  1. How much money does he have?
  2. I live in a village about 20 kms outside of Chiang Mai. As far as I know, I am the only Farang in my area - at least I never see any others. All of my Thai neighbors burn. I am the only one who does not.
  3. Just renew your passport now. Why do you want to wait until June to do it? You have plenty of time now so why would you want to risk putting yourself in situation where you are subject to the pressure of time?
  4. Why do so many people think it is funny to post what they see as amusing or clever remarks when there is a weather-related disaster like what happened in some areas of Chiang Mai on Saturday. Childish, asinine remarks are inappropriate and are not appreciated by those whose homes and businesses were damaged by the storm.
  5. Thirty-two years old and already with five children, so he decides to "follow his dream" and come to Thailand looking for work. Once here he rides a motorbike without a helmet while out drinking with friends and is involved in an accident while riding the bike and talking on his phone. He sounds like a really responsible guy. He wasn't smart enough to wear either a condom or a helmet. I'm sorry about his current condition, but people often create their problems when they act without thinking. His mother should be more concerned about her five grandchildren.
  6. This is an example of why I prefer driving when I travel around Thailand. There are so many interesting little side trips that can be discovered when driving.
  7. Bathrooms can be quite dangerous and a slip and fall would become even more dangerous when a person's head hits the hard surfaces found in a bathroom which would explain the head wound.
  8. Ask to see his Thai ID card. If he is really a Thai citizen, he should be proud to show it to you.
  9. Hospitals are filled with diseased people. It is best to avoid them if at all possible.
  10. I have lived in Thailand for more than 30 years and have never been to Khao San Road, nor do I have any desire to go there. I have visited many sites popular with both Thai and foreign visitors, but prefer to avoid those areas the older I get.
  11. Which one are you in the photo - the one wearing a cap and a face mask or the one with a small head and limp wrists?
  12. I have both a Bangkok Bank account and a Krungsri account. I have used both banks for several decades and had no problems with either of them.
  13. My mobile phone is also in a red case, and while I admit that the case was made in China - as was my Apple phone, the only time you will see it in my is when I am using it.
  14. I have not visited a Thai beach in almost two decades. If I someday decide I would like to go to the beach then I will go to Hawaii. I have lived in Thailand for more than thirty years, but far from the beach, or Bangkok, and have no desire to visit either.
  15. I use an agent and I have far more than what is needed in Thai bank accounts plus more than what is needed in monthly income. I use an agent simply for the convenience.
  16. Since there are already millions of Thais of Chinese descent living legally in Thailand, it is quite easy for Chinese to blend in. If they learn to speak Thai then it is often quite difficult to tell the legal ones from the illegal ones.
  17. If he was a known drug addict who was also known to be prone to violence, why wasn't he in either a treatment facility or prison?
  18. Then stay home.
  19. Wow! I didn't realize that the flooding in Chiang Mai damaged the Sistine Chapel's ceiling fresco. Amazing Thailand!
  20. Could you tell me more about your insurance. What company is it with> I am 75 and I have been trying to get health insurance for years without any success. I also have a Non-O and worry that someday insurance might be required and then I can't get it. Also, like you I would never expect to use it either.
  21. I have never had a problem at Bangkok Bank. I also have an account at Krungsri with never a problem. I have had issues with two government banks in the past, so I just closed me accounts there. By the way, whenever I go to a bank, a government office, or any Thai business, I always speak Thai and I find it helps. Even if my wife is present, I do all the speaking.
