  1. I guess then the only way out to avoid jail is bribes. The whole visa thing gets supervised and helped along the way by the people who brought them to Thailand in the first place. I assume the latter know whom to pay off. But I've heard Thai Embassies in most countries can no longer issue visas on their own like they did 5 years ago. One African girl told me the other day she would apply for a student visa after her tourism visa runs out. Student visas seem to be the most abused visas in Thailand these days.
  2. Girls from Africa. They get say, a 3-month visa for Thailand. When that expires they can get a one-month extension. After that the only way to get another visa is in their home country. Instead they send their passport and someone takes care of the additional visa in their home country. That's about the sequence described to me. I don't think it's legal to send your passport across borders.
  3. I see. Having my passport sent upcountry is not something I'd feel comfortable with. Foreign girls in TH have strong enough nerves to send their passport through DHL to some foreign country for visa renewal. From the peep I got into Immigration (before I ran for cover to my agent), mislaying of passports there is not unthinkable. Huge piles of passports and papers lying about. Do they close 10 minutes early on some days to organise a communal search for the week's missing passport(s)?
  4. Since we're on the topic of agencies, how likely is it that between the agency and Immigration, for a passport to go missing? I'm talking about legit and reputable agencies with good track records, not dodgy ones. Loss of the passport at such a juncture would be a nightmare as the extension would per se be close to expiry.
  5. Sometimes, illegal but largerly overlooked is better than legal and heavily regulated. Look at what happened in Western Europe. Prostituion there has gone downhill since it got increasingly legalised.
  6. I was wondering about what kind of "additional documents" are required after you qualify. I'm talking about doing the LRT in Thailand and not through a consulate. There's mention of a criminal record somewhere. That's pretty straighforward (provided they don't ask you to go and get one from your home country). But what about proof of address or long-term rental contracts? Is it possible to get a LRT while living in hotels one or two weeks at a time? With yearly retirement visa extensions this was not a major hurdle provided you used an agent.
  7. You mean you still need to do extensions every year when you have a Thailand Elite visa?
  8. I find this on the Thailand Elite website: "Five-year multiple entry visa with extendable one-year length of stay per each entry" Can somebody explain what this means in plain English?
  9. Not many girls under 30 working at Soi 6.
  10. Muslims jump into the water without taking their clothes off. North Americans jump half dressed into the water (with trunks that reach below the knees). South Americans, Europeans, Russians etc. jump nearly naked into the water (speedo-type). As for me, the less damp cloth I bring back from the swimming pool, the better.
  11. Tried to do my extension on my own for the first time. For 3 years I had been using an agency. The guy I dealt with inside took against me at once. He shoved my re-entry form aside, without telling me what I should do with it. A visa is useless to me without a multiple re-entry stamp. He then said I needed to go out make copies of ALL the pages of my savings book. My savings book was easy though, showing a balance above 1 million for the past six months and never dropping under 600k for years. He then told me the TM30 and landlord's confirmation letter I had to show for my address were no good, saying "you want long term visa, need long term contract". By this time I'd had enough. I called a cab to take me to my usual visa agency. I'll never deal direct for anything in Thailand if I can help it.
  12. The letters I got over the past years from Bangkok Bank for 100 baht only stated the balance, when the account was opened, and my full name. The +800k over the past 3 months are ascertained on the basis of your savings book. This could be problematic if you haven't been in Thailand for months. How far back can the update machine go when it comes to printing a delailed list of transactions?
  13. That's what I find scary in marriage (beside misandric family law): finding myself in continued bondage long after the incentives for tying the knot are gone. Note that this has been made worse by the laws that put females off bounds until years after menarche.
  14. What worries me about this is if Thailand gets affected by some sanctions or gets on a list of "not so friendly" countries. For example we could get our bank accouts back home cancelled because we live in a country that is too close to Russia.
  15. I have world coverage but I'm not sure what would happen in case of accident because any refund claim I file has a box that says "was this caused by an accident"? I assume if I tick the box my health insurance would want to recoup the money from the guilty party's insurance. Good luck with that in Thailand. Even getting an acceptable police report (one where I don't come out as "grossly negligent") could be difficult. Public transportation are assumed to insure their passengers. What about if Songtaw has an accident with me on board? Even the best insured may be less protected than they think.
  16. Dealers are notoriously unreliable, they will sell you dope that has been stepped on and has no effect or makes you sick, so I'm not surprised they don't come clean about a car.
  17. Bangkok Bank debit cards are reported not to work for shopping online, while debit cards of other thai banks may work. This may become an issue when you book hotels in Thailand because booking with an oversea card often entails currency and other losses.
  18. + 7 degrees will make parts of the world inhabitable, but it will make other parts habitable again. Climate change dogma is a catastrophe. It eclipses every other type of much more serious problems (eg plastic waste).
  19. I think the definition of incel does not include men who patronise "prostitutes". Incel pages are not clear about this, but I'm pretty sure incels are by their own definition not men who make do with prostitutes. The latter would qualify as red-pillers but not as incels. Disregard of prostitution is of course a flaw in incel theory. Note that even if incels were willing to fall back on prostitutes, the countries of reference of the incel community are mostly countries where prostitution is banned and/or unaffordable. In my book, any man who goes "prAAAstitutes don't count as real sex/relationships" is a fool. A big fool who never understood life.
  20. 13 digits, same as TIN number. I wonder whether the TIN number could be used instead of the ID number whenever a Thai ID number is required.
  21. What if you need to go to hospital? They might not accept you if you have no passport to show.
  22. Many don't hide the fact they're working in bars. They will write something like "I'm at bar X, come an visit me, ask for [name]". Alas for the men, not half their age, more like on the wrong side of 50 from what I see around me.
  23. Good think the truck plunged "accidentally" and not purposefully.
  24. I've seen monkeys stealing all kinds of things, even smartphones, from people. I carefully stow my hearing aids away when in sight of monkeys. All animals (and humans!) who live from hand-outs become noxious after a while.
