  1. There's another point. How many potential tourists do days of research about the local politics, police activities etc., etc? I suggest the answer is less than 1%. Bottom line - friends had a holiday in Thailand / lots of TV adverts to visit Thailand, let's go.
  2. "Yes, cause the vision and reaction time of a 17 y/o is exactly the same as someone that's 73. " Irelevant and off topic. The cables should be strongly secured and high enough that such accidents can't happen. No other point is relevant!
  3. Thanks, I'll share your comments with the executor. I believe the hospital puts a a copy of each bill and a copy of the banking transfer in the hospital bedside nightstand, and from earlier comments the executor has been keeping all of these on a file. As mentioned, I'm not actively involved.
  4. The way things are going, it will be easy enough soonto make the same comment about the US - wretched country awash with firearms and shootings of little kids and awash with politicians who are habitual serious liars. And awash with large amounts of corruption. Oh sorry they're called lobbyists.
  5. Hey that's the passport officer when I arrived at New Delhi airport. At first I thought it was an automated smiling howdy doody doll, then ...
  6. I used this (actually a local Thai handyman, speaks good English) a few years back to fix a leaking pipe, the water going into the wall for the upstairs shower. The leak area was just above the ceiling on the ground floor level. Ceiling was wet.
  7. And official/fake officials will always be present, but not keeping traders off the beach.
  8. Yep, same at Melbourne airport. I selected a nice looking sandwich, then realized it was 3 times the typical cost in a local coffee shop. PLUS, I discovered the sandwich in the bag was hard frozen. I said 'No, I want something to eat right now, I'm hungry'. Airport sales girl 'Never mind only a couple of hours to thaw out'. 'No thanks, I want the one from the display, all thawed out and IT looks fresh'. 'Cannot, that's only for display',
  9. I wonder how many sets of these drunken foreigner sticks exist, and where?
  10. But I don't want to have contact with the RTP when I am on holiday and I'm not wanting to have a fuzzy experience with any cops anywhere.
  11. But you could never lose your cash? Do you have a card to get your beloved cash from the ATM? Maybe that card breaks or is stolen/lost? Bottom line - there's negatives about any system. Why not go with the convenience of a card. Why the way, are you aware that some (maybe all) banks offer cardless ATM transactions. And in some countries you can report a lost/broken/stolen Credit/ Debit /ATM card at any ATM/any bank?
  12. "...you may need to prove incapacity at the time bank access was granted (that can't be done to a certainty like a court would like since the evaluation was not performed at that point in time) ..." This is why the executor has been trying to contact the Thai lawyer who is on a very extended vacation in the US but lawyer won't answer his phone and won't answer e.mails (lawyer is from Pattaya). Executor somehow got the mobile no., of a family member where lawyer is staying in the USA. Someone answered the phone in English and executor asked to speak to the lawyer. Response 'oh just a moment'. But when executor said who he was and 'I need to talk to you urgently about xxxx xxxxxx' he hung up. Executor has since been to the main police station in Pattaya and spoke to a snr. cop there (good English) who (not surprisingly) said 'the police cannot get involved, suggest you find another lawyer' and gave the executor a printed list of 5 lawyers. Executor and 2 of the benefifiaries went to 3 lawyers on the list, mentioned challenging the order held by the hospital. When name of hospital disclosed they all quickly said they were too busy. Next step ???
  13. Sounds like it's a morons only shop.
  14. But not all farang in Thailand belongs to the lifestyles you guys depict. My happiness comes from having a wonderful Thai family, and success in career.
  15. So what news sources do you watch / believe / trust? Come on give us a laugh.
  16. But how would be comb and colour his hair?
  17. Yep, touch it, smell it, lick it, kiss it, listen to it, check if instalation is available by experienced people and check the price.
  18. Before buying a revolving 'turban' type product check how well it's manufactured and check the gap between the static part and the revolving part. If not well designed and built the two parts can easily touch each other, causing break down of these sections of the product and loud noises. With all such products get a couple of rcommendations from users, especially re noise. Many, when revolving, especially revolving fast build a quite loud revolving 'take off' noise which is loud and unpleasant. A friend in Sydney had several installed in the roof of his large house. He got a qualified engineer to design a prototype, when it worked well they went ahead and built/installed 4 or 5 across the roof and with good results to pump air out. The designer insisted on using a very large industrial ball bearing between the static and revolving components which markedly reduced vibration and noise, and helped to bring higher speed and better effectiveness. Cost a fortune but highly effective.
  19. But if they were banned it would stop these attacks, it would stop children and adults ensuring awful traumic attacks and scars for life. So banning is good.
  20. "... The American Kennel Club says online that a "well-bred and properly raised Rottie will be calm and confident, courageous but not unduly aggressive.' " Surely not relevant / changes nothing about this unfortunate case. Thee dogs should be banned, nothing more nothing less.
  21. Thanks. I will forward your comments to the executor, I know he has had several discussions with the snr. doctor at the hospital. What comes to mind is that the hospital involved has a reputation for high charges* etc., and (different point) I fear that the hospital will fight strongly against any move to cancel the authority they hold. But of course it could be worth trying. (* The patient has been close to death several times, and each time the hospital seems to have gone to the bank more often/more frequently and received instant payments. In more recent times the beneficiary holding the bank book and ATM card seems to have reduced his level of concern for the welfare of the dying man and increased his focus on getting as much cash as he can.) The beneficiary who is holding the bank book and ATM card is not always a pleasant man. It's known that someone has told him if the patient dies and there's no money in the bank, then the beneficiaries would be ordered by the court to pay the hospital bills. Very doubtful of course but he seems to believe this is true, therefore perhaps that's why he hasn't drained the account. Having said all of the above, yes there's some fact involved and there's some opinion involved.
