  1. More money than sense! TBH I have never heard or seen him - certainly does not appear in my You Tube selections here in Cambodia.
  2. Easy. Restore the demoratically elected civilian goverment and return the military to barracks!! (wishful thinking). Fortunately, I was able to visit Burma on several ocassions during the recent short period of democracy and what enjoyable, fascinating and friendly experiences I had visiting Rangoon, Mandalay, Bagan and Hsipaw (Shan State).
  3. From photo - an "interesting" fire truck. Looks like a water tanker with a garden hosepipe!!
  4. Thailand has a regional Interpol Office which liases with Interpol HQ in France. For reference (Facebook) : The INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) for #Thailand is part of the Foreign Affairs Division (FAD). The FAD Commander is also the Head of INTERPOL #Bangkok, which is made up of three sub-divisions responsible for specific regions: 1. #INTERPOL and Coordination Sub-Division (Region 1): Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), a geo-political and economic organization of ten countries located in Southeast Asia: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam; 2. INTERPOL and Coordination Sub-Division (Region 2): North America, South America, East Asia, and Oceania; 3. INTERPOL and Coordination Sub-Division (Region 3): Europe, Africa, Middle East, Central Asia, and South Asia.
  5. Lots of dosh - yes indeed and good luck to him. In one business deal in 2008 when he sold Manchester City Football Club (UK) to Arab buyers he made a LOT of cash: Outgoing Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra stands to make a profit of more than £50million when the sale of the club to Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan finally goes through today. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1060029/50million-That-8217-s-Thaksin-Shinawatra-selling-Manchester-City-mega-rich-Arabs.html
  6. Rubbish, Thaksin IS a Thai citizen and definitely not a Chinese criminal. For reference Wikipedia:- Thaksin's great-grandfather, Seng Saekhu, was an immigrant from Meizhou, Guangdong, China, who arrived in Siam in the 1860s and settled in Chiang Mai in 1908. His eldest son, Chiang Saekhu, was born in Chanthaburi in 1890 and married a local named Saeng Samana. Chiang's eldest son, Sak, adopted the Thai surname Shinawatra in 1938 because of the country's anti-Chinese movement, and the rest of the family also adopted it.[9] Thaksin was born in San Kamphaeng, Chiang Mai Province. He is a Theravada Buddhist. He lived in the village of San Kamphaeng until he was 15, then moved to Chiang Mai to study at Montfort College. At 16, he helped run one of his father's cinemas.[11]
  7. inteesting, nowhere in the article was a Thai organiser mentioned however many comments regarding the mental state/cultural beliefs of Thai people. IMO it suggests a Chinese organiser. Whatever, from the photo it appears the "Ghostbusters" have done their job!
  8. Yes very much so - and thanks! As a country bumpkin, I lived in Lanna during the tenures of both Thaksin and Yingluk's governments. May I suggest the garbage is coming from "southerners" who have never lived in the North or during the two Governments I have mentioned. The Shinawatras brought prosperity, investment, agricultural modernisation, infrastructure improvements and telecommunication modernisation to the North and I thank them for this. This is why they are idolised by so many millions of Thais (and some farangs) to this day. Public money was shifted for investment in the North and not Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket etc. etc.
  9. Not if there is another coup or even a Civil War!
  10. Whatever turns you on I suppose, but IMO weird!
  11. With respect, should that read "bag lady" or these days "bag person"?????
  12. Just like Prayut and his Generals in the Government after the coup!!
  13. IMO, great news indeed. Keep at it lads and lasses to eliminate the genocidal and terrorist organisation the Tatmadaw!! Very sorry for the refugees though.
  14. It would have been interesting to see photos of the albino eels rather than a pot with joss sticks!
  15. Yes indeed, especially in Lanna and Isaan. I hope he enters the country on an international flight into Chiang Mai - avoid Bangkok like the plague!! As an ex Northern "country bumkin"- my hero:
  16. When I lived in North Thailand, I always used Thai Post's Registered Airmail Service (NOT EMS) for letters to the UK. If I remember rightly, a red barcode label is stuck to the envelope, along with a blue "Airmail" label, and you can track right through from acceptance to delivery. At that time the cost was 80 baht and transit time up to 10 days.
  17. I wonder how long before the "bar stool" detectives have solved this?
