Cannabis and the Upcoming Election
JackGats replied to up-country_sinclair's topic in Thailand Cannabis Forum
I don't think the legalisation was "badly thought out". If you want to legalise any drug, do it quickly at one fell swoop. Otherwise it takes a decade like it did in the US (and like it does in Germany right now). There should be an amendment in any constitution that says the legalisation of any drug must not take longer than it took to ban it in the first place. -
As I hinted earlier, the missing passport resurfaced the day after I reported it missing to the police. Both passports (old with corner clipped off + new one) went yesterday to IO for stamp transfer. So unless I'm extremely unlucky things should turn out all right, with some lessons learnt.

I wanted to hedge against the Brazilian Real appreciating too much against the Euro ahead of a Brazil trip. Someone knowledgeable recommended I hedge by buying a Real-denominated bond. This being said, if the dollar loses 80% of its value soon, much more will be at stake for all of us than your puny 25k.

Will government hospitals and offices be open on 1 May?
JackGats replied to topswijaya's topic in General Topics
Nope. Just back from immigration. Apparently the 1st of May is a holiday only for the private sector (including banks). Just as well, otherwise it would be like another Songkran. -
Kudos to Thailand and its allegedly undemocratic government for having brought this to pass! If something as pointless and as totalitarian as the war on drugs can ever be won, I wish it to be won by the drugs, not by the other side.

Thought of that too, especially since the symtoms go away with cold tablets containing tripolidine (an antihistaminic) + pseudoephedrine. But if I'm not wrong this combination can also act on the lungs. Alas, post-nasal drip seems to be something one can do little about. As to allergies, I'm anxious to see what happens when I get out of Thailand where I can be without aircon and/or ceiling fan.

No COPD. My breathing is normal. It's just pflegm building up in my throat. I've started on anti-acids in case it was reflux this time. But if feels identical to what I felt whenever I got episodes of bronchitis. I'm not sure reflux can mimic that 100%. Tends to be worse when lying down though.

Ok, so there's that possibility too. I'll shop around for such a device. Would it then still fall under the vaping ban?
-
The TH in THC was for "tetrahydro", not for "Thailand". Vaping is, as you rightly point out, illegal in Thailand.

For decades I have had outbreaks of chronic bronchitis at regular intervals. Usually the symtoms (having to clear my throat all the time) go away after a few days' use of a Symbicort turbohaler. This time the turbohaler seems hardly to work at all. The only thing I've been doing new of late is taking a puff at a Ghost Jack Herer vaping pen. I've been doing so 4 or 5 days a week, taking a single puff each time. I feel no burning nor bronchitis symptoms right after puffing. In fact the symtoms tend to come later in the day or at night. Question: could this modest vaping habit be the cause of my lung condition? I've read horror story about how harmful, even lethal, vitamin E acetate (a common additive in THC oil vaping) can be.

New passport and then extension
JackGats replied to underthesky's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Your embassy may be one that stopped issuing the so-called "embassy letter" regarding the transfer from old to new passport. I'll know by the end of next week whether this is a major snag, but Yaivisa Pass agency right next to Chonburi IO told me this would not be a problem for passports from my country. Said agency quoted me 2.5 Baht for the transfer which would take 3 working days. -
Santander have an account called "Cuenta Mundo" directed at people who are not resident in Spain. https://www.bancosantander.es/en/particulares/cuentas-tarjetas/cuentas-corrientes/cuenta-no-residentes I could find no list of countries where you can reside and apply for such an account though. I fear it will be "one of the EU countries" as always, excluding we wretched souls who most need such an account.

Both apps have different ergonomics. Neither seems to have the edge regarding translation accuracy. However, and this is big news if you are learning Thai at a fairly advanced level, voice-to-text is much better in SayHi. Where Google Translate all too often contrives to freeze after just one word, or to truncate the beginning of a sentence, SayHi does a good job. I will from now on be using SayHi to decipher Thai vids in Youtube.

I think you can prove you are infertile but not that you've had a vasectomy, except maybe produce the paperwork dating back to the procedure (doctor's or hospital's invoice). Regrowth is rare, but the courts in the West use it as a pretext to make non biological fathers pay child support. This is outrageous because it only takes a few years before your body's immune system turns against sperms. In the West mothers who get child support will not allow a single hair of the baby to be collected for DNA testing. It's a violation of the baby's human rights you see. Having a man pay all his life for raising another man's child is not a violation of human rights though. I've read that in some cases the courts have sentenced a man for not telling the woman beforehand he was infertile. Damned if you do, damned if you don't

Except if you apply for a visa at some point in the future?

Mesterolone (Proviron) and Andractim Gel increase DHT rather than testosterone. If I understand right they are more for enchancing sex-drive than for building muscle mass, and they don't require also taking an aromatase inhibitor like testosterone does. I have no idea whether they are equal to the hype. They'd be the ones I'd try out if and when I did take the plunge into TRT.

I think I remember putting the question to Siam Legal and they replied they could do it. I didn't pursue the matter though. I might have needed to had I gone ahead with the retirement visa in Peru. Note that if the recipient of the police clearance "doesn't need to know" you were technically a resident of Thailand, simply getting one from your own country may turn out more expedient.

Tucker Carlson out at Fox News, 1 week after Dominion settlement

Wait in the scorching heat, and mind you not in shorts because even being allowed to dress as lightly as you can is too much to ask. Nope, you are requied to dress "properly" so as to maximise discomfort.
