Just done it. 60 days on arrival to Non O, was first extended to 3 months. Then had to apply and pay again for the 1 year extension. Four visits later, 12 months Non O retirement visa now obtained. According to the IO we are not supposed to do this, she said it should be obtained before leaving your own country. Long ago one used to have to obtain a tax clearance certificate to leave the country. At the tax office they once assessed me as owing 30,000 Baht. Figures all conjured up in their greedy imagination. I refused to pay and left the country. On the train I encountered the IO who asked where my tax clearance certificate was. He fined me 500 Baht, thereby saving 29,500. Amazing Thailand.

CW office. Your comment is incorrect (never tell a moderator he is wrong.... Oh Lord). In my experience all offices require 800k or proof a monthly income. Been doing it for 20 years on retirement visas. Your alternative if you don't have the 800k is use an agent.
