44 Foreign Drivers Arrested in Patong with No Driving Licenses
Tropposurfer replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Actually its 60 days on a foreign license and OR an international driving permit. Then if you continue to drive regardless of what foreign license you have you MUST either stop driving, riding or go get a Thai license (2 year period of validity for the first Thai license). If you don't get a Thai license at or before the 60 days of continuous presence and riding in LOS expires you are considered under Thai traffic law to be driving license-less and breaking the law. -
Thailand’s worsening PM2.5 problem is lost in the fog of politics

I wonder if a govt subsidised co-op harvester system nationwide would help deter farmers from seasonal burning of cane fields? They cost a lot to buy but not crazy costs to maintain. In Oz they do this in concert with the sugar mills, sub-contractors who come in for 'the cut', as well as small co-ops of farmers owning harvesters. They don't burn in Oz anymore (well on the east coast anyways) and haven't for many years. -
Woke a catch-cry for anyone who want to latch onto anything that serves their paranoid, oppressive, yes fascist leanings and ideologies. Maher does have in his monologues some solid and realistic truthful and sensible content that is to be sure. The individual leaning of some around openness and acceptance of difference, has in some instances, lent so far as to have some people metaphorically 'fall over' in their actions around gender identity and opening conversation about such things e.g I might chose to see myself as a penguin. I heard an interesting conversation between a little girl (maybe 5) and a woman and the little girl said something about boys n girls as being her perceived expression of choice of gender and the woman said 'it might be between two women who are married'. Now this to me seemed to show a lack of containment and a self-indulging by the woman. But lets be clear and delineate this idea of wokeism from other tropes of fascism (and it like so many other topics holding out attention today a fascist based trope). The GOP, and a large proportion of its rights narrative is a fascist one not a 'Republic loving' one any longer so lets be very clear on that. I say this not because i am woke or a communist but a student of history and fact not ideological fantasies. Presenting to people, using, and blending this idea of 'wokeism' as a cultural corrosive 'movement' is an atypical usage and ploy of fascistic tropes. Now we see, so entirely predictably, the coming-out around individual freedom to be who we chose to be, now being blended to the trope of the Military becoming woke, along with a cabal conspiracy against the 'true citizens'. Other equally predictable tropes are; If you are not woke then you can't and mustn't be 'soft' and therefore useless, a concerted and deliberate nationwide campaign to make children homosexual or transexual is another fear based trope, to teach in schools a false history around the obscene racism of the United Sates phenomenology and claim that teaching actual factual history is instead a false narrative is pure fascist based projection and total BS. These narratives have within them many subtexts, these are always the same: i.e. that we are being attacked and will be consumed by the 'other', that our socio-economic trials and struggles emanate form 'them', that we are the true example of humanity all else are 'unter-mensch', that the sick and weak are a threat and repulsive (yet another example of the disowning of ones own frailty and faults and projecting them onto the other). Trumps revulsion and cold cruel criticism of disabled veterans and a war vet and hero John McCaine are perfect examples of this revulsion. 'Real men' 'true American's true Russians' et al. must be steely and hold to the tropes lest they will betray the 'true' race, be hard and hold this as a badge of honour and sectarian pride, be unyielding, brutal, rigid in ideologies (with ourselves as well as the other). The seeking of a saviour, a leader who embodies such ideologies (again a projection of that which we are deeply ashamed of in us because being centred, truly loving, gentle, living in equanimity with others and therefore integrated is absent and must at all cost be projected), to cover this absence/ lack of integration we attach to the rage and bitterness in our own being and thus to maintain this repression we must project. Because a loathing of their own fear and frailty exists they project this outward because they simply cannot hold and reconcile these shameful parts of themselves, thus the 'other' is sought and once found held onto beyond any logic, sense, reason, fact, or humanity. We see the cracks in their suppression and glitches in the projection with all manner of sexual, financial, and treasonous behaviours from those who are so avowed to fascism. When you teach children in every way that there are different races, construct socially an all pervasive system built on and designed to procreate racism, classism and other isms, "otheration" (J Bradshaw, 1997) coined it we make blind, obedient, and willing the populace to these fascistic evil tropes. What is happening now is a 'season', a season of instead of hiding and avoiding wider social contact by those who see themselves as unique and to some social paradigms and role definitions 'differenct' openly 'coming-out' and speaking out. As human beings they have an inalienable right to a voice and to using it. This us in complete contradiction to those who do not see these folks as human at all. Such is the level of otheration being exerted. If anyone knows anything about different ideas other than those of always-rigid religious based indoctrinated ideologies then they would know and (as history clearly shows us without question) those in unusual and minority across the whole of human experience and diversity have been brutalised and 'othered' since man first stood upright to walk. The age-old trope that gay people will 'turn' kids, predate on them is simply not true. To be factually clear children are far, far more likely to be abused sexually by males, and males who appear/present as heterosexual and who come from mainstream cookie-cutter shaming constrictive religious upbringings (and therefore deeply suppressed feelings and thus neurotic abberated behaviours). 'Wokeism' and its promotion comers directly, directly out of the age-old tropes of fascism and white supremacist evil. It is always shot-through with deep personal inadequacy, paranoia, suppression and projection. If you think what I just wrote is BS then I suggest you go and do some historical research. When I say 'historical research' I don't mean listening to and quoting Carlson, or MTG or Gates of Jordan or Jones or the extreme insane evangelical pastors proliferating such fascist ideologies under the guise of religious and spiritual doctrine.

