  1. That should cover about 10% of the costs of the paymasters stay in their luxury suite.
  2. There's another item that still needs clarification 'income'. Previous answers seemed to suggest that (for example) Oz old age pensions transferred automatically to Thai bank accounts are not classified as 'income'. But we still wait and see.
  3. Your deliberately twisting my comment.
  4. Nice for you but each to his own / personal choice. I never had pleasant / enjoyable times with any of my 5 cousins, all male. They all went to very expensive schools and reminded me often. All were arrogant and lacking in basic common sense. They had never been taught right and wrong.. acceptable behavior and not acceptable behavior (by their dads or mums). They were just too old for compulsory national service. Soon after I finally returned from Vn there was a whole family gathering for the uni graduation of a cousin. I went to the party, I got invited into the bedroom of one of my cousins. As soon as I walked through the door he fired a rifle and hit a target on the wall quite close to me. everybody laughed. The cousin who fired the rifle called his dad into the room and told his dad about firing the rifle / hit a target very close to me. His dad (my uncle) grabbed my hair and arm and said "not so brave now soldier boy". I was shocked and upset, I quickly found my dad, explained what had happened and dad immediately took me home with no discussion with his brother (my uncle) or the uni boy. Dad spent the rest of the day chatting about life with me, making sure he was listening to my comments. The next day uncle called my dad and accused him of being rude at his son's graduation. And insisted that I explain why I had told my dad. I shared with dad that rifle fire and a round landing so close to me really and the loud rifle fire sound shook me up. (Later I was diagnosed with severe PTSD). Dad told his bother about this. His brother responded with "what total bull<deleted>" and laughed at dad every time he saw dad for years. Dad and I and mum deliberately ignored them for the rest of our lives. A question: why would/should we try to make any effort to gain pleasant relationship with them? 25 years later I got a call from my cousin and he apologized for the rifle shot in the bedroom. I said 'thanks' and hung up.
  5. Just wondering? It is possible they need the not small fee, so they forget their past statements, past comments indicating their values and ethics, for the cash. Who knows. Trump has done the same thing hundreds of times, the cash wins out.
  6. The long write up goes all over the place. Just wondering if the fee transcends all values and ethics?
  7. You need a hobby, perhaps knitting, knit yourself a full head cover.
  8. True, the USA is not a good example of democracy, the person who can raise the most funds likely wins. And there's no institutional process to fact check what candidates say; bottom line candidates get away with hundreds of blatant lies. Not democracy. On the other hand there are countries where there are strict limits on how much money / how that many is spent on campaigning, and the limits are not that big. And automatic analysis of their speeches and charges laid if lies discovered. Candidate cannot continue and cannot ever again be a candidate.
  9. Joke of the year. You need to do a lot more reading about musk. ie. his mental condition, autism, his claims of inventing many things that are actually invented by his staff / friends, and his human rights record, in regard to his own staff...
  10. Another example; my father's mother was a nasty ignorant old bitch, she gave my dad hell all of his life, she severely criticized everything he did or said, she refused to allow him to go to school because she wanted his labor on the farm 24/7 (she did the same to half of dad's 8 siblings). At 20 years old he was illiterate, he met my mother a school teacher and by early 30's he had the equivalent of about 3 masters degrees. As a kid I spent very little time with grandma, most of that time I got bombarded with her nasty statements words about how bad my dad was, also his wife. At 20 years old I got called up for army service and went to the conflict in Vietnam. Grandma asked around and discovered she cold write letters to me in Vn. She send several letters, all focused on how bad my dad was. Then I got the jackpot letter, she wrote "and what have you got to worry about, my sons went to a real war". I bundled all her letters and sent them home to dad. Dad called his mother and said "I forbid you from ever writing more letters to my son. She responded, on the phone by saying "doesn't matter he's probably dead by now". Dad responded to her "this is the last time you will ever hear from me, and I disown you forever". He kept to his promise.
