It took a long time for the UK to join the decimal system... I remember these pounds = 20 something, each of these = 12 something else...

Meanwhile, in the rest of Europe we were happy to stop at 10...

Yes £sd. Librae solidii denare (pounds shillings and pence)

Still remember using rods, chains and furlongs to measure distance. Some units are still used. Most people outside the UK can't understand me when I quote my weight as xx stones and yy pounds.

I don't know why we ever did change. SI came in around the time that I left school. Originally devised by the French. Vive la difference!

Anyway, it shows that those in charge of the curriculum have not yet realized that they use a decimal system and that learning beyond the table of 10 is a waste of time, that could be spent on... holidays.

I learned my 13 times table at the age of 10 in the UK. Later learned my 16 times table which became extremely useful in my working life.

As for holidays, 6 weeks summer holiday is the norm in the UK. In Thailand the holiday around Songkran is a couple of months. haven't done the full calculation but I'm sure Thai children get at least as many holidays as children in the UK.

The big difference is the school day. My son gets picked up in a minibus for the 15 minute journey to school at 7a.m. and doesn't return until 5.30p.m. In the UK, a typical school day is 9a.m. to 3p.m.

Charged does not = convicted.  I am aware there is the court of public opinion which I do not concern myself with.  I would rather live amongst a world of Gallaghers' rather than ISIS.  If the majority of thais felt you need to leave Thailand for some trumped up charge, but NO conviction, how would you feel about that?  Does that sit well with you?  We could go round and round on this.  My point is simple:  I prefer the likes of Gallagher given the choices, ie ISIS.  Second, verdict has been rendered, you/I/we are not paid to worry about this, it will fix itself regardless if it is right or wrong.  Sometimes wrong is right, sometimes we need to fail to succeed.  Why?  Nobody knows.  It's  called LIFE!  So who are we to judge anything in the grand scheme of things.  Therefore, keep it simple.  If you really need/want to worry about something worry about Thai immigration, your visa, and reporting to Thai immigration (aka mom).  Otherwise get some rest.

So let's not talk about it, let's talk about Thai Immigration instead. Typical deflection from Trump's base.

The point is that none of us saw it therefore not qualified to judge him anyway I really gotta log off for real now

Which, by your logic means that the jury had no right to judge him and he could only be judged by the people who were there and saw the incident. His colleagues, who were there, concurred that he had killed an unarmed prisoner with his hunting knife. Oh well....

we don’t really know what happened unless you were actually there, saw it, or involved in the situation somehow. Who am I or any of us to judge this man?

Did the jury actually see it, were they there or involved in the situation? By your logic, they have no right to judge either. Luckily the judicial system doesn't work like that or few, if any criminals would be convicted.

I really don’t give a damn what anyone thinks I’ve taken pictures of taliban and Al-Qaida prisoners before as well and those are also in my Facebook pictures somewhere and no it was not for entertainment it was to document and remember certain life experiences but regardless I don’t care what you or anyone else thinks.

So why post them on Facebook? Bragging rights, no other reason.

I'm sure that if Facebook was around in Lt. Calleys time, he would have posted pictures on Facebook. It's what the US military are renowned for, killing women, children and men with their hands tied behind their backs. Heroes one and all.

If you were actually there with him and actually saw what happened then go ahead and speak up about what you think if not then you probably should know what you should do which is just be quite and remain non judgmental. You’re entitled to your opinions but your opinions mean nothing.

So the jury didn't have the right to pass judgement as they weren't there either?

I have nothing against law enforcement at all but it’s just an example and something to think about. I can’t really form a complete accurate opinion of those situations either because again I wasn’t there I didn’t see it for myself.

So how could the jury decide one way or the other? Were they there, did they see it for themselves? No, the decided on the evidence presented to them, that evidence being that he bragged, in texts to his friends, that he had stabbed the Iraqi in the neck with his hunting knife. His colleagues, who were there, corroborated his story. Guilty as charged unless you have an extremely biased jury. and a president who loves playing to his base.

Why did he do it? Obviously to brag to his friends and family back home that he had "taken out" an ISIS terrorist with his own hands, he even posed for photos to corroborate his story.. He'll probably leave out the details that the guy was knelt down with his hands tied behind his back and already seriously injured. War hero? No, coward.

I don't know - why don't we go back to the late 80s and ask the USSR? ????

As a dyed in the wool lifelong Tory nationalist, you can see the comparison between the USSR and the EU. Thankfully most of us see little or no comparison.

The EU wan't imposed on us, we begged and pleaded to be allowed to join. In 1975 we had a referendum, the result of which was to remain in the EU by a majority of 2 to 1. Where's our democratic right?

    In what way ?

High taxes ? Relentless persecution of motorists ? Widespread stabbings ?

I've never been stabbed in Thailand. I'd much rather be stopped by the RTP than the police in the UK (have experienced both on several occasions). I've never paid tax in Thailand except purchase tax, 7% in Thailand compared to 17.5% in the UK.

I have an incomparably better life here than I did in the UK. I can now live for the moment. As I type this my only worry is what and where to eat lunch.

The first box is included in the basic monthly subscription cost of what TV package you signup for.  You can add up to two more boxes at Bt100 each per month.  So, say you are signed up for the Platinum TV package at Bt599/month....that price also includes one Playbox.    Add a second Playbox and your monthly fee will now be Bt599 + Bt100 for a total of Bt699 (plus 7% VAT).   Add a third Playbox and your monthly fee will be Bt599+Bt100+Bt100 for a total of Bt799 plus VAT.   The Platinum TV package will be playing on each box you have.

Many HBO streams do include Thai subtitles.

You can also set the preferred audio language to either English or Thai which means if a stream has two sound tracks such as English and Thai it will play/select your preferred audio language automatically...or you can manually switch to the other sound track.

What about subtitles? Can you switch them?

Signed up yesterday. Engineer coming tomorrow to install. However, I can't order 2nd and 3rd boxes until installation complete. looks like I'll be getting additional boxes Saturday.

Cancelled True as of next Monday with nothing to pay. Result.

Don't worry Harris will get dumped under the bus soon.

    Apparently not.

    https://www.politico.com/story/2019/07/01/harris-warren-debate-poll-1392964

"Kamala Harris has rocketed into the top tier of the Democratic presidential primary, while Joe Biden’s once double-digit lead has crumbled in a national poll taken after last week’s debate.

The CNN/SRSS poll, which was released on Monday and conducted entirely after the first two Democratic presidential primary debates last week, has Harris, the California senator in second place, among Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents who are registered to vote, at 17 percent."
