The last Hilux tested by ancap gave it 4 stars and that was the 2005 model. What are you basing your Toyota comment on?
Ancap is Asian crash standard safety, it is in no comparison to FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard) nor EuroNcap (European New car Assessment program). Ancap creates its own laws, according to back handers from China and so on. I need say no further.
Of course the rules will be bent in Ancap, to accommodate production and incomes and positions for the politically bent, overseeing the real safety issues.
As for the Hilux, enjoy the shocking news: http://paultan.org/2...ck-crash-tests/
You're in my area of expertise now, so keep'em flying. Asian vehicles are a safety disgrace, and you only have to see the OP to see the resultants.
-mel.
Ancap seems to have nothing to do with Asia standards - it is purely Australia and New Zealand based:
Stranger and stranger!
ps "mitigate" does not = "dissipate".

Given that the new Toyota Hilux you buy in Australia is made in Thailand, and Australia has very strict vehicle safety standards, I am not sure what to make of MEL1's posts in this thread.

................................................ The man is clearly non hostile and is trying to understand why he has become a victim of such unforgiviable agression..........................................
Can you give us a link to the video you watched, because it certainly wasn't the one at the beginning of the thread.

In that case, he should have a look here:

I use 3G Watchdog on my Android phone.
It will give you live track of your data usage, either 3G or 2G, plus wi-fi.
-
I am registered online with dtac e-services, and they email my monthly post paid account to me (mobile phone + data).
I am also registered online with Kasikorn Bank, and pay the account through them. You can do this with most of the major Thai banks.
So no need to suspend anything.

This is an excellent site for "best of class" builds of various specifications, and at different price points. Even though the site is Australian, most of the components should be available in Thailand from the various suppliers mentioned above. If not, it is easy enough to find a compatible substitute.
Building your own is fun - I have done about 6.

Will the definition of vice include the murder of police by family members, and then cover-up by the patriach?

"As the weeks went by, she hired an agent to organize a Australian Visa. She undertook a medical................."
I am not aware that Thais require a medical to obtain a tourist visa for Oz - it certainly hasn't been the case for the 3 or 4 visas my TGF/now wife has obtained.

Great information about viewing trip logs from the Garmin GPS in Google Earth - and also Mapsource and/or Basecamp.

I do not dipute what you have said just thought I would highlight who is really the Bannana republic Australia or Thailand??
Based on that interesting interpretation, Australia is joined by other banana republics such as USA, Spain, Italy, France, Brazil, UK, Canada, Turkey, India, etc etc etc.

So you think it was a wild assumption that they attempted to defraud the insurance company.....when they have gone on record stating that this was why they filed the false robbery claim?
Check the small print on your travel insurance.
If you are unable to make the distinction between an intention, and an attempt, I am unable to help you further.
ps I never use travel insurance - waste of money.
-
Gee ............. how does filing a report with Thai police translate into attempting to defraud an Australian insurance company?
If being a pedant means getting it right (rather than making wild assumptions) I plead guilty.
Try reading my post above ..
Read the original news report ..
http://www.thaivisa....-robbery-claim/
"In their confession, the couple admitted to creating the bogus robbery in order to get the proper documents needed to file a claim with their insurance company, Lt Col Thammasak said."
Is that a 'wild assumption'
No, the "wild assumption" is that they attempted to defraud the insurance company.
It is pretty clear (to me at least) they could not do that without first filing a claim with the insurance company, which is a quite separate act to claiming to the Thai police that they had been robbed.
-
Can you point to the part in the OP where it says they filed an insurance claim?
Oh, that's right - it doesn't.

How does that translate into having filed an insurance claim?

Wrong they attempted to defraud there Australian insurance company, which they did and where fined and deported for the crime .......who i should imagine are in Australia, how do you think these insurance scams are tracked down especially holiday insurance?
Many people are investigated by insurance company's on return from there travels after making claims to see if they are legitimate often many are not and the insurance company can prosecute.

