  1. With respect, only if you use a walkway/travelator??
  2. Thank you and I totally agree. As mentioned elsewhere there are many reports from around the World in international media. From photos the tragic accident happened on a walkway (travelator UK) but how it happened is so varied. IMO (from reading several reports) the accident happened when the wheels of the ladies pink suitcase got jammed in the guard plate forcing the moving plates apart to create a space where the ladies left leg got trapped. I attach 2 photos to show this possibility: First (New York Post) - damaged suitcase near wheel units Second: (Running with Miles) - the damaged guard plate
  3. With the greatest respect, there is no mention of the lad passing away - even in the link to OP. " first aid and transferred the injured kid to a nearby hospital" Whatever, it is ironic that the tragic accident took place right by a "Spirit House" which supposed to represent good health, wealth and happiness etc.
  4. With respect, may I suggest a change of wording from "economy" to "democratically elected MPs"
  5. With respect, the connection is diarrhoea - street food and the poor lady who went into hospital for treatment for diarrhoea and ended up having her fingers and toes amputated (see today's AN)
  6. OMG! LPG and LNG have caused devasting vehicle fires and explosions in Thailand, now liquid hydrogen!! Reference Google: Even small amounts of liquid hydrogen can be explosive when combined with air, and only a small amount of energy is required to ignite it. Both its explosiveness and the extremely low temperatures involved make handling it safely a challenge. Explosion at power plant in USA caused by liquid hydrogen when being delivered: https://www.powermag.com/lessons-learned-from-a-hydrogen-explosion/
  7. What on earth has this got to do with the poor man's fall?? Was this the receptionist's early morning wake up call??
  8. and getting diarrhoea and having fingers and toes amputated??
  9. With respect, the victim's DNA Profile can be obtained from the remains of the body - bones, organs, blood etc. which would assist in its identification, as in the tragic Tsunami of 2004. The Thai Forensic team used DNA profiling to help identify many of the victims, along with other means. For reference (Google): Similarly, while DNA identified only 2% of adults from Finland, France, Germany, and Sweden combined, DNA was responsible for 30% of Thai adult identifications. By 16 July 2008, 3,308 victims were identified: 799 (24%) by DNA, 1,337 (40%) by dental, 1,142 (35%) by fingerprint, and 30 (1%) by physical characteristics.
  10. One Thai and one USA - or even one UK and one China (both spying)?????
  11. Undercover Secret Service agents on the left and right???
  12. Yes indeed. The destruction of dental records and fingerprints. However these days there is DNA for identification purposes.
  13. I think I will keep to just one Cornetto!
  14. Any North Koreans living in Thailand? North Korea-backed hackers stole $1.7bn (£1.4bn) of crypto in 2022,.................................The loot also made up 44% of the $3.8bn stolen in crypto hacks last year........................................the biggest year ever for crypto hacking.........................is turning to crypto theft to fund its nuclear arsenal. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-64494094
  15. I'm sure the authorities could have coughed up another 15,000 baht to have made a total of a quarter of a million baht - sounds much more rewarding for such a tragedy.
  16. Yes indeed. As a UK Citizen with a National Insurance Number (NIN) and "qualifying years", your nearest Social Security Office to where you land should assist you. Should you arrive at LHR, and as posted elsewhere, there is a Social Security office within the airport. I wish you good luck and a stress free time back in the UK.
  17. Yes indeed - the same case. This time 4 of those allegedly involved, now face trial in a Malaysian Court. Previous defendents, including the General, were tried in a Thai Court.
  18. A disgraceful statement. These are not "pesky kids" but people of voting age who will be angry (and quite rightly so) if their democratic vote is not recognised by the "dinosaur" anti-democracy establishment.
  19. I checked this the other day and the coroner's formal review hearing is due on the 6th July 2023 (next month). Professor Catherine Mason, senior coroner for Leicester City and South Leicestershire, said: "A cause of death has been provided. The cause of death is provisional until the formal hearing. Leicestershire Police said last week his death was not believed to be suspicious. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-leicestershire-64732942
  20. There was an awards ceremony in Bangkok for many of the foreign rescuers - reference: King Vajiralongkorn has conferred various honors on 187 people in connection with the rescue, 113 of them foreigners including Tesla Inc Chief Executive Elon Musk, who were involved in the effort, according to the Royal Gazette in March. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-thailand-accident-cave-australia-idUSKCN1RV0RC Several of the foreign rescuers are imortalised in a large mural which is on permanent display in the museum at the Tham Luang site. (my photo)
  21. Yes indeed. When I visited Hsipaw in Shan State, I was amazed to see a large mosque with many muslims walking the streets along with other Burmese people. Photo - the Mosque in Hsipaw:
