How to translate a document written in Thai to English?
scorecard replied to scorecard's topic in General Topics
Thank you, it worked, I can immediately see the English translation on my phone. And the bonus is that the English version is very positive in my favor in terms of the subject / issue at hand. Thanks again. -
That's not what I really said. I didn't mention trial. I did mention obvious proof.

Naah, not true, he did incite an insurrection. the proof has been on your TV screen a hundred times.

I have an official response from a Thai government agency, obviously written in Thai. The copy of the document that I've received is a scanned copy rather than an original document. I've tried to highlight the content so that I can run it through Google translate or similar to get an English version. But the document won't allow me to highlight the content. So I guess the document is in PDF or similar format I don't need an 'officially' perfect translation, just good enough to see the main points. Any suggestions much appreciated, thanks.

From above: "The only reporting to be done if you are staying in Thailand is to the police as per your Red police book which is like 5 years. For your resident permit, only if you go outside Thailand you must come back within Thailand with 365 days as per the last page of your Permanent Resident Permit and must have gotten your re-endorsement." NOTE: The RED police book is specific to the police, in your area, knowing where all PR holders are living, and nothing more. The RED police book is not a document to specifically prove you have PR. As above, it's a police record so the police know where PR holders are living, nothing more. The RED police book must be 'updated' after 1 year and then every 5 years: - Updated means adding a new recent photo and updating the domicile address, if needed. If the domicile address has not changed the holder must still go the the police station and 'report in' and take a new photo which the police will insert into the RED book. - The police station where I report every 5 years is in the city centre in Chiang Mai. The cop who handles this speaks English and is very pleasant. Last time i went my Thai adult son went with me. Son and myself had a pleasant conversation with the police guy. Son mentioned "My father is getting quite old, what happens if dad forgets to do the 5 year update, can he lose his PR status?" Cop responded: - We know there's quite a few quite old foreigners in our region who have PR and have a ED police book, and they have gone past the 5 years RED book update factor, we don't worry about it too much. - The RED book has no connection to approving / continuing PR. PR is an immigration department matter not a police matter. If a foreigner misses the 5 years we can impose a fine for late update of the RED police book (forgot the amount) but this is not reported to the immigration department.

I have no remaining family in Oz. My Thai adult son here and his Thai wife (I live with them) are well aware after a couple of long and detailed conversations: - They should not make any effort to try to contact anybody (family or old friends) in Australia to inform them. - They must find a local low cost cremation facility for the burning. - They take the ashes home and hide them, don't tell other family members (why? because an old interfering aunt has already insisted that when I die she is entitled to 50% of my ashes to look for lucky numbers. My son wants all my ashes at his home, that's it.) - There will not be any party whatever. - If outer family complain about this <and they will> my son will tell them 'Dad's instruction was no party and low cost cremation to save as much as possible for the education of my 4 Thai grand children, no further discussion'. My son can handle this easily he will push back strongly if needed. He's already told his wife's nasty brother the above and told him 'you organize any party when dad dies and you pay for it'.

Australian Aged Pension
scorecard replied to VOICEOVER's topic in Australia & Oceania Topics and Events
There's quite a few Aussie war veterans (Vietnam through to the recent Afghanistan conflicts) who receive: - The Oz 0AP or the DVA Service pension (the details are 99.9% the same), and the person can elect which one to take. - And.. the DVA Permanent Disability Compensation Allowance (previously, until about 1 year ago, this was labelled 'The DVA Disability Pension'). There is no reason whatever why an Aussie cannot get both. Well covered in the website etc., materials. -

There's also many OAP /disability* recipients who have had many years of difficulties / severe difficulties in regard to finding work and holding such positions. (*including war veterans who suffer with severe PTSD issues. And please don't instantly say 'Why don't they get a DVA compensation payment, it's complicated.) All of the above is very hurtful when people say 'Why do you get the OAP, why didn't you work harder and save to support yourself in old age?' -

OK, so what happens if sometime in the future centrelink starts a security or some other process which requires that OAP recipients state their TFN number? Also, if a personal FN number is deleted / dormant or whatever, will that TFN be included in a search for late / extremely late personal tax filing? Or will that TFN not be included in such searches? -

KhunH,,,,,,,,,,,, has posted before that he has no connection whatever to Centrelink. -
A big and wrong assumption on your part: - Changing sexual direction by looking at something gay is not the same as becoming a thief by looking at a movie with bank robbery or similar. In the case of looking at a gay act there's no chance this would change sexual direction unless it was a closet person who has never come out and in fact might influenced to try. The point is that person is already gay. In the case of becoming a thief an entirely different situation, and easy riches might perhaps (for a few people) influence the person to try to try robbery or similar.

Maybe true, and that movie is a well recognised mainstream highly successful gay movie, well accepted in the cinema world. Obviously there are folks who don't want to see such movie, totally their choice. No further comment needed, except that I wouldn't choose to see a devoted lesbian movie. But I have no axe to grind and no judgement whatever with lesbians, I have 2 in my family.
-
What's the name of that movie, please share. My guess is that you made that up to try to prove a point. You failed.

One of the biggest items is the wrong notion that homosexuality is a choice and many US GOP people make this assumption. Some folks don't like some of the behaviors they see on screen, but that dislike applies to gay, not gay, religious, agnostic, old / young, alcoholic / not aloholic folks and dozens of other categories. I have a strong dislike of seeing any form of violence on screen (and in real life). Reality is some people are born homosexual and have no interest whatever to have intimate activities with females. That's reality. Also many folks state that it's condemned in the bible. Many researchers over centuries have stated categorically that it's not mentioned at all in the bible. Also nobody knows what their friends / work colleagues of whoever do in their private life. If their activity is with consenting adults then leave it alone. On the other hand some molest children. Further, nobody knows exactly where the content of the bible comes from and it's accuracy. In fact much of that content is personal opinion rather than proved fact.

So for balance we should object when heterosuxual inclinations (not intercourse) are on screen?
