KTM Duke 390 - which tires and where to buy in Bangkok?
MAF666 replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
We have 2 Clicks. Have Pirelli Rosso' on 1, standard IRC on the other. Aerox with Champions. CRF with IRC's Pirelli are far superior in every way. Worth the money. We live rural, so all from Laz. -

Reducing my house electricity costs – any advice please .
MAF666 replied to Custard boy's topic in The Electrical Forum
Are you saying that you have 22 different devices each controlled via a WiFI controlled socket and an app? YES. Also Bluetooth and Zigbee network, all mostly voice or scene controlled. The ones you plan to use in future, dual channel, report your energy usage. But that's no god if you don't do anything about it. CORRECT. You say ROI is not important, but you are trying to save a few units of electricity using gadgets which costs Bht 399 each INCORRECT. Implementing a further 4 smart devices. The new unit is 75% smaller, easier to install, and now comes with the energy consumption functionality embedded. In UK they talk about Smart Meters will save you energy, but only if you reduce your consumption accordingly. CORRECT -

Thank you for the insight. Designed, implemented, and supported this bulletproof system for 2 years. Currently have 22 single channel Sonoffs across the network topology. Plan to redeploy 4 single channel Sonoffs and replace with 2 dual channel units with the energy usage reporting. ROI is not important. -

Our house electricity system is controlled by Sonoff switches. Timers are set on most things, ie the water cooler switches off from 20:00 to 08:00, when the urn is turned on it turns off after 90 minutes, the espresso machine turns off after 60 minutes, tv is powered off etc. Not sure what difference this makes. This 2 channel switch comes with embedded power metering. Sounds useful. Have ordered 2 to try. -

We adopted 2 magnificent Ridgeback puppies from a forum member in January this year. We maintain a friendship with the original parent to this day. It has been a positive experience for all of us. Should you be serious about your concerns, make it known on this forum that you would like someone to adopt. You will be able to interview and select a perfect alternative -
We live a very similar lifestyle on a 10 rai organic farm in the Chanthaburi highlands, in our 3rd year. Married for 16 years, on a marriage visa. Keep b400k in the bank and b1900 pa for extension. We have no debts or gambling habits. Our 15 year old son attends distance learning in Oz, cost this year $360. Great value for an International education. Fixed costs are PEA and AIS. Always less than b3000 pm. We harvest rainwater. Have not needed to install aircon. The house is based on the Darwin K house eco design, and has surpassed our expectations on livability. Currently 22c-24c of a night, fans have been sufficient. 1 rai dam with Tab Tim and Catfish. We stocked it 2 years ago with 8000 finglings. So far it is like the "Magic Pudding" Ducks provide eggs and meat. Breeding Redclaw crayfish for the BBQ. 2 rai of veg garden, and we also grow mushrooms. Medium term we expect a useful income from 100 Durian trees, and 50 each of Mangosteens, Mangoes, Avocado's, Kratom, Bamboo and other trees. The farm provides most of our food and provides ~b12k pm in sales of excess produce. Bartering produce with neighbors rounds out our food requirements. The farm income is enough for frosty Leo's and b40 meals. This life is not for everyone. Retiring after working for 40+ years in the corporate world my only regret is that we did not make the move 10 years earlier... Could not imagine ever living in Darlinghurst (Sydney) again...

Ceiling fan remote control installation Queries
MAF666 replied to jojothai's topic in The Electrical Forum
I have a number of smart fan switches that look identical to this. They work on RF or on WiFi via an app. The white is an aerial for the RF controller. White and black are 220v power. Blue runs the light switch. -
I had a Small Tasco astronomical telescope. Great for highlighting the moon,, could focus on land features but the image was upside down 180* out

Home Automation, Home Assistant in Thailand?
MAF666 replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in The Electrical Forum
Have you considered Google Assistant for voice control of your smart devices? The Interpret mode translates continuous speech ie speak English, translates to Thai, speak Thai, translates to English. We have everything on Sonoff or Tuya smart switches and rarely use an app, just OK Google…
