From above: "I get that some folk are scared of making a fool out of themselves by Wai'ing at the wrong time, in the wrong order, to the wrong person, wrong height of wai etc etc.... they're really over thinking it... " Takes about 10 minutes make yourself fully aware of: when / how high / situations - reasons / who wai's first etc. And in a little more complex situations just go with the flow. I wai regularly and as expected in the situation.

So because of the doubtful points you mention you are leaving Australia. Bye, do you need a lift to the airport? (But prove to me you have a one way ticket first.) -

Lawyers anywhere can be rogues. I would wonder if the lawyer who said 'can't be done' is angling for an extra fee. -
7-11 takes 1000-Baht-bill for 100 Baht, shortchanges - your take?
scorecard replied to henrik2000's topic in General Topics
I regularly visit a 7/11 store close to my hotel in Bkk where I spend half of my life when Im lecturing at 2 unis nearby. Some years back a loud Thai lady insisted she gave 1,000 but only got change of 100. She became very abusive, police called and police requested a district supvr come (in fact had an office in the same store). Police asked several people to clear the store and one cop went outside and held 2 friends of the lady who was claiming wrong change. These 2 were deliberately trying to cause confusion. Police announced that there was no 1,000Baht bill in the drawer and laid out all the notes so they could be seen by all concerned. 7 Supvr then told all the staff to never put a 500 or 1,000Baht bill into the drawer until change had been given and customer had walked away, and he showed then where they must (every time / every cashier) put the 500 / 1000 to hold it until the transaction totally completed and customer was walking away. A spot where the customer could not easily try to grab the note. Supvr had by now taken photos of the errant lady customer and her 2 friends. With police still present and paying attention supvr told the 3 lades they were banned for life from ever entering a 7/11 store anywhere in Thailand. And told them their photos would within 1 minute be added to a tablet screen which shows photos of banned customers. Tablet easily seen by staff but not easily seen by customers. The next morning day a sign at every cashier point in Thai and in English "Please check your change before you walk away from the cashier desk". The staff at this 7 still follow the procedure of not putting 500 or 1,00Baht notes in the drawer until transaction is all completed and customer has taken their purchases, change etc., and walked away. -
But surely variety / options is normal? And, I don't recall ever hearing any suggestion that everybody should be gay.

OK, but does SEPTO provide benefits for OAP recipients ) living abroad / receiving their payments into their offshore bank account (4 weekly cycle)? (Where receiving OAP is the only income.) -
My guess is that it's to save 50Baht for the next lady drink.

Call the SSF Hotline number on 1506 for expert advice. They have an English language option and the officers who take these calls are experts and the discussion is always pleasant. Sometimes the English language option doesn't work and your call falls back to a Thai language officer. If this happens it means there no advanced level English language officer available for such calls at that time. Call back later or the next working day and get an English speaking officer. You will get expert advice and suggestions of what next step to take. Worth the wait. From my experience it's true that many of the SSF officers don't have full knowledge of how to process foreigner applications etc. The SSF officers here in Chiang Mai initially insisted that a yellow Tabien Baan was compulsory, and nobody in the office had ever heard of PR - in fact they insisted I had a visa and they insisted on knowing the expiry date. They were adamant there's no such thing as PR and I must be thinking about another country. I called 1506 and spoke to a very pleasant SSF officer (I think she's an SSF lawyer). She called the CM office and explained to them that the dark blue Tabien Baan book is acceptable for PR holders and explained that PR is real and it's issued for lifetime - there's no expiry date.

"I successfully acquired my reentry permit but did not receive an endorsement before leaving the country. " So the actual Exit / Re-entry stamp is it in your passport or in your PR book? Which one? And what is the expiry date? (expiry date of the Exit / Re-entry stamp). Normally the original Exit / Re-entry stamp is completed in one of the books and the officer then immediately repeats it into the other book (endorsement) then gives both books back to the PR holder. So what transpired?
