  1. Looking at the photos, my thought as well. Thanks.
  2. Yes, thanks, I totally agree. For people living in the North of Thailand (with flights not having to connect with International flights at BKK) DMK is far more convenient. Most Inter Provincial buses from across the North, stop at Future Park Rangsit which is just a few minutes by taxi to DMK (just down the road). With Inter Provincial SRT trains now stopping at the new DMK station IMO DMK airport will be even busier. Will be great to see a third Terminal. I have used the Rangsit - DMK route on many occasions.
  3. With the island's reputation, maybe to prevent this:
  4. Out of a Thai population of 71.6 million (2021 Google)! (No further comment from me so do not bother to reply).
  5. Courtesy "The Beatles"- Roll up for the Mystery TourThe Magical Mystery TourIs waiting to take you awayWaiting to take you away… ........... to see the beer and go-go bars, sex clubs, pot shops, beach brawls, an unfinished towering concrete monstrocity, etc.etc.
  6. Like those now running in India - without balloons and bunting of course?? https://www.mechanical-farm.com/solar-train/
  7. That must have been hair raising!!
  8. I wonder what was being sung at the time. Perhaps "My Heart will go on"?? ( Celine Dion from the film "Titanic")
  9. Whatever the sarcasm, bitterness, hate and praise being posted on AN about Mister Thaksin, he is entitled to a hospital visit from his daughter, just the same for you should you end up sick!!
  10. You are welcome - I am glad I have brought some happiness into your life. Cheers!
  11. If only a few passengers and not commercially viable to do so - why keep? Freebies for local dignitaries will disappear? For reference:- Thai Vietjet also fly from BKK. Thai Air Asia, Nok Air and Thai Lion Air from DMK. So plenty of flights.
  12. Thailand has MICE cities, now a PUP one (Punch Up Pattaya)?
  13. Very much so and to rub salt into the wounds:- For reference from today's UK Yahoo News (28 August 2023):- China has faced many economic problems this year, from deflation and record youth unemployment to a property crisis. But now, an even more worrisome threat is emerging: the colossal hidden debt of China's local governments. Some estimates put the liabilities of China's local financing vehicles close to $10 trillion. For some time now, markets have been buffeted almost on a daily basis by gloomy economic news filtering out of China......... and its much-anticipated post-pandemic rebound has failed to materialize. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/chinas-10-trillion-hidden-debt-170001361.html
  14. I experienced a similar situation many years ago when I lived in North Thailand. A young member of the Thai family was accused of murdering a Malaysian relative. After arrest and interrogation, he confessed to the crime. During the trial, which I attended, it transpired that the confession was obtained at gunpoint. The trial was halted and the accused released. Later investigations identified two Laos "contract killers", one of whom was arrested, found guilty and imprisoned. The other "did a runner" back to Laos and is, to my knowledge, still free today.
  15. To visit his "off shore" bank account??
  16. No, just once in November 2022 to Chiang Mai. The pandemic restrictions (especially in Thailand) prevented earlier visits. I hope to visit Chiang Mai again this coming November 2023, flying with Air Asia Fly-Thru from Siem Reap to CNX via DMK. No red tape on return to Cambodia if you have a valid passport and visa. One has to complete another "Arrival/Departure" card part of which is stapled to your passport for your next departure. For reference: The new Siem Reap International Airport is due to open this coming October 2023 but is 50 kms from the city and could potentially add extra travel costs. Check with your hotel etc. regarding pick-up and drop-off facilities. A monorail system has been agreed with the Chinese, but for the future.
  17. Having lived up North throughout his tenure as PM, the Bangkok establishment "stitched him up" in the first instance! I hope he now "stitches up " the Bangkok establishment, but IMO it looks more like a collusion to maintain and protect laise majeste.
  18. Today: Bowl of Branflakes with raisins and milk. Yesterday: Egg with mayonaise (Co-op) sandwich and a ham with small chunk Branston pickle sandwich. A glass of skimmed milk. For reference: a vast range of UK food and drink products are widely available here in Siem Reap.
  19. and on a personal computer!
  20. Amazing! Police acting with good conduct.
  21. Good job it is not a Vietnamese restaurant: 100 Thai baht is currently 68,429 Vietnamese Dong!!
  22. Wow! Here in Siem Reap a small bottle of Chang would be under 60 baht!!