What a terrible end. A brave man. What can you say about a dog that has a long history of attacking. Ignorant owners caging up an animal, or perhaps caging because as it matured it simply became obvious it was dangerous and they had nowhere to go to seek training and behaviour amendment. I imagine zero socialisation with other animals or people as the article seems to hint at, indicate. ALL dogs have the capacity to bite. Some because of their breeding are particularly dangerous and bred specifically as specialist killing dogs from past centuries (bear killing). We have dogs, all socialised and well trained, and not bred, designed with a 'strong predation instinct' to hunt and kill. I love animals, but say put this animal down quietly with the 2 needles immediately!

Two People on Phuket Bus Injured after Gunman Opens Fire

Crikey mate!!!! Might be time to add bulletproof glass and armour to the SUV !!!!???? -
Yep posters ... monsoon cusp downturn ... all naturally predictable, nothing to see here. I'm so grateful to have my own home here now. I simply have almost zero pain in the you know where with the tourist hoards. Its a source of gratitude to not be a tourist here now, an alien yes but a tourist no lol ???? Bang T. is much busier and even the Thais (jaded and cynical often with the tourists) seem to be a tad looser and happier with more baht in their 'dilly-bags'. Nai Thon is definitely busier these days (and since the Ukraine crime there are are more Ruskies) for sure but early morning for my laps of the beach is still super quiet. Meal at Bocconcino Bang T. last weekend and had to book days ahead as they were booked out which we have never had happen before. Place was buzzin' with lots of Ruskies and the usual Euro kaleidoscope present.

