will toilets be cleaned, sanitized after each use?

    From their website:

Emirates has added a cabin service assistant (CSA) to the crew complement on flights over 1.5 hours. The CSAs will ensure lavatories are cleaned at frequent intervals of every 45 mins. Each lavatory has been equipped with sanitising soap and hand washing instructions.

What is the logic for not allowing handluggage, if they allow laptop bags, handbags and briefcases it can't be because they're concerned about the virus being on pieces hand luggage?

So this is just a policy decision by Emirates or is there some virus-related reason?

It slows down getting on and off the aircraft thus reducing social distancing as folk bunch up.

    From EK website....

What are the items allowed in the cabin?

Cabin baggage will not be accepted on these flights. Items allowed will be limited to laptop, handbag, briefcase or baby items; any other items will have to be checked in.

Yes, it's just the big rollaboards that they are preventing from going in the cabin, and they'll put them in the hold at no extra cost even if you've used your regular hold allowance.  Win, win the way I see it.

In general, you will not have credit card protection on a debit card.  Visa offer protection only on VISA Credit cards. Here is my explanation:

Paying by credit card is convenient and it also gives you added legal protection if the company you’re buying from goes bust or doesn’t deliver what it’s promised.

You might get some limited protection when paying by debit card, but only  under a voluntary scheme called chargeback. With Debit cards though you don’t generally have other protection.

Chargeback isn’t legal protection like section 75 (Credit Card Cover) . It’s an agreement Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and American Express have signed up to.

The scheme enables you to claim a refund from your card provider if a purchase doesn’t arrive or is faulty.

It works by the card company trying to claim your money back from the company you’ve paid, by reversing the transaction.

There’s usually no minimum spend in order to be covered by chargeback, but time limits apply for making a claim – usually up to 45 days from making the purchase.

Chargeback claims can take some time to process because the card company has to get the money refunded before it can pass it onto you.

Most important you need to make a formal complaint to the Debit card issuer and request an acknowledgment.

Good summary, but to clarify a couple of points:  In the UK, Amex debit cards (is there such a thing?) do not have chargeback protection, and the time limit for a chargeback is usually 120 days.  This can be extended in situations such as plane ticket purchases where the purchase can typically be well in advance of the service or goods being delivered, and the absolute maximum is 540 days.

These are USA rules and the poster has indicated he holds a UK based card, where the rules are somewhat different.

before from Udon Thani my friend wentr by car to BKK, arrived only 30 minutes later than the plane. Go figure. he left Udon when his friend went to the Airport , got to the hotel 30 mins after his friend and cost only 500 baht more. Return the same. Zero restrictions on luggage and no speeding on the roads.

He first had to buy and maintain a car.

When he drove, he didn't get to sit in an airport lounge and have a few drinks or a bite to eat.  His 8 hour drive must have made his bum numb whereas flying he wouldn't have to sit that long and could get up pretty much when he wanted.

He then had to find and pay for parking at his destination, and it still took longer and cost more?

Of couse, flying has its drawbacks, and you don't give us much to work with, but first indications are that your driving friend may not be the smartest bloke around.

Yes, the box gots gigabyte ports and when they tested the system I checked the results they were getting using LAN and their computer. They showed 280 - 300 Mbps when using the True speedtest site.

Did they check all the ports? It could be that the some of the ports are restricted.  Test this by using one device, connecting to each of the ports in turn and running the same test each time.

  6. The rule that allowed work permit holders to enter is no longer valid going by the IATA requirements where it showed up before.

Really bad timing to be considering this...but they're not alone.

Laos has implemented a tourist tax - 16000 Kip for incoming foreign passport holders and 8000 for foreign border pass holders. Strangely, they're not yet collecting the tax when entering from Thailand but reportedly are doing so for entries from Vietnam and arrivals by air.

International flights to Laos were suspended last month.  Have they re-started?

Again? I would like to be fit like this guy and open and sell all the time restaurants. What I don't understand is a review by the new owner of the Chunky Monkey on Google Maps. He writes that you should not eat at his restaurant Chunky Monkey but at the Happy Hippo. Does not make sense to me to say please eat at my competition. Does anyone understand this? Below from Google Maps a review at the Chunky Monkey from the owner of the Chunky Monkey.

He sold the bricks and mortar of the Chunky Monkey but not the web presence.  He still owns the account on whatever review site that came from, so can post as Chunky Monkey even though he no longer owns  the restaurant.
