Thaksin Insists On Returning Next Month Despite Family’s Warning
scorecard replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I take your points however what the military did is absolutely not the intent of the law. But yes they did it. A question - is it likely the military would tell the courts to specifically overturn thaksins convictions / sentencing to jail terms? Rightly or wrongly I very much doubt the military would do that. If they did do that then surely the military could play GOD on any sentence given by a court on any Thai citizen. In other words total chaos, total destruction of the rule of law. -
Is there some confusion here? - To qualify for the OAP there is the 35 year rule, but that 'rule' doesn't impact portability. - For OZ citizens who have been outside of OZ for a long time, many can still 'pass' the 35 year rule. If the OAP is approved (must be in Oz to submit the OAP aplication forms) then that citizen must remain in Oz for a period of 2 years (but trips in and out of Oz are allowed and the overall establishment of the 2 year period is not interupted by the time out (building the 2 years continues on uninterupted). When the 2 years is established then that person has portability. Note: - The first day of the 2 year period is the day that person returns to OZ. - The first day of the 2 year period is NOT the day the OAP was approved.

What is a 'Wellness Clinic', how is it different from a basic check up with blood tests?
-
And some small local clinics have doctors who aren't qualified. Beware. Example: for years there was a tiny shopfront on Petchaburi Rd., in Bkk. opposite Pantip Plaza. MyAdmin. mngr took many Thai and farang employees there, some were sick, some needed medical certificates. (e.g. for Work Permits). The 'Dr' spoke good English, for work permit med certificates he always look quickly at the 'patient' and said 'two arms, two legs, one head you pass'. After many years his qualifications were challenged by someone and he was closed down by the police. It happens. Along that stretch of road there's also a couple of fake dental clinics. Maybe same in Essan locations?

For correct answers call the centrelink International office in Hobart, they have a dedictated free hotline from Thailand. Easy to find the free call number on the main Centrelink site. C'link officers always good listeners and clear answers. But note all calls to Centrelink and many gov't agencies (e.g. DVA and tax and M'care, and more) are recorded and saved. If needed C'link will review what you have said in the past. And C'link has a 24/7 link to Oz immigration records both in and out. "forced exile for 2 years..." It's not as bad as that, after your return to oz and show that you are re-establishing a home in Oz you can depart and re-enter Oz often, perhaps out of Oz for 3 weeks. And the building of the 2 years period isn't interupted. By the rules you are expected to inform C'link of any planned inter. travel but you don't have to tell them where you are going abroad.

In the normal course of events / in the normal standard judicial processes he will be arressted when he sets foot on Thai soil and taken to jail. But right now he's making a lot of noise insisting he will come back. So what's happening? Does he have some personal way to be outside of the laws of Thailand? Lots of questions. -
Big response. Never heard of it.

Is Anxiety a Pre-Existing Condition?
scorecard replied to omnipresent's topic in Insurance in Thailand
"Most of them, you can´t change anyway...." So how is anxiety a choice. I suffer from anxiety as an element of severe PTSD from my active service in VN. Also panic. Yes it comes and goes and I have no control over these conditions. It's not a choice I make. -
Get a hobby, something like growing food.

Just wondering if you should compromise to let your wife be closer to her parents. 70K is not a 15 minute drive especially if she needs sometimes to get to parents quickly. Good luck.

Many str8 females (many countries) head for Bali to find a Bali beach boy holiday bf. I read this is popular with Australian, Japanese, Korean females and many from Europe.

So how come many of these deaths (assassinations) were openly mentioned / discussed as extra-judicial killings. At the height of his arrogance there were several examples of his belief that he was above the law. And he absolutely controlled the police. The paymaster spoke, the police instantly jumped. The police were frightened of him, clear as a bell. -

Interesting point; - This would display to all how deeply corrupt the country is. - Openly display to the whole country the loyalties of all, especially: Who the police are loyal to. Who the military is loyal to. Who the judiciary is loyal to. Who the council of state is loyal to. - and more... -
Sometimes it's not returned, and/or engagement is avoided for one specific reason: - The Thai person can't speak English (no judement intended), and they avoid engagement because they fear the foreigner will speak English to them and they can't respond and they will lose face. So avoid engagement. Not rude, just normal human behavior. An extension of this, I speak pretty good Thai, several times I've spoken to shop (and other) people in polite Thai and contact avoided, so I ask again politely - more avoidance. Then my Thai son (his face is more Thai than foreign) says politely, in Thai 'My dad is speaking to you in pasa Thai'. Then a second later the penny drops and a two way conversation starts.