Ikea laminated - especially kitchen cupboard furniture, is usually made from a number of composite materials. It can be made of solid timber sheeting or plywood's (our kitchen is all waterproof ply). Primarily these composites, in Aussie call them 'particle-board', are compressed fibres mixed with glues. The particles can be see easily when cutting or breaking a sheet of this @ about 10 to 15 mm long. 'MDF' which is also a particle-type board too but of a much finer particle size (its basically a super thick and highly compressed cardboard - when power-sawn or routed cuts very smoothly - light brown colour). I understand folks gotta use particle-board materials for making cupboards because they're cheap and for colder less humid climates they work well for a long time. But in LOS because we have very high almost constant humidity particleboard furniture isn't a good long term thing. The high humidity in LOS and any water that can ingress between the 'Melamine' laminate covering on the board will see the board soak up any moisture, begin to swell, and the board crumble and fall apart which means the death of the entire unit. This will definitely accelerate when the board is cut post-manufacture and assembly. To your question of reinforcing. For the carcass joints use wood PVC glue, add screws. For the visible joints you can buy a drill-bit that will countersink a 'well' when you pre drill for the screws. This well will receive the screw and a plastic covering plug. To reinforce the backing sheet which usually is made of the fine MDF material. You could add a sheet of plywood and simply glue and screw to the back sheet and the cupboard carcass (simply cut the ply larger to overlap the edges of the carcass, glue, and screw along these edges) - the ply has far strong linear strength and will really solidify the backboard. Add sealer, and slap a coat of paint on top. If you haven't assembled the unit as yet or can remove the backboard it would be easier and give a stronger bond to lay the backboard down onto a sheet of plywood glue together, add weights on top, dry, then cut out the holes then reattach to the cupboard. I'd do my best to seal the cuts you have made through the MDF backing-board with a sealer and some waterproof paint - to deter the slow ingress of humidity-moisture. Remember these particle boards are easy to split and in narrow thickness areas you might be advised to drill a pilot hole first as well as countersinking the hole as the screw head will spread and lost likely split the particleboard giving a bulge in the surface of the sheet.

Seven French motorcyclists fined for causing a nuisance in Phuket

Another stellar affirmation as to why I/we rarely go to Patong. Ahh the joys of now being semi-sane, somewhat mature, reflective, and gaining joy from anything but threatening risk taking man-child motivations. Little boys in men's bodies. The place, like Patt's, is lousy with these idiots. -

A certain UTuber has peyote growing healthily in his north eastern garden. Why not contact him and ask for directions to natural hallucinogen's. -
If you like trains, then the journey is lovely. Leisurely and unhurried. Lots of changing scenery after a time. Rivers to cross lots n lots of green countryside to watch go by. Slow, rhythmic, and last time we did (some years back now) a dining car of sorts. 1st class is my advice, and if you like a really comfy seat take a travel cushion and your neck flight pillow, a book (if you like reading) and you can have a snooze as you please. The sleeper train to KL is great fun too.

He's a very, very silly man hahaha ???? I loved the books he wrote with his psychiatrist. -
Ahh "steering stick" ???? You mean the 'tiller'. I wouldn't be surprised at one or the other happening. If folks get into a boat and have zero boating understanding then moving to the port or starboard gunnels and listing the boat rapidly is entirely possible, as is a slip or miss step by the helmsman and pushing or pulling the tiller radically. Nobody drowned or ended up in the prop/s so thats a good thing.

As a pool owner of many pools I'd say thats an algae not a mould. As far as I am aware mould needs oxygen to grow and can't doesn't grow under water. You have to scrub if all off, then refill pool and chlorine dosing to kill off the small algae particles of algae still in the grout and in the pool water. Algae is very tough so after cleaning lots of it off you gotta attack the base where its is growing in the grout. Visual removal only isn't enough to kill it off entirely. It looks bad enough to warrant emptying the pool to do that to me. Then you readjust your pool chlorine to cleanse the water, and after running the filter system at max and cleaning the filters a few times, and or changing them out for new cartridges once this process has been done. DON'T get your head underwater while this is being done, as the algae might be dangerous to you if ingested or entering nose, eyes or ears. I'd get a good pool guy to come and check your entire system. The only way I've ever seen such algae as this growing is because the maintenance was consistently poor e.g. filtration system not working properly over a period of time. Often its all these issues in concert, creating a cascading effect along with failure to test and adjust Ph/chemical levels regularly especially after rain or after refilling pool during dry season evaporative periods.

Necessary service items or just nice to do?

For an 11 year old car/utility in LOS, on LOS roads, the repair list isn't unreasonable to me. The list, seems to me, to show normal wear-and-tear parts list. The great thing here is the cost of labour for auto-repairs is ridiculously low and for vehicles assembled in LOS the parts are cheap too (by Aussie standards anyways).
