  1. I guess I have no morals. I own Atria, Philip Morris, Pfizer, Exxon/Mobil and Raytheon stocks. Somebody’s gotta own the bad guys. Dividends make the difference for me.
  2. That’s my idea too. I would take a stab at day trading—either stocks or ETFs. If the currency drops 10-20%, a lot more of us would do this—in order to stay here.
  3. You better believe CCP is watching this closely—for obvious reasons. Best to stop Russia from expansion.
  4. The recent EV fires due to the hurricane in Florida now show the cause as salt water or salt water spray. So perhaps EV’s have an Achilles' Heel…
  5. Very enlightening, thank you. For now, I’ll stick to driving my Hi-Rider Ranger, and gently ford those flash floods.
  6. You got that right. We often park our vehicle very near the Gulf. We cover it to keep the salty air from corroding the electrical system. Will undercoat next new vehicle too.
  7. I read that the recent hurricane in Florida took out several EVs. This begs the question, what happens to an EV in a heavy rainstorm, or in a flash flood? Granted you’d have major electrical damage in your internal combustion vehicle in flash floods.
  8. If you use ketchup on french fries—you don’t avoid sugar. It’s loaded—read.the label.
  9. If you’re single, in Pattaya—why not? Of course, if and when you bring a lady…it’s just not big enough…
  10. Just put Hunter, The Big Guy and Trump in prison—same cell block. And let’s start with a clean slate.
  11. We have a house in Isaan, and a house on the Gulf. We take many trips back and forth during the high season. We even go a few times in this low season. Takes 9-10 hours door to door. My Ranger has a 1000 km range with its 80-liter tank. I bring bicycles, clothes and even boat parts. It is our lifestyle and I wouldn’t change it. I have no use for an EV at present limitations.
  12. I’m not anti-EV, but I won’t buy one until I can drive one fully loaded and charged for 700 km.
  13. The Step Up Basis rule for capital gains in regard to inheritances has existed for almost 100 years. The Biden administration has considered cutting it back. That would cause complete panic on Wall St and Main St.
  14. Did Ray Epps get a jail sentence? Asking for a friend…
  15. The retirement I have now in Thailand is the same or better than the retirement I would have had in America. The same until my American ex-wife divorced me. That pushed my retirement to Thailand. No regrets.
  16. “Socialism works great—until you run out of other people’s money” Margaret Thatcher
  17. Thanks. I’ve read or heard both stories before. As for the 90% tax on the top income earners—most found and used loopholes to drastically reduce their tax burden. My grandfather had a small business in the 50’s. He found ways to prosper, despite the tax rate.
  18. Most of us are millionaires here in Thailand—Baht millionaires. And that helps with the ladies, too.
  19. Agree. I had a 30-year mortgage, used the mortgage interest tax write off, refinanced several times, and finally paid it off 10 years early when I retired.
  20. They should make basic personal finance a requirement in all high schools. Better yet, for all people on public assistance. Learn to live within your means.
