  1. Yes indeed, a "rubbish' post. The poster has probably never lived in rural Thailand, especially in the North where I did for 20 years. A QR code was totally useless in the local markets and ma & pa shops where it was "cash only" (including our local ex-pat bar!!)
  2. With respect, all, I hope but I do remeber the horrific accident back in 2015 when I lived in Northern Thailand: (for bikers read cyclists). The cyclists were members of San Sai Cycling Club in Chiang Mai. SUNDAY, MAY 03, 2015 Three were killed and two others were badly injured when a speeding car driven by an allegedly drunk university student hit into the rear of a group of 20 bikers who were making morning exercise ride in Chiang Mai's Doi Saket at 6:15 am Sunday, police said. Witnesses told police that the bikers were riding in a row on the left lane and the car hit them at the speed of at least 100 kilometers per hour. https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/30259251
  3. As a retiree in Cambodia, may I clarify an important point of interest to me as I use FB to keep in contact with family and friends around the World. From today's Khmer media: "Prime Minister Hun Sen has announced that he will not shut down Facebook in the Kingdom as people need to use it." (many tourists) https://www.khmertimeskh.com/501317346/pm-announces-not-to-shut-down-facebook-in-cambodia/ What is not published in Thailand is his problem with Tik Tok as well: "Prime Minister Hun has warned Cambodians of numerous fake TikTok accounts bearing his name and likeness" https://www.khmertimeskh.com/501317109/pm-warns-of-fake-tiktok-accounts/ and I thought the Chinese were his friends!
  4. For reference: It is south of Chiang Mai off Southern ring route 108 to Mae Hong Son near the Doi Inthanon National Park. Take route 108 south to Ban Mon Hin where turn right onto minor route 3033 which will take you to Ban Pae Sub-District. About 90kms - 1 1/2 hours drive from CNX. Map - sorry, the best I can do.
  5. A good idea but I'm sure this would cost more than 7.4 billion baht!!
  6. Any students? I bet not. Make them "walk the plank"!
  7. So do I. I have flown in and out of DMK with Air Asia Fly-Thru on numerous ocassions and I have never experienced any problems, even on the same travelator the poor lady used!
  8. Thanks for the memory - Kai Tak in Hong Kong. I had a mind boggling descent in a BA747 among the tall buildings to land on the runway built in the sea. Fornebu Airport in Oslo (Norway) was another I experienced on several visits before the new airport at Gardemoen was opened. Photo of Fornebu airport built in Oslofjord: Don Mueang has nothing to compare with Kai Tak and Fornebu!!
  9. From the photo - such a small one. This would have been far more interesting:-
  10. With respect, only if you use a walkway/travelator??
  11. Thank you and I totally agree. As mentioned elsewhere there are many reports from around the World in international media. From photos the tragic accident happened on a walkway (travelator UK) but how it happened is so varied. IMO (from reading several reports) the accident happened when the wheels of the ladies pink suitcase got jammed in the guard plate forcing the moving plates apart to create a space where the ladies left leg got trapped. I attach 2 photos to show this possibility: First (New York Post) - damaged suitcase near wheel units Second: (Running with Miles) - the damaged guard plate
  12. With the greatest respect, there is no mention of the lad passing away - even in the link to OP. " first aid and transferred the injured kid to a nearby hospital" Whatever, it is ironic that the tragic accident took place right by a "Spirit House" which supposed to represent good health, wealth and happiness etc.
  13. With respect, may I suggest a change of wording from "economy" to "democratically elected MPs"
  14. With respect, the connection is diarrhoea - street food and the poor lady who went into hospital for treatment for diarrhoea and ended up having her fingers and toes amputated (see today's AN)
  15. OMG! LPG and LNG have caused devasting vehicle fires and explosions in Thailand, now liquid hydrogen!! Reference Google: Even small amounts of liquid hydrogen can be explosive when combined with air, and only a small amount of energy is required to ignite it. Both its explosiveness and the extremely low temperatures involved make handling it safely a challenge. Explosion at power plant in USA caused by liquid hydrogen when being delivered: https://www.powermag.com/lessons-learned-from-a-hydrogen-explosion/
  16. What on earth has this got to do with the poor man's fall?? Was this the receptionist's early morning wake up call??
  17. and getting diarrhoea and having fingers and toes amputated??
  18. With respect, the victim's DNA Profile can be obtained from the remains of the body - bones, organs, blood etc. which would assist in its identification, as in the tragic Tsunami of 2004. The Thai Forensic team used DNA profiling to help identify many of the victims, along with other means. For reference (Google): Similarly, while DNA identified only 2% of adults from Finland, France, Germany, and Sweden combined, DNA was responsible for 30% of Thai adult identifications. By 16 July 2008, 3,308 victims were identified: 799 (24%) by DNA, 1,337 (40%) by dental, 1,142 (35%) by fingerprint, and 30 (1%) by physical characteristics.
  19. One Thai and one USA - or even one UK and one China (both spying)?????
  20. Undercover Secret Service agents on the left and right???
