  1. Depends on the bank. Some insist on the issue of a document from the appropriate court before the bank account can be accessed. Other banks allow withdrawals from joint accounts. I asked the assistant manager at my bank (major bank, big branch) about this. His response was 'Your account is joint with a family member and set up 'either account holder can sign' meaning that only one signature is needed. When a transaction happens the 'state' of the second person is not explored and is not relevant'.
  2. Ethical competition in most business areas is healthy and will in many product areas bring prices down. A good thing.
  3. Total rubbish. If you took a pole across the whole world I have no doubt you would find strong support for socialism (share the wealth / support and care for each other), plenty of examples each to see. US Americans indicate they beieve socialism is evil. The evil is that they are so ignorant and don't even understand, in modern terms, what the word socialism means today.
  4. Agree, suggest the writer provide some evidence/rationale for the written comments. Politics in Thailand is complex as in many countries, what's not helping is very misleading comment from pseudo econmists/commentators (and perhaps it's deliberately misleading comment?) If allowed, I repeat an earlier comment in this thread: "The political unrest is not Pita's fault. It is the fault of the crooks that are frightened that he will be PM. They will do anything to stop him."
  5. Correct. Some work under strict policies of their home countries that they don't provide this service to their citizens. I'm aware of an incident where a farang took his partly completed personal will to his embassy and asked: - The embassy staff to confirm the way he had written the will was legal etc. - The embassy staff to witness the will. Embassy refused totally on both points. He complained to the gov't agency involved in his home country, they refused to listen.
  6. Depends on which embassy. Some keep well away from this subject.
  7. Rubbish, nothing wrong with leftist, many countries have leftist governments and policies and are doing very well.
  8. Possibly more about what the paymaster is trying to demand. And perhaps soon from his jail cell.
  9. The logic on that escapes me. What made me laugh is the original mention of this which focused on the fact the taxi user used an APP. Are we to therefore assume folks who book on apps are likely to get harrassed, groped or whatever? Let's be honest, many many Thai females have been groped or driver has attempted to grope them in normal street roaming taxis.
  10. I've started to write my message in a normal (legitimate ) Word document, then transfer it to an e.mail when finished. I guess this is the same as your LibreOffice approach.
  11. In my case it's the keyboard on my ACER notebook. The 154Baht keyboard was for an old HP PC which my grandkids use for cartoons, school research, homework etc. But not used for gaming, serious graphics etc. Recently upgraded to Windows 10 with more memory. Works fine.
  12. My issue is writing a long e.mail and suddenly what I've written just disappears and I'm back at a blank e.mail page to start again. No, what i've already written doesn't go into 'drafts', it just disappears. Anybody know how to recover the disappeared partly completed mail? Thanks.
  13. Go away, for a vry long time, you're already very boring.
  14. Here's a suggestion; since you're so new, why not just lock your keyboard and read comments for the next 10 years but don't post. Yes there's posts re CL which might seem to conflict but keep in mind Cl administers multiple scenarios therefore different actions. Please take a long long sleep. I blocked the other guy many months ago. Within 2 or 3 minutes you will also be blocked.
  15. Here we go again. What new rules? The profit of doom has certainly got folks all worked up and caused total (repeat total) confusion. There's no evidence of existing policies/regulations or discussion re same about taxing old age pensions regardlessof location. It's been said a million times before, in multiple scenarios, Oz old age pension is not subject to taxation.
  16. "..., isn't it border force that is going to start the audit by telling the ATO and CL about every Aussie outside of Australia for more than 6 months? " Where did that gem come from? Is that the purpose for existence of Oz border force?
  17. Wow, there's an enlighten highly valuable comment. Where will it end? Will we survive? Perhaps we should all move to the US where everything/everybody is balanced and nobody ever tells a lie.
  18. Can someone please close this out of control thread full of rubbish and no real focus.
  19. I heard recently the driver of a green and yellow hailed taxi drank coffee while driving, kept out of the news, and brand of coffee not revealed.
  20. NO, 7 yo granddaughter dropped the old keyboard, it shattered into multiple pieces. Much crying and visit to computer centre, gave her the cash, she paid (she liked the new keyboard because the box has a lot of pink printing.) She safely carried the new keyboard home and plugged it in, proudly showed her daddy 'keyboard now fixed daddy', she's happy because daddy gave her a kiss for 'good job', life goes on.
  21. You mean Thai Immigration give specific order to the bank telling/instructin the bank they have to open an account for you? Maybe you could also ask Immigration to give you a written order to presnet at a restauant ordering the restaurant to give you medium rare steaks. And ...
  22. Even cheaper, bought a new one 1 week ago, keys marked in Thai and English, 154Baht. Works well. If using wired mouse, the cable can be plugged into the keyboard.
  23. The last thing I ever want to see is a drawn gun. They watch too much US TV and news services, which have no credibility whatever.
  24. I wish people would call the call centre of their Thai bank and get correct information and not rely on opinions on this thread from posters. A comment on this thread a few hours ago says a certain Thai bank doesn't know an answer. I called the call cnter same bank got a competely clear answer; 'only required for Thai citizens. Maybe later for foreigners, but many months and waiting for a clear direction from the Bank of Thailand. Also not needed at the moment for any International Funds transfer using this bank, but if international transfer amount amount is over 150,000Baht a bank officer will interupt the online process to complete some further details, then back to the online process.
