I guess you missed the part where I said IN SOME WAYS....
sorry but I know plenty about this subject...
And I corrected myself when I realized the person you were quoting was serious.
Then I apologised and made yet another reference to the person you were quoting.
Perhaps re read my post.

I'm not American, and I last renewed my passport 8 years ago, but a quick read of some of the responses to this thread has lead me to believe irrelevant and outdated information is welcome here.

Brilliant statement....Proof you know nothing about it...
I wont say there is absolutely zero danger but I will say there is 100% zero chance of developing a addiction to LSD......So compared to Meth or many other drugs its one of the least dangerous drugs around......Hell in some ways cigarettes are more dangerous because tobacco is highly addictive...
Err have you been taking anti-irony meds?
Actually, I do believe the man was serious.
My apologies. There is always one who seems to have a strong option based without any real knowledge.

Sure you do.
And I know literally hundreds of people who had a great time, many times times over.

This is scaremongering, plain and simple

Nonsense. It is not called death stamp by anyone.
As for popular amongst foreign tourists, it has been around for decades, they make it sound like a new recent danger.
6 hours ago, webfact said:added that while there are as yet no reports of widespread use in Thailand, magic papers are occasionally found among foreign tourists visiting the country. “We do however feel it necessary to warn other parties and raise their level of understanding. Parents need not to be panic yet, but should keep a close eye on their children’s behavior,”
This too is ridiculous. I don't usually buy the anti foreigner hype but this is definitely pointing fingers.
Need not panic - yet.
Sigh

move the child, then don't inform them you are going to the labour department, just file a complaint once child is established and move on.
most of these schools operate on the assumption that staff have no understanding of labour laws and will push until someone complains.
salary cuts, changed holidays, fines for legal sick days, extra responsibilities or duties etc.once they get away with one thing and nobody blinks it starts to snowball.

personally my partner and i split amicably when my daughter was 3, i could not have raised her on my own without my nanny, who was a member of the family and allowed me to work without worrying about my childs well being.
i paid her, but will be forever in her debt.-

as someone who has been using food delivery services in thailand, singapore, and philipines for the last 15 or so years, i find this whole thread rather naive.
its not rocket science.
i personally have cut back radically as services like food panda seem to be getting worse, and each delivery is an environmental disaster of plastic packing and unneeded cultery and sauces etc.
also the inability to understand fried foods should not be packed in airtight containers etc has ruined many a meal. each restaurant should review its menu to determine what actually travels well, most delivered meals are a massive disappointment.
food delivery is an emergency measure for me now, only when i cant get out to shop or cook would i use one - but unfortunately when you need them most is when you place an order only to discover that it is cancelled without notification an hour later after other options have closed.
-
if you cant afford to tip the delivery guy 20-30 baht at your door, you cant afford to order in.

Perhaps it's time you explored the potential of the Interwebs.

Yeah it seems thai elite also is not allowed to give you a visa anymore with even a single overstay...
How is this even thailand anymore if you can't buy yourself free with money ????
I find this interesting. I had an overstay about 15 years ago. What is the statute 9f limitations on that?

I hate dieting and even though in my younger years was competing, always struggled to drop the weight .
now in older years I found having protein shake instead of a meal in the evening drops 1-2 kg every few days. Now can go from 115kg down to 94kg in less than a month and not suffering
115 to 94? That's essentially clinically obese unless you are 7 ft tall

I'm a bit disappointed. I've healed the sick, helped the ones who've lost their faith. I gave advice to those who had computer problems and helped our poor biker community.
In addition, I was pronounced dead a couple of times, but I could manage it to get back to life.
My name should be on top of the list and I'll willingly share the title with Khun Yinn.
A free grammar check program will be send to her right after my nomination. Thanks for all the votes!
You'd be better off keeping the grammar check for yourself.

Because it is not necessarily the correct word in this context.

They wrote the correct 'you're', as opposed to the incorrect 'your', so yes, I doubt an American wrote it.
The correct you're is exactly why I doubt it was written by a Texan bigot.
One could also say that 8f you want perfect English, perhaps don't start looking in family run ethnic businesses

I did not notice anything but the wife saw the screen door shake. She tried to tell via Google translate but the translation was not even an English word.
No real damage but we had the interior of the house painted about a year ago so no signs of cracks but there are now cracks between the walls and ceilings.
Cant imagine a union that would require Google translate to mediate.

I believe so lom is in lumpini jurisdiction..but thong lo is most notorious.
I once saw a detailed map lumpini and thonglo police districts, and I beleive you are correct.
However I was speaking to this list of locations in another post
QuoteAsoke Intersection
Asoke-Petchaburi Intersection
Sukhumvit Soi 22
Thonglor - Especially around Thong Lo Soi 20
Ekkamai Soi 23 - and the street leading out to Thong Lo Soi 20
The street leading out from Narz club onto Sukhumvit Soi 23
All of the above is Thonglor.
Almost every tourist or foreigner shakedown I have heard has occurred in thonglor district.
I do remember a pair of lumpini cops being involved in a kidnapping and ransom attempt of (I think) an Italian man years back though.
Ah yes, this gem:
http://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/crimecourtsalamity/2013/08/23/1377250791/
Lumpini was very active in drug testing at q bar and nearby nightclubs in the Purachi and war on drugs Era, I found myself in the back of police trucks en route to the station with a hundred others on one occasion.
On a few occasions, I was detained in a club until everyone had a chance to test.
All that achieved was a rise in private house parties, making mdma hard to find, and an influx of cocaine though.

I don't know about high rises, but almost all of the smaller buildings and homes are built with unreinforced brick. If Bangkok was to experience a large quake, I think much of the city would be completely destroyed.
The issue is not so much even the construction of the buildings but the fact that Bangkok rests on clay.
A big earthquake is basically like shaking a jello mold, waves amplify like they would not on a more solid foundation.
This is what made the Mexico city quake so nasty.

Really, its closed? Yes time flies but I don't think the event I describe was over 6 years ago. I didn't even know Bed was closed so it could have been closed at the time. It was in that area though, could have been Q bar, I know that name but I really can't remember.
Q bar is now a villa supermarket. Has been for almost a year, q bar closed maybe 18 months ago.
Bed been gone for ages, long enough to be torn down, moved, reopened as chi, which remained in operation for about 20 mins.

The shake-down areas around lower-mid Sukhumvit have really not changed much over the last 10-15 years.
In no particular order:
Asoke Intersection
Asoke-Petchaburi Intersection
Sukhumvit Soi 22
Thonglor - Especially around Thong Lo Soi 20
Ekkamai Soi 23 - and the street leading out to Thong Lo Soi 20
The street leading out from Narz club onto Sukhumvit Soi 23
For the most part, it is the "two BIB's on a motorbike" routine. If you are polite and keep your cool, you can generally be on your way fairly quickly.
5000 baht fine for not having one's passport at the time sounds like BS to me.
Probably more to the story.
The one thing all. Shakedown areas have 8n common is thonglor police jurisdiction. It's been that way for at least 10-15 years that I can recall.
