  1. It shows that there are 2 departures per hour (not 1 as previously thought)..On the hour, and at 20 past. (see the attached photos for all scheduled times)

I got outside at around 3:30pm, so I had missed the scheduled 15:20 departure.

From looking at the timetable photo above, and a similar one on the Swampy forum:

it looks to me like it is only hourly buses between 10pm (22.00) and 10am (10.00).

  2. Wow, Heh Masaomi, You are a tight ass old bugger , No.? What a lot of hate for youth that love to race around he world. I had a 409 1962 chevy and was state champion in A stock. Idaho I have recieved many tickets but have driven 1,500,000 miles since my last wreck at age 20 my fault in 1961. I still have fast cars and won 2 Divisional championships and 9 world records in hillclimbs in USA (on pavement) How long since you had a wreck? Today I have a 90 civic crx with a Acura 4 cyl eng with 200 hp and still cant resist st racing a kid in a 5.0 Mustang v/8 at a light. You never had the feeling of beating a big old american v/8 with a 98 cubic inch screaming 4 cyl that turns 8000 rpm honda. Also have a 510 Datsun with a Honda with a S-2000 Honda engine with 240 HP turns 9000. RPM in a 1900 lb car. Just about to hit the streets with it. I will be 71 in jan. Remeber all those insurance claims that many tickets means dangerous driver. I sure blew that story. Never got a ticket of going over 80 mph , just 10-15 over usually freeways were made for 80 mph in 1965 we have cars that go 200 mph. They just raised speed limt in Texas to 85 on a toll rd. wow, I crossed texas last winter kept it at 80-105 all night.

Just got to know what you are doing. Kids still need to learn before going crazy, Bikes are dangerous for sure.

Wow ........... that is all very impressive.

You are, like ............ a legend.

ps I reckon you need to grow up.

  3. I obtained my O-A in Jakarta. At that time I was a legal resident in Indonesia and according to the regulations it is there ,where I have to request (and not in my home country Holland). No problems whatsoever.

I received 365 days stay on my arrival at airport Bangkok.

Out of interest, from which police force did you get your police clearance?

Assuming it was the Indonesian police, how would they know what your status was in Holland (not that I am suggesting it was bad smile.png ).

  4. In my opinion, these models and the ones on Thai soap operas are less appealing then many bar girls. I'm not much into bleached white skin, nose jobs, bob jobs, and all that awful makeup.

On the other hand, I wouldn't kick em out of bed either. I'm not crazy.

I suspect many foreigners would agree with you. If we wanted pale skinned boob jobs, we could find them at home. What makes Thai women exotic is the brown skin, cute noses and PLEASANT ATTITUDE...

    +1

I thought the circus was in town

And several of the clowns are posting on this thread. laugh.png

  5. Dont forget the schools and hospitals. 800$ per month for an average school no where near as good as any small free school in my city. Shitty hospitals filled with people who cheated on their exams that charge a lot.

Thailand is expensive. Some people have said it already they are here for the lifestyle. Those who keep trying to argue that thailand is still cheaper than most countries are just sexpats trying to cover up subconciously.

    What judgmental, bigoted nonsense.

BTW, how much does it cost to send your kid to a private school in Canada - particularly a Thai one?

    edit - spelling.

  6. How easy is either the bus or the airport shuttle for passengers that have 2-3 bags?

The one time I used the public bus (555 Swampy to DM) it was extremely inconvenient. Dropped off on the other side of the road to the terminal, which meant lugging 1 large + 1 small suitcase up steep stairs to the overpass to cross the busy road into the terminal.

    Never again.

Any idea how it works in the other direction? DM to Swampy?

    Sorry - no.

  7. In the future children will develop early attention deficit disorder that prevents them from any communication skills necessary in the new globalized international world.

Their heads will be stuck forever in those tablets, as they develop an infinite addiction for these things that they cannot live without ever since there is IPhone and co.

Other than that children are gonna become really fat and create a lazy attitude of complacency which is gonna be very dangerous for their health…

Oh dear - I am sure I heard all the same tired old platitudes when TV was introduced in my native country.

  8. I notice that your 20+ years experience in policing has enabled you take the following action: Find it funny and amusing. Well done. I can't help thinking you should be able to get a job in the Thai police with that very helpful and enthusiastic performance.

    Why stop there.

If the Thai government had any sense ie wanted to save money, and solve every crime or suspected crime in the Kingdom, it should outsource everything to the investigative, CSI and pathology experts that sit around all day wasting their skills and experience posting on TVF. thumbsup.gif

Perhaps George could get a %.

  9. For the visa, Aussie citizens should pay US$30, or perhaps it's since gone up to US$35 for a 30-day Lao visa on arrival, but as a dual citizen, I only use my Swiss passport to enter Laos these days since I don't need a visa for 15 days (this visa exemption has been in force for Swiss and Luxembourg citizens since 2 or 3 years now). On an Aussie passport, I'd have to pay. Last time I used my Aussie passport to enter Laos I paid US$30, but that was back in 2007; there may also be a so-called "overtime fee" of US$1 added on top of the normal visa fee. Don't bring Thai Baht since they'll profit on the exchange rate and charge you 1500 Baht. So to be safe, bring about US$40 and you'll be fine. US$ are easy to purchase from Superrich in Bangkok (either Viphawadi-Rangsit road branch or the Patumwan branches opposite Central World Plaza) or at any international airport (Suvarnabhumi, Chiang Mai etc.) or from the Superrich branch in Khon Kaen. Forget about purchasing US$ from Thai banks, as the paperwork is lengthy, and they may have to order the $ from the main branch or somewhere else, so this would take time, possibly a couple of days.

As stated above in my earlier post, the visa cost for Australians is US$30.

I have purchased US$ over the counter with a minimum of paperwork and/or fuss at both the KTB Bank in the Tesco Centre, and Kasikorn Bank, both in Nong Khai. Just have your passport handy.

I also understand (though I have not done it myself), that you can also purchase $US from the Money Exchange on the Lao side, right in front of the Immigration windows.
