  1. First, I would stay away from the Revenue Dept. Wait and see if and how they are going to enforce this. May never happen. If they want me they are going to have to drag me down there, kicking and screaming in protest. I cannot see how the Thai Revenue Dept has any right to tax foreign income. None of their business, I refuse to pay. Thais have long kept two sets of account books. One of which gets shown to the Tax man. Many Thais keep no records at all and simply give the tax man a brown envelope if he comes calling. Have two bank accounts. One you show the tax office, which always stays within the max allowance. And another account for additional funds. If all else fails, leave Thailand. Time we farang stood up and told em where to stuff it.
  2. Yet another brilliant well thought out Thai plan. Ain't no way the wealthy elite are going to move to Nakhon Nowhere and watch their prime real estate in Bangkok go under water. Just take all the used condoms to make a sea wall barrier.
  3. The God of the Thais is called Baht and their temple is the Bangkok Bank.
  4. Could be head gasket leak. Open the radiator reservoir cap. View the light reflected in the coolant. Is there a rainbow coloured oil slick floating on top of the water? Remove oil filler cap and oil dipstick. Any signs of a creamy emulsion? Look for smoke and steam coming out of the exhaust. Run an engine compression test. I don't know about PT 20 oil but a turbo runs at high temperatures, ordinary oil breaks down and fails to protect the engine. Turbo engines need synthetic oil which can maintain its molecular structure under heat and load. Shell synthetic is a good choice.
  5. I wonder what was in the package? Unusual; a farang trying to out con a Thai and managing to do a runner as well.
  6. Jeez, read the expression on the man's face. In Thailand a bounced cheque is a criminal offence, so he has leverage to get his money back. Unfortunately Thai lawyers are known for taking your money and never actually doing their job of checking the ownership and land registration etc. I once complained about one to the Law Society; took me 7 years to get my money. I wonder if this man made the mistake of using the developers lawyer? You have to use your own independent lawyer, but lots o luck finding a good one. Can someone explain "right of redemption" and its relevance in this case?
  7. I think your name is Jim.... it sure ain't Elvis Presley. As for Cambodia, I found the people were friendly. However, there are other places to go.
  8. Where was this? At CW they wanted all of it. Even though there is an advert there that states you can do your TM30 online, they still wanted the paper version. It further depends on the whim of the individual IO handling your application. Every time I go there it is different.
  9. How long will it be before they smuggle in explosives to blow a hole in the wall?
  10. She is lucky the farang left 4000 bats and did not simply do a runner. We are considered a rare species known as the walking ATM. There is only money now, nothing else.
  11. Brown envelope time again. Then back to business as usual. So long as we maintain our image and integrity.
  12. Honda have an approved used car website https://usedcar.honda.co.th/ Toyota also https://www.toyotasure.com/home
  13. Looks like your lawyer did not do their job right in failing to check the ownership documents. You can report them to the Law Society. They once made my lawyer and the Court re-try my case. Took 7 years, during which time my hair turned grey. I did win, but was it worth it? As for being scammed, your best bet is to offer the Police a substantial cash reward; amazing how efficient they are when there is money in it.
  14. Talk about biting the hand that feeds. As for owning a car. Monks can, it is just that they are not supposed to drive, so they have a chauffeur.
  15. So that's what cable ties are for. This does present mind boggling possibilities in the bedroom.
  16. They start doing s**t like that its bye bye Thailand. Furthermore, if they think they have any authority to tax my foreign pension I will tell em where to shove it. At the moment it looks like they haven't got a clue what they are going to do. Wait n see.
  17. Would a natural herbal antibiotic help? https://uribiotic.com/uribiotic-formula-ingredients/
  18. If your land transport office does not have a Police dept you will get away with it. The main one at Chatuchak does have Police and you will get fined.
  19. Just done it. 60 days on arrival to Non O, was first extended to 3 months. Then had to apply and pay again for the 1 year extension. Four visits later, 12 months Non O retirement visa now obtained. According to the IO we are not supposed to do this, she said it should be obtained before leaving your own country. I did suggest that all this could have been done in one visit but this fell on deaf ears. Note:- There are advertisements at CW advising you to do the TM30 online. However, when you get there they also require it on paper. Biggest waste of time and paper ever.
  20. There is no hope for us when the farang needs instruction on how to use a bum gun
  21. Has anyone found a good brand that contains all those ingredients in one capsule?
  22. Long ago one used to have to obtain a tax clearance certificate to leave the country. At the tax office they once assessed me as owing 30,000 Baht. Figures all conjured up in their greedy imagination. I refused to pay and left the country. On the train I encountered the IO who asked where my tax clearance certificate was. He fined me 500 Baht, thereby saving 29,500. Amazing Thailand.
  23. Like I said, if it goes that way it is time to leave. In my experience it is best to do nothing, wait n see what the Thais do, as often these stupid ideas never come to fruition. Furthermore, if they think they are going to tax my UK pension they are going to get told to shove it where the sun don't shine.
  24. CW office. Your comment is incorrect (never tell a moderator he is wrong.... Oh Lord). In my experience all offices require 800k or proof a monthly income. Been doing it for 20 years on retirement visas. Your alternative if you don't have the 800k is use an agent.
