  1. Trainees from Medical School on "work experience"??
  2. Thanks, I totally agree. Same here in Siem Reap, Cambodia with our local MAKRO. The fresh meat counter is usually busy and I use it. The Khmer beef is fresh, tender, delicious and so much cheaper than the high priced imported frozen Australian and USA beef.
  3. Well it would unlikely be red or orange!
  4. Will "eat as many as you can" prawn crackers be sold at the refrshment counters???
  5. After Lavrov's visit, I wonder if something similar to this will dominate a mountain top instead of a Buddha:
  6. Interesting, Tik Tok was set up by Chinese entrepreneurs! (Google) ByteDance Ltd. Fact: TikTok's parent company ByteDance Ltd. was founded by Chinese entrepreneurs, but today, roughly sixty percent of the company is beneficially owned by global institutional investors such as Carlyle Group, General Atlantic, and Susquehanna International Group.Apr 16, 2023
  7. Now I know why there are empty stools in the beer and go-go bars!!!
  8. Chicken feed?? Whilst over in Singapore today (28 July 2023) Google: (note grams, not kilograms) a 45-year-old Singaporean, was put to death on Friday in Changi Prison, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said in a statement issued hours after the hanging took place. She was sentenced to the mandatory death penalty in 2018 after being convicted of possessing 31 grams of heroin.6 hours ago
  9. Well I learnt something today - what altruistic means (google) altruistic adjective showing a disinterested and selfless concern for the well-being of others; unselfish. "it was an entirely altruistic act" Well done that man!
  10. so the team probably included inexperienced officers???
  11. Fortunately for me, as a Tourist Police Volunteer for 9 years, I got free entry into parks/museums etc. provided I wore my uniform, carried my ID card and accompanied a Thai TP Officer on a rostered visit. I got to visit many beautiful places, especially in Lanna.
  12. Brave action by the local residents. Scanning through the posts, so far not one from a dog lover condemning the pitbull's death!
  13. Lucky you. As a single person, my pension is paid 4-weekly at the rate of 408 GBP. 408 x 13 = 5,304 GBP. (the same today as 14 years ago).
  14. Very sad IMO, but in such a short space of time, he has gained much worldwide interest and acclaim, more so than the dinosaurs have in their entire lives!!
  15. Very commendable action and I wish you success. As you quite rightly said this only affects the UK State OAP. My State OAP is also frozen here in Cambodia (same rate as 14 years ago), however both my UK Government Civil Service Retirement and my Local Government Retirement Pensions are NOT FROZEN and I receive all the increases due. I did make enquiries some years ago and as far as I can remember, it will take an Act of Parliament to change the relevent section of the Social Security Act of 1948 to "unfreeze" these pensions. Unfortunately, easier said than done!
  16. Very much so. Reference (from the UK): Experts are trying to solve the mystery behind dozens of skeletons, some with their hands tied behind backs, that were discovered in a mass grave at a Buckinghamshire building site. Around 80 bodies were found in late 2019 on land being prepared for a new retirement development. Experts know the skeletons date from between Roman times and the 18th century. But they were not buried in an “organised” cemetery or given a Christian burial. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/bodies-found-skeletons-buried-hands-tied-b1917108.html
  17. Oh really!! TAT, are you aware of this latest development in Russia (25 July 2023) ?? I bet not! Russian lawmakers on Tuesday voted to increase the age for military conscription, a move aimed at expanding Moscow’s army ranks with a bigger pool of trained recruits who could potentially join the battle in Ukraine.............. The new measure, ............ applies to the year of military service required of all Russian men. Starting next year, those ages 18 to 30 will be required to serve; previously, it was 18 to 27. The bill also prohibits men who have been conscripted from leaving the country, an attempt to cut down on draft dodging. https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2023/jul/25/russia-plans-to-increase-age-range-for-required-1-/ There are already restrictions on the issue of passports (28 September 2022): Moscow will not give out passports to Russians mobilized by the army, a government information portal said Wednesday, as fears of travel restrictions rise and tens of thousands flee the country. https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2022/09/28/russia-will-not-give-out-passports-to-mobilized-people-government-a78920
  18. Crocodiles rock a Thailand community Well I never, is Elton John on a visit???
  19. A glimmer of hope? Just been posted on my Facebook page here in Cambodia 24 July 2023 (for reference): Pita may get another chance for PM post as ombudsmen question lawmakers’ decision against him . The three ombudsmen are unanimously questioning the constitutionality of parliamentarians blocking Move Forward Party leader Pita Limjaroenrat from being renominated as PM candidate. . The Office of Ombudsmen announced on Monday that the regulators have decided to ask the Constitutional Court to see if the Parliament decision last week was constitutional. It also wants the court to suspend the second round of PM voting set for Thursday. . https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/politics/40029644 .
