  1. Thanks, exactly what I do.
  2. Wishful thinking on my part, but preparation for the arrest of the Burmese Representative for genocide??
  3. It might be your opinion but it is certainly not mine. For three years now here in Cambodia, I use a regular friendly tuk-tuk driver who speaks and understands English. He is a family man with a young daughter and a pleasant wife who runs a laundry (which I use) and a general store. They are great examples of humanity and always willing to help me when I go shopping or sightseeing. Tuk-tuks are a major form of transport, especially here in Siem Reap. Forget baht buses and taxis, there are'nt any. IMHO the abnoxious lady boys and prostitutes that roam the streets and frequent the bars in Pattaya, Phuket etc.etc. are the lowest examples of humanity!
  4. and a UK State pensioner living in Thailand?
  5. Very loud and drunk Thai prostitutes trying to sing karaoke!!

  8. Today, it is impossible for your airport fees to exceed the total cost of your air ticket, unless you are taking Khmer souvenirs (eg wooden carvings) back home via checked in baggage. Current status: Entry to Siem Reap. Yes, one has to pay for tourist visa on entry (30-41$US depending on method used to get it). Exit from Siem Reap is FREE. Personally, I have never had to pay on leaving Cambodia during many flights in the past 8 years!
  9. Robinson Department Stores (Menswear) in Central Plazas?? When I lived in Thailand, I bought my cotton shirts across the border at the Burmese Duty Free shop in Tachilek. The sizes were akin to UK sizes and comfortable. (currently cannot do - Junta)
  10. Airport baggage inspector suspended after animals allowed on flight Amazing!!!
  11. Well I never - this would look good on a Christmas card in the post!! reminded me of this railway station in Wales (UK):
  12. I wonder if he would graciously attend ceremonies back home in Burma for the innocent victims of the Tatmadaw's genocidal killings?
  13. What a load of garbage!! No wonder AN is up for sale.
  14. Oh dear! Increased noise and air pollution??
  15. With respect, I owned a 4-wheel drive Fortuner for 8 years until it was due its first MOT, then I sold it. A very nice and practical SUV for the roads where I lived among the mountains of Lanna.
  16. Also a falling roof and a Mall shooting - "Safe and Trusted Thailand"?
  17. What a "cheeky" monkey!! I wonder if he was driving one (a Honda Cheeky Monkey)
  18. Just a thought. Under diplomatic pressure, the Icelandic Government could possibly revoke the Thai owner's visa and deport him back to Thailand!
  19. A lot of slaughtered pigs - at least they have been given a burial "service"!!
  20. With respect, no. I checked again and it clearly states 2013. (Google) .In November 2013, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) launched a new campaign with the slogan, 'Amazing Thailand: it begins with the people'. However, I did find another reference to 2014: January 17, 2014 It was at the World Travel Market in London that the Thai Tourist Office launched the new slogan: Amazing Thailand. It begins with the people. https://scandasia.com/tourist-agency-launches-new-slogan-thailand-amazing-thailand-begins-people/
  21. Even earlier - in the late 1990's "Land of Smiles" was being promoted everywhere (more or less). I well remember it. If you had been a long term resident, I'm sure you would have remembered. It wasn't until 2013 that the slogan "Amazing Thaiand" was introduced (ref. Google). Picture of an earlier poster:
  22. Makes a refreshing change from the usual shorts, singlets and flip-flops!