  11. Sibling rivalry / sibling pressure. I'm aware of an American living in Bangkok, 1 of his brothers is a respected heart surgeon, a sister is a specialist dental reconstruction expert, she rebuilds mouths after massive damage in car accidents etc. Another brother is a household name in the US as a criminal prosecutor and another brother is a famous mystery novelist. All of the US siblings are now very wealthy. All have serious advanced education degrees. The brother living in Bkk is a management consultant who has guided several Thai western companies (operations in Thailand) back to success from the brink of failure. He has a bachelor degree. For many years most of the US siblings contingent have done a yearly siblings reunion in Bkk at great expense. They never contact the brother living / working in Bkk but they have a couple of times ran into the Bkk guy in hotel lobbies / in restaurants etc., always generating much sarcasm and nasty comments about his job, lack of fame etc. But they ask id he's OK, never buy him a meal or a drink. Sometimes families suck.
  12. Yes he's an engineering genius, but he's also crazy and a conspiracy theorist, not appropriate.
  13. Up to you. I guess it's obvious that I was trying to make the point that I wouldn't use a taxation agency without being convinced that they are broadly knowledgeable and they have well satisfied clients. Also, if an agent wants new business they should have already developed a system whereby they can impress new potential clients. If you would accept an agent without the above that's up to you.
  14. Also, before I used a tax filing agency i want to be convinced the person/agency is very knowledgeable about current laws / regulations specific to foreigners. I would ask the person/agency to give me the name /phone number of 3 long-term customers and their phone numbers and I would call them and share a quick summary of your situation and then ask 'what comments/ advice do you have please?'
  15. Venture disposable shavers worth a try, double blades, excellent shave, I get about 12 shaves out of one shaver. Handle is shorter than Gille..., which means I hold the handle closer to the blades and that seems to keep the blades area more steady and a closer balanced shave. 30Baht for 2 shavers, as above, worth a try.
  16. Agree. People employed in positions where public safety / danger is present / paramount should be automatically jailed for violence.
  17. QUOTE: "...Asian women hate beards..." Years ago I was discussing something with my Thai wife (Dr. of medicine) and her mother joined the conversation (both spoke very advanced English). Then beards entered the chat. To get to the point, both agreed that many Thai women see men with beards as just lazy. Some also profile beards as smelly.
  18. Several times I've had the experience (both GRAB and BOLT), I enter the destinations (the system knows I'm at home and knows my address), then the GRAB / BOLT systems indicate they are searching for driver. Many times driver found quickly, but also many times 'no drivers available to pick you up in next 20 minutes etc. All indicating their drivers (at some points in the day are getting many continuous jobs.
  19. Nice points however: 1. I rather doubt trump being all that civil with Obama. 2. Trump should have had much more respect for the occasion / the reason why they were there , the funeral of a past president, regardless of what party carter belonged to.
  20. Good points, but let me share, the first address entered in my police Red book was at the big Banglamung police centre. Then the whole family moved to Chiang Mai (CM). I went to the Banglamung office 14 days after we moved to Chiang Mai to tell the Banglamung staff I had moved to Chiang Mai. This conversation was initially with a civilian clerical worker who spoke good English; when I told her I had moved to CM14 days earlier she went pale and said 'you are very late and I need to report this to a police snr. Police snr came quickly, he was polite, he told me that I had broken the transfer address rules and he told the civilian lady (in good English) to fine me 2,00Baht, then he disappeared. A few minutes later he returned and asked me 'do you have any further comments or explanation why you are so late? I shared 'yes, I had to go to China quickly for an important project with the Chinese / Thai governments'. He then said 'change the fine to 200Baht' . I thanked him and said 'I've been worried I might lose my PR. He smiled and said 'NO NO, that cannot happen because of being late to change address, but you have really broken a regulation'. He concluded by saying 'if you change address again please be careful about this, you don't want a 'late' note twice in your police book.' All done.
  21. For me 35 years... The OP is a drama queen, not difficult in any way to use, no manual needed, adjust the pressure by pressing trigger on the spray to gain whatever pressure you want, totally simple. Yes for 99.9% of Thai toilets it's cold water. No big deal. Never once heard a Thai or farang person complain about the water being cold. Never hears of a farang wanting hot water. If it's so critical get a plumber in and install a small size water heater, but don't scald yourself.
