  1. The solution was to let bars sell alcohol as restaurants, AFTER they pay for the authorization to do so, then shortly after, simply let bars sell alcohol. Cha-Ching. ????
  2. Unless it was really Thai's involved, and the Korean's are a red herring. ????
  3. I had to check I still had my wallet and phone after reading that article. ????
  4. If you have 2 million baht in the account, do you get double the guarantee? ????
  5. Yet, the amount of lives in their hands are nearly the same.
  6. Once again, I wish the project well, but as seen in the past with other projects, the Thai's will push it to the brink, squeezing every baht out of it they can, and then, if it's still successful, they will invent new things that need to be complied with, or new licences or permits that will need to be required. They resist progress here because it cuts into their traditional corrupt cash payments system all across the country, thus, Thailand continues to remain in The 3rd World.
  7. I have no problem with wine connection, but I was thinking a late night venue, acoustic guitar or baby grand piano, for good wine and good times, after all, Pattaya is a "World Class Tourist Resort." ????
  8. I disagree. It's about education, training, and professionalism. How much of these do you get for 300 baht a day, yet, they hold so many lives in their hands.
  9. I know it was a minivan. I simply used a larger public passenger vehicle to highlight how many lives a poorly trained and unprofessional Thai driver can have in his hands, not to mention, the vehicles coming the other direction as well. Several small ATR 72 planes are in operation in Thailand. They carry about 72 passengers. The pilot has to meet international training standards, and the plane has to meet international standards for maintenance. A 300 baht a day, untrained Thai driver, who may have paid a bribe for his licence, has around 58 people's lives in his hands, which is not that many less than a popular small commercial flight in Thailand that has to meet high international standards. Little wonder so many die on the roads here.
  10. Mistreatment of animals is disgraceful, especially small and harmless creatures like birds. The cruelty to animals in Thailand knows no bounds.
  11. It's been happening for years, all over Thailand. I remember this one, in Phuket. It happened on more than one occasion. One time, the US Navy pulled anchor and went somewhere else, no sailors even getting off the ship, taking their millions of dollars, not baht, with them. Until the Thai authorities address the terrible land transport issues for tourists, Thailand will never attract high end tourists.
  12. Yes, a coach bus driver has around 58 people's lives in his hands, and he has had no proper heavy vehicle training, and most likely paid a bribe to get his licence.
  13. Yes, wine is taxed so heavily that it makes it cost prohibitive for middle class Thai's, and why, all because Thailand doesn't really make wine, so tax all things farang. Thai Business 101. Better to rip off a few, than sell to the masses and make even more money.
  14. I know that bar owner. I saw him walking down Bangla Road the day after he sold the bar. ???? On a serious note, you would probably be good at running a decent wine bar.
  15. Well, we all know "Money Number One in Thailand" but without any proper town planning laws, with a view to sustainable tourism and tourist associated businesses, there is going to be a lot of vacant premises in Pattaya, both commercial and residential, and they continue to keep building more and more, and this has nothing to do with covid. This development could very well be a big success, but it could come at the cost of have "dead" malls, hotels, shops, gyms, zoo, restaurants, bars, nightclubs massage etc etc surrounding it. A development of this size and scale doesn't just cut the pie into smaller wedges, it takes a third of the whole pie for itself.
  16. Is this you, on a quiet night out, enjoying your holiday in Pattaya? ???? (click play) https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3269602/Shocking-moment-bar-manager-smashed-head-bottle-Thai-holiday-resort-telling-two-drunk-Britons-pay-bar-bill.html
  17. I'm not sure. I haven't been up there for quite a while. It was the pool I would put newbie friends onto if they were staying in a small place with no pool. It's probably no longer open to the public.
  18. You can still get a good game of Connect 4, if you know where to go. ????
  19. Possibly, because they are drafting a new "pool table license" than bars will have to buy to have a legal pool table. ????
  20. They are not dreamers, just misleaders. ???? Invest in Pattaya because we are building great things like this. Meanwhile, flooding, beach erosion, uneven sidewalks, ocean water quality, scams etc etc are not addressed.
