  1. I believe they do, it's all about the glory of the military, very powerful stuff. However if some of their responsibilities/their powers, e.g, voting for PM were stopped that would be very valuable to get back to some sembance of democracy and respect for the votes of all citizens.
  2. I've arranged an informal cheap lunch with an also retired friend. I guess it's allowed for that to proceed?
  3. US flying is a bit different. I recall boarding a domestic flight in Houston to fly to xxx (forget). I was one of the first to board however the flight attendants were already yelling at the passengers, including aggressively yelling "You have to do as you are instructed by the cabin crew." The reality was that boarding was all happening calmly, quickly and the passengers all cooperating with each other, correctly putting bags into the overhead lockers etc., and cooperating with the crew. But they should have had an air marshall at the check-in desk, the mid aged check-in lady was without any reason very abusive, even insulting to all the folks checking-in and getting boarding passes.
  4. Agree. In fact it seems to me that the opposition should be going all out / using every activity / legal avenue possible to create total havoc aimed at getting the constitution changed. Sure, very very difficult but it must be tacked in every possible way to create enough 'fire' to force some action to adjust the constitution. It must be possible. From my understanding of the law it's ILLEGAL to create laws, in any country, which cannot be challenged / changed.
  5. Usual level of poor quality / full of mistakes reporting.
  6. Perhaps call several European embassies and ask how to cntact their locl chamber of commerce etc. Some embassies (not all) are very focused on this subject/activity because it might bring business/big business for the home companies. I've heard before that the German embassy / Chamber of Commerce is very active and very focused on this subject. Other countries not interested, waste of a phone call.
  7. Plus one time I made a booking from DM to CM including a lighweight folding wheel chair in the check-in baggage, and of course there's a charge, which I paid to complete the booking. On arrival at DM the check-in staff asked me to take my wheel chair to another floor and send it by one of the courier services. I refused. Then I asked for the airline owned wheelchair to be brought to check-in to take me to security check and to the aircraft door. They refused "We don't have a service like that, you have to walk." One junior boy said can you ask another passenger who has a cabin size wheeled suitcase if you can sit on the wheeled suitcase. At this stage an AA supervisor appeared and asked "What's the problem". I started to tell her only to be interupted by the girl sittting behind the check-in desk "Customers cannot talk to the supervisor." I ignored that and talked over the top of the check-in girl, supervisor came closer to me and we had an intelligent focused discussion. Supervisor then berated all the check-in staff and supervisor called someone. Within 2 minutes a boy came running with an AA wheelchair. Supervisor then assigned one of the boys behind the counter to take care of me through security and to the departure gate, and she instructed him to stay with me until a few seconds before I boarded the aircraft. Then she told the boy, "A few seconds before boarding call me and then give your phone to the customer so that the customer can confirm that you stayed with him until just before the aircraft door. She then tore strips off the check-in supvr. on duty. On the other hand I flew AA CM to Kuala Lumphur and on to Sydney, with checked-in wheelchair. The service was excellent, 5 star at CM for check-in, on arrival at KL and being taken to their loungeand back to the aircraft, on the aircraft, and on arrival in Sydney. Every step focused, polite, full care. I wouldn't expect anything more from a full service airline. Well done AA.
  8. "... but I think I'm legally allowed to break the furnitures up to a total cost of my deposit, just to make sure, am I correct?" What planet are you from? or What state of the US are you from?
  9. YES he did. I mentioned that the roofer guy woudn't do the job unless he constructed new steel rafters. WHY? It was discovered the old wooden rafters were in a very poor condition and in many spots the wood was wet and had seriously disintergrated, fixing the colourbond sheets to the wood would not have been sensible and very possibly the wood rafters would have collapsed when the workers were trying to fix the colourbond sheets.
  10. One brand is colourbond. Comes in several colours which is permanently in the finish of the sheel sheets. We used the one with insulation already fixed on the underside. Roofer wouldn't do the job unless he installed a steel rafter framework first, which wasn't that expensive and done in less than 2 days. Then the very long colourbond sheets, again quite fast. The insulation worked, the house was noticeably cooler and the insulation also kills 90% of the sound of heavy rain etc. Completed about 12 years ago, still looks good, never had one drop of water come in. Same guy replaced several sheets of drywall ceiling, all in 1 day, Same day joins all sealed, next day he repainted all ceilings throughout the house. Very satisfied.
  11. And like it or not their allegiance to the glory of the military is very powerful. Way too powerful, and none of them would ever step out of line in terms of showing they have total allegiance.
  12. Interesting but I will never ever take another flight on either airline. In the era when TG was getting a very large number of complaints re their service, their attitude, their laziness, their lack of concern for passengers needing help was totally awful. After a disgraceful incident with my 18 yo Thai son, both flying Biz class I never again used them and I cancelled the contract we had through a big travel company. We then signed a good deal and had excellent service fom Singapore Airlines.
  13. Good news, I was meaning going home from the airport. But of course there's the 'option' of going up to the departures level and easily/quickly grabing a taxi delivering a departures customer.
  14. But what about taxis on arrival at DM? Still the very long wait to get a taxi?
  15. Life ain't easy, but no longer sleazy.
  16. Yes, I'm approahing 79 years old. After posting I often realize I've made spelling/grammar etc., even though I thought I had checked carefully. my apologies.
  17. My BEST experience with this subject was booking a flight on Singapore airlines (special repatriation flight) in the middle of Covid- 19, from Sydney to S'pore and thru to Swampy. I called S'pre airlines and was quickly transfered to a booking office in Singapore. She explained quickly that it was a free internet based call. She asked several questions then said 'you are eligible to take this flight and it was heavily discounted. Pleasany lady asked if I had more questions. No. She then mentined that the flgight had to be be booked by phone, and she asked If I wanted to go ahead and make / pay for the booking. She also mentioned there woudld be a Sing$10- tel. booking fee. I asked if payment by credit card was Ok and what CC charges would be added. She replied no extra charges for cc payment. It took some time to get the booking completed and add speical arrangements for my wheelchair situation. I was quite happy with the Sing$10 booking fee. One minute after the call I got the e.mail booking confirmation and 10 minutes later a Sing. airlines supervisor called me and said 'Have you has time to real all the details in your booking because it's a bit complex? I responded 'yes, all correct' As always with Singapore Airlines, great service and the flight was also great and great food. What also impressed me was half way Sydney to S'pore the hostes asked me If I would like to take a slow assisted walk around the aircraft to get my legs active etc. I did, what service.
  18. Often called 'funeral insurance', very common in rural villages.
  19. off topic, the thread is about an aircraft just taxiing for take off but the passenger left some belongings in the departure area waiting lounge and wanted the aircraft to go back to the terminal so he could get his forgotten belongings. There's no mention of a passenger opening a door in flight.
  20. Never hear of C J More.
  21. My point is that a hostess isn't the 'driver' of the aircraft. She would tell the pilot 'there's an issue' and the pilot would decide to stop taxiing the aircraft to the runway for take off. As above, the hostess has no controls (no brake) to apply to stop the aircraft. The reporter would know this but wrote the story as if the stewardess halted the aircraft. Can't be true.
  22. Family mart global brand is owned by a Japanese conglomerate, CP holds the master franchise for Thailand.
  23. If you're a billionaire and have no concern about obviously being ripped off on a massive scale.
