  1. To prevent actions by the pro - military, pro - establishment and anti-democratic yellow shirts against Pita??
  2. As previously stated - "yes they do". For example a Barracuda:- which I experienced whilst fishing off Mombasa (Kenya) - not me in photo!
  3. From link to OP: a 34-year-old construction worker who took care of the construction, 20 workers were building a restaurant when the roof of the building suddenly crumbled. IMO the 34 year old did not take any care!!
  4. Yes indeed. On one ocassion during my time in Thailand, I had the opportunity of visiting Sungai Kolok on the Malaysian border, travelling by train all the way from Chiang Mai. I changed onto a day/night train in Bangkok right through to SK (23 hours!). SK is a typical bustling Thai border town and I made a one day visit to Kota Bharu in Malaysia. There were no extremist problems when I visited in the late 90's. I stayed in a rural area outside the main city of SK (photo) I returned to Chiang Mai by air from Narathiwat via Bangkok DMK, the International Airport in those days.
  5. Sorry, I disagree. At the General Election the "yellow parties" were swept aside by the Thai electorate and many of their MP's lost their seats, so how can they be massive against Pita? Perhaps you mean the "yellow" military and the staging of another coup?
  6. "Time" is running out for you Mister Prawit - may I suggest you GO NOW!
  7. Perhaps he wanted to pop out and have a free pee instead of paying Ryanair's toilet charge (2009)? Only technical issues are holding back plan to charge passengers £1 to use onboard lavatory https://www.theguardian.com/business/2009/mar/05/ryanair-toilet-charge
  8. A 15 year old boy?? He must have seriously upset someone who may have arranged "contract killers" RIP young lad.
  9. Definitely would have been a "brown trousers' ride for me!!
  10. This can be completely avoided if he and his fellow Senators back Pita!! Should there be any violence (and I sincerely hope not) the blame falls squarely on the shoulders of Weerasak and his cronies in the Senate.
  11. Dozy - very appropriate, a dwarf maybe, but a "sleeping beauty" definitely not! I wonder if he has an alarm watch?
  12. Why not catch a few and serve them for lunch - yummy!! In general, they (Herons) are boned and filled with a minced meat and suet stuffing, seasoned with spices and oysters, then poached. Sometimes they are baked in ovens. (Google)

  14. Having read so many posts "for" and "against" a cashless society, may I inform you that I (and perhaps a few more of you) cannot use a smartphone with QR codes due to mobility/disability problems with fingers. In my case many years of sports injuries associated with football (soccer). To try and use the mini touch screen keypad is almost impossible for me. I still use my 3G mobile phone with it's old style keypad and my debit card when "going cashless". At home I have an ACER computer work station, with printer, for all my business and social media - all products of the 21st Century! For those who may ridicule this post, please remember, one day you will be old and may suffer from arthritis.
  15. The only major stop is Uttaradit. Den Chai is a busy town at a major road junction where road routes from Chiang Mai, Mae Sai, Chiang Rai, Phayao and Nan meet to head south. I have never stopped to visit Uttaradit, only travelling through by train, bus or car. Sorry I cannot be of further assistance.
  16. Great - one in the face for the "cashless society" brigade!!
  17. Very much so, and I used it regularly for all my Air Asia Fly-Thru flights to Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Burma. Very handy indeed - avoided the Immigration queues at DMK. The service at Khon Kaen was paid for by Air Asia for its "Fly-Thru" international passengers ONLY. Of interest to me, the desk was often manned by my local "friendly" Immigration Officer. This was pre-pandemic.
  18. May I respectfully make a suggestion. Take an inter-provincial bus from Khon Kaen to Phitsanulok (route 12 all the way via Chumphae and Lomsak, with fantastic scenery.) At Phitsanulok change onto the Northern Line for Chiang Mai via Uttaradit, Den Chai and Lampang. This is the most scenic section of the railway as it heads through the mountains to CNX. Photo: The Chompu Bridge in Lamphun Province with a train from Chiang Mai heading towards Lampang and eventually Bangkok
  19. Bring in the Vietnamese specialists - BBQ pitbull!!
  20. Yes indeed. Can be exterminated using insecticide from an aerosol spray can - just look for a picture of a cockroach on the side of the can. This method always worked for me. For reference:
  21. with respect, maybe so for urban areas and tourist resorts, but for many living in rural areas where the nearest bank is many kilometres away, keeping money in hands for 24/7 is the most convenient and safest for many folk. For example where I lived in the mountains above Phayao, the nearest bank was 45 kms away. Okay for me with my car, but for the locals with motorbikes, a winding drive on a mountain road - no way - and certainly not "available to her whenever she wants".
