  1. Taxi to Siem Reap USD38 Seat in van USD 8 Try to have ten dollar bills. Or Exchange in Changi now has Riel. Much better option to pay
  2. https://web.facebook.com/people/Call-Kim-Community-Platform/100041334233972/?mibextid=2JQ9oc
  3. There is a walkway on the west side of the bridge. The Thai part is usually blocked but the Malaysian section is ok. Can get busy at times. The Thai immigration like to enforce the dress code. If you travel by train there is no mobile phone service until near Had Yai .
  4. Can stay for up to a year then you renew. Don't need to leave the country.
  5. You enter Cambodia on an E visa which is for 30 days. After three weeks approximately go to a visa agent for example in Phnom Penh, Call Kim, Marany or Lucky and ask them which visa suits your needs. Probably be the EB _EOS. They are good and reliable agents who can get things done. You can get the E visa on arrival or in advance online which costs a few dollars more If you want to phone one of the agents most Khmer seem to use telegram or whatsup
  6. APSARA National Authority has issued a notice to national and international tourists that APSARA Authority does not have any ban on taking photos or videos for personal memorabilia or tourism to promote art and culture. Still, for business advertisements, a permit is required. Khmer times
  7. We have used DHL. If there were taxes to pay they must have paid them. I'm assuming it's similar in size to what Steve Martin wore in Roxanne. Unlikely they bother with something smallish. Definitely ' health and beauty' Someone suggested putting it in a packet of condoms.
  8. That's fair enough. There are plenty of local professional photographers there anyway. We just went for the equinox sunrise holy day. Hired a guy. Good result. Beautiful around there in wet season
  9. All The National Parks were wonderful places. Slowly going to nothing. Even Bokor is being wrecked.
  10. They wrecked that area to build then nothing. Not the only place but possibly the worst damage.
  11. There is so much stuff near the crossing its difficult to see things. I usually go through there as quickly as possible. In the fore ground of that photo you can see some pushcarts. They are always overloaded and can be a real hazard
  12. There were two atms but they went when they built the departure building. They may be in a different location e.g. near the 7
  13. There isn't really a busy time. Khmer kids go to school on the Thai side so after school a bit of traffic but it's nothing major. A bus with tourists arrives from Sihanoukville about 1 .30pm. Delivery trucks from Thailand show up mainly mid morning. Sunday is a quieter day unless there is a group of casino goers. There are two windows in the Khmer immigration office. One for Khmer and Thais and one for others. The others usually has no one.
  14. Not busy usually. There is often a Khmer helper there. Handy if you haven't been there before. They are good guys unlike at other crossings. The Khmer immigration guys like to ask for extra fees. If you are going beyond Koh Kong town the highway 48 is becoming two lanes. They are doing the entire highway at the same time. It has been a very wet rainy season. The road is very rough. The road going north kind of towards Battambong is even worse.
  15. I've been in Kampot/Kep for a week. I thought it would be difficult to find a room as it's European vacation time and usually busy. The first guesthouse I tried only has two rooms rented and that is to permanent guests. They rented one other room through August. Going around the district I only see people who are long stayers.
  16. People I know who buy online buy from small sellers who advertise online, Facebook, etc. They send, usually free delivery, with Virak Buntham which is a delivery and bus company. When the item arrives at the local office someone will phone you to pick it up. Some places the bus and delivery office are the same. Other places they are separate. I have seen some small Virak Buntham delivery vehicles going around town. You may need to be a very regular customer to get that service. Post office has a similar service EMS that doesn't seem to be as popular.
  17. That travel information is out of date so wrong
  18. Is that New? AFAIK it can be extended once for 30 days. blockquote widget
  19. Not so much about the need to work as an easy way to get a visa. Someone who can speak English would be in demand in many places in Cambodia. Many Thai words are the same or similar to Khmer words. I spend all my time with Khmer and picked up the language easily. Cambodia is a fairly small country and easy to get around. Worth having a look at different places. Battambong excellent food. Kampot very good hospital.
  20. Long stay multiple visa is easy if you are over 55. Takes a lot to get a retirement visa if under 55. Best to get an experienced agent. Work permits are fairly easy. I know someone who is supposedly a bar maid. She seems to be absent almost everyday. She's 31.
  21. Excellent. Some of those bullock wagons are still in use
  22. Getting value for money for long stay rentals would involve going around looking for a place you like then spending time seeing what goes on in the area day and night. Someone I know found the perfect place only to find out the nearby army base blows the bugle three times at 5a.m.., 7,11,2 ,5 and 9. There are some good value places that include everything, electric, water. I would say it's a buyer's market now. Very few foreigners here.
  23. It's the Singapore model. One party state, son takes over from father, controlled media opposition are jailed, banned, etc
  24. You would think RFA etc would get over losing the war. Have a go at Afganistan. Oh, wait. Sad.
  25. No hotel booking required. During covid there was a requirement for visitors to stay in certain hotels. Not now. Phnom Penh has a very easy, quick entry. Bring undamaged USDs for visa or get one online.
