  1. I took a nice long relaxing sail today with my Thai girl.
  2. Of course we need government programs to help people. But public welfare is different. Those on public welfare did nothing to deserve it, and are encouraged to continue the lifestyle.
  3. Welfare is a good place to start. There are multiple generations on public welfare—with absent fathers and higher welfare payments for each additional child. President Clinton instituted a work for welfare program. We should revisit the program.
  4. I came to Thailand to get away, far away from my ex-wife and the threat of lifetime alimony payments (Massachusetts).
  5. Even their currency is defiantly different than Thailand’s. Dong has a loose peg on the USD. Thailand has—I have no idea what drives the Baht…
  6. That’s what I said. Look at the final result—only two survivors after they slammed into a concrete barrier. If they ditched along the airport shoreline in shallow water, how many would have survived? Far more than just two.
  7. You got that right. Better to have government leaders and advisors who already made their money, than government leaders and advisors who have little to start with, and use their power to enrich themselves at taxpayer expense.
  8. Just look at each individual Biden family members bank account. Joe Biden once bragged he was the poorest member of the Senate.
  9. When you listen to the video of the tragic landing, it sure sounds like the 737-800 has an engine running. So yes, more likely they did have one engine running in some capacity—which would make a huge difference.
  10. Agreed. Looks like they will uncover multiple faults—not just a bird strike.
  11. I predict the USD shall rise even higher (from today’s tradingview of 108 vs a basket of currencies—up to 112). Yet, the Baht will rise ever higher, due to amazingly high foreign currency inflows…
  12. BBC reported they landed “roughly in the middle of the 2800m runway” No way they could stop it in time from halfway.
  13. Agreed. They knew the landing strip, and what lay at the end of it. They must have figured it their best option, sadly.
  14. Yes, a shortened runway with a concrete barrier at one end. But they were seasoned pilots and had landed there before.
  15. Agree with most of this. Pilot could have chosen a better option. Good thing USAir didn’t attempt an airport belly up landing. They had zero fatalities on the Hudson River.
  16. An airport landing without landing gear or flaps is a dicey proposition. Better to ditch in the water adjacent to the runway. It worked for USAir Miracle on the Hudson.
  17. If they experienced a total loss of power from a bird strike, why wouldn’t they attempt a water landing close to shore?
  18. Maybe if Bank of Thailand valued western currencies the way they did six months ago—Kasikorn would have nailed it.
  19. Could be pilot error. They need both boxes to get the full story
  20. If you want to meet and date a 10, but you don’t want the attitude or spoiled personalities, I suggest you spend some time way out in the country. The natives are quite friendly.
  21. When the burning starts—the sailing season commences. Head for the coast.
  22. Yes, currency markets close on Sunday. Some of the weekend listings skew currencies downward. I prefer Wise because they seem to have better weekend accuracy.
  23. Good explanation, thanks very much. No, they never covered foreign exchange in our junior or high school, but they should. I understand reserve currencies and pairings. Baht exchange rate matters when you’re contemplating a major purchase.
