  1. It is in Chiang Rai Province, not that far from Mae Sai and the Burmese border.
  2. With respect, Phaya Kouprey viewpoint (where accident occured) is high on a mountain overlooking forests and rivers. The road descends the MOUNTAIN from the Chong Sa-nagm border crossing with Cambodia (where the runners finished). If you have lived in the hills and mountains of rural Thailand you will be very familiar with this type of curving road - like I was! Photo from Thai Newsroom:
  3. Probably - from the post: The Kiwi’s cryptocurrency business tanked during Covid. Did he scam someone??
  4. Yes indeed and both very tragic. I posted what was reported in "The Nation" which stated "falling".
  5. He is Russian. ref. (The Nation) A Russian tourist is in hospital after falling from the roof of a pagoda in Phuket’s Muang district on Friday evening, officials said. https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/general/40029174?fbclid=IwAR2cESvUdWhr638SxAm_ky3Zaj6uDuxS8KI7KNgE7IypQ6huNlorAfHvaSQ
  6. I bet this caused a bit of a stink amongst the locals!!
  7. Yes indeed. Diet control would have helped reduce the lady's high cholesterol. Very important for me being a Type 2 insulin dependent diabetic.
  8. Nestle involvement - for reference : The global coffee alliance since 2018 The purchase included Starbucks®, Seattle's Best Coffee®, Starbucks Reserve®, Teavana™, Starbucks VIA® and Torrefazione Italia® and the distribution deal cost Nestlé $7.15 billion for the exclusive right to market, sell and distribute Starbucks products. (Google) So it is possible your rip off priced cup of "Hi So" coffee could be simply Nescafe?? When I lived in Thailand, I used Amazon coffee shops.
  9. Thanks - exactly what I thought.
  10. Oh really: On the night of July 31, 2022, for instance, a five-tonne, 10-metre-long concrete beam fell off the U-turn bridge and plunged onto a car, also damaging a pickup truck, killing two people and injuring five others. The bridge is outside Vibharam Hospital in Samut Sakhon's Muang district. (Google)
  11. To prevent actions by the pro - military, pro - establishment and anti-democratic yellow shirts against Pita??
  12. As previously stated - "yes they do". For example a Barracuda:- which I experienced whilst fishing off Mombasa (Kenya) - not me in photo!
  13. From link to OP: a 34-year-old construction worker who took care of the construction, 20 workers were building a restaurant when the roof of the building suddenly crumbled. IMO the 34 year old did not take any care!!
  14. Yes indeed. On one ocassion during my time in Thailand, I had the opportunity of visiting Sungai Kolok on the Malaysian border, travelling by train all the way from Chiang Mai. I changed onto a day/night train in Bangkok right through to SK (23 hours!). SK is a typical bustling Thai border town and I made a one day visit to Kota Bharu in Malaysia. There were no extremist problems when I visited in the late 90's. I stayed in a rural area outside the main city of SK (photo) I returned to Chiang Mai by air from Narathiwat via Bangkok DMK, the International Airport in those days.
  15. Sorry, I disagree. At the General Election the "yellow parties" were swept aside by the Thai electorate and many of their MP's lost their seats, so how can they be massive against Pita? Perhaps you mean the "yellow" military and the staging of another coup?
  16. "Time" is running out for you Mister Prawit - may I suggest you GO NOW!
  17. Perhaps he wanted to pop out and have a free pee instead of paying Ryanair's toilet charge (2009)? Only technical issues are holding back plan to charge passengers £1 to use onboard lavatory https://www.theguardian.com/business/2009/mar/05/ryanair-toilet-charge
  18. A 15 year old boy?? He must have seriously upset someone who may have arranged "contract killers" RIP young lad.
  19. Definitely would have been a "brown trousers' ride for me!!