Oh, that's right - it doesn't.
The two Australian tourists on holiday in Phuket who were charged with filing a false robbery report last weekend have been deported, the Phuket Immigration Office has confirmed.<br style="color: rgb(28, 40, 55); font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px; background-color: rgb(250, 251, 252); "><br style="color: rgb(28, 40, 55); font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px; background-color: rgb(250, 251, 252); ">The Australian couple, Abdul Karim El Rajab, 31, and Zeidan Nouha, 30, were arrested for filing a bogus report of being robbed in Patong last Sunday.<br style="color: rgb(28, 40, 55); font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px; background-color: rgb(250, 251, 252); "><br style="color: rgb(28, 40, 55); font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px; background-color: rgb(250, 251, 252); ">Police believe the couple filed the report with the aim of filing a fake insurance claim.
Always one pedant isn't there.

Up2U bar closed probably 3 years ago.
Currently (if you want to communicate with farangs) you have a choice of Eddies (easily the best and most popular), Igloos, and Garys.
Northern Europeans also tend to congregate at Marios, which is primarily a German/Italian restaurant, but also doubles-up as a bar.
All are on the main road through Ban Dung.

I wasted the money buying the Southeast Asia map from the Garmin web site. I used it once and then deleted it. The ESRI Thailand map is MUCH better and cheaper. You can get it here;
Be sure that you get the latest version, which is V11.1. The cost is 2,000 baht.
Sounds good. Any problems with Junction view (although you may have the Thai OS on your Garmin)? I'm a little worried per InnocentObserver's post about Junction view possibly not working on my USA purchased 3750. Seems like although not a necessity Junction view would be useful and helpful to have.
It is possible (and perfectly legal) to install the Thai/Sing/Malaysia firmware on a non-Thai Garmin GPS - if you are willing to take the (small) risk of bricking your unit.
Suggest you google "noeman.org" if you want to proceed.

With 12 men, they can blame each other, and in the end, nobody will go to jail. The Men in Brown will probably find that the foreigner stole the knife from one of the 12 and slashed himself.
Wow!
TV certainly attracts more than its fair share of insightful, intelligent comments.
No insult intended but is sarcasm the weapon of the weak?
zakk, this question is directed at you. Can you please answer.

The awarding of the tender appears to have been delayed by at least 6 months - which means this year's AFL finals should be safe.
The decision also appears to have been taken away from Foreign Affairs, and will be made by cabinet. This means the reported interference by Kevin Rudd may be ameliorated.
The decision was to have been made by the secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Dennis Richardson, but the government said the decision would now be referred to cabinet. DFAT previously gave June 8 as an indicative date to sign the contract. -
Australia used to have laws where there could be no reporting for 3 days before the election.
Not so.
There is a 3 day political advertising blackout, and that still applies.
-
While I am not happy with the decision - as it will affect my watching of the AFL - I can understand the reasoning behind it.
Given that ABC Asia is primarily funded by the Dept Foreign Affairs, they have right to have a say in its programming (Piper....tune...etc). I can't imagine that the primary target audience of DFAT is the AFL-watching Aussie expat population of Asia.

Thaksin put it here for sure...he cam by night put it here then came back to cambodia to drink with Hue Sen and plan to destroy Thailand with the red hearless peoples of 'who give a sh..' Isaan region. After that the red leaders decided to rip appart thailand, give 1/3 to cambodia, 1/3 to Laos, 1/3 to china, 1/3 to Myanmar and 1/3 to malaysia...yes this is 5/3 but as they are uneducated, stupids, selfish, greedy, they don t care.
But the PAD was awaken by Buddha whispiring in ears of yellow narak narak shirts that something happened so they just wipe everyone with suay army and magic nim nim bullets which tcha kati the red in temples.
Somanamna evil, bad redshirts. Yellow wins again...they just put some weapon here for fun...
it's amazing how previous posters made conclusions so easily and so wrong as everyone know i am the only one who tell the truth
Brilliant!
What is even more brilliant is that you seem to understand what aaa wrote.
The cream on the cake would be if you could provide a translation for the rest of us.
Transport Option For Catching An Early Morning Flight

google Thong Ta Bangkok.
I have stayed there a few times, and it is excellent value, with plenty to do nearby the evening before your flight.
Only downside is that you will probably need to leave the hotel before the kitchen opens for the "free" included breakfast.
