foundations-of-the-human-story In prehistoric times, the area that is now Thailand was not known as "Thailand" but was primarily associated with the Ban Chiang culture which is recognized for its advanced Bronze Age settlements found in the northeastern region of the country; this culture is considered one of the most significant prehistoric civilizations in Southeast Asia. Yes, very much so but only the tip of the iceberg! I wonder how many unfortunate people are being held against their will and forced to scam for mafia type gangs (especially the Chinese) Information from Google (ref to victims) - According to a recent survey, around 1 in 5 people globally (21%) have been victims of fraud within the last couple of years, which translates to a significant number of potential scam victims worldwide, with estimates suggesting over 228 million individuals across 15 surveyed countries alone.
